Big Miss and White Moonlight, Stop Fighting! - Chapter 45
Chapter 45: Just Driving Her Away
After a few seconds of silence, Wen Wuxin said softly, “Okay.”
Tang Yanzhen clapped. “Miss Wen is a straightforward person.”
But after hearing what Tang Yanzhen wanted, Wen Wuxin sighed. “Mr. Tang, I’m not a secret agent. The things you’re talking about are all core secrets of the Jiang family. I don’t usually have access to them.”
Those secrets were all tightly held by Jiang Asheng. Wen Wuxin had no doubt that before she even made a move, Jiang Asheng would be able to sense her intentions.
Tang Yanzhen also paused. “It’s true that I’m asking for too much. But as for the other condition, Miss Wen should be able to do it.”
Wen Wuxin didn’t even raise her eyelids. “What?”
Tang Yanzhen grinned. “Arson.”
Arson?
Wen Wuxin had a faint guess in her heart.
“What if it gets traced back to me afterward…”
Tang Yanzhen interrupted Wen Wuxin. “It won’t. I’ll tell you the plan, and I guarantee that the Jiang family won’t be able to trace it back to you.”
Wen Wuxin also didn’t ask why the other person wanted to do this. She just said blandly, “But if that’s the case, what if Jiang Qingyue gets hurt?”
Tang Yanzhen’s expression was strange. “Miss Wen, I don’t think you genuinely like her, do you?”
Wen Wuxin’s suspicion of this man grew stronger, but she still hid it well on the surface.
This man was most likely an enemy of the Jiang family from over twenty years ago, but Wen Wuxin had never heard of any feud between the Tang and Jiang families. The two families even had business dealings on the surface.
After chatting with the man for a few more sentences, Wen Wuxin waved her hand. “We can talk about the specifics later. I’m very tired today, so I won’t keep you company.”
Tang Yanzhen left quietly.
Sitting in an inconspicuous black car, Tang Yanzhen held the steering wheel, his eyes filled with disdain. “She’s so easy to trick… Jiang Asheng, your whole family can go to hell.”
After returning home, Wen Wuxin walked straight into the bathroom.
Too many things had happened today. Her mind was a complete mess.
But some things were certain, such as Tang Yanzhen’s identity and true intentions.
Wen Wuxin couldn’t help but be glad that her deep-seated persona of being blinded by love had been so well-established over the past few years, which led Tang Yanzhen to be basically unguarded against her.
But in the photos Tang Yanzhen showed her, the information about her family was indeed real.
Either Tang Yanzhen or Jiang Asheng was lying.
Although Wen Wuxin knew that Tang Yanzhen had malicious intentions, on this matter, she couldn’t fully trust Jiang Asheng either. After all, this was her family. Even if they were living a bad life or had died, it wouldn’t affect Jiang Asheng.
Tang Yanzhen’s matter had to be put aside for now. At the moment, she had a more urgent matter to deal with.
After quickly taking off her makeup, Wen Wuxin turned on the shower. Cold water rinsed her body.
She couldn’t help but shiver, but she still took a cold shower for more than ten minutes.
After the shower, Wen Wuxin’s head was already a bit muddled. She quickly blow-dried her hair and then walked unsteadily to the art studio.
Most of her painting tools had been moved to the Jiang family’s main residence, but thankfully, the remaining tools here were enough for Wen Wuxin to paint.
Picking up a charcoal pencil, Wen Wuxin began to paint.
She didn’t know how much time had passed. All she knew was that her consciousness was so blurry that she couldn’t hear the sounds from outside.
So she missed the knocking.
Right now, Wen Wuxin was almost painting based on her muscle memory from so many years of painting. Her whole body was burning, her cheeks were an unnatural red, and her eyes had lost focus.
Her vision became blurrier and blurrier, but the two people in her painting became clearer and clearer.
Two women were wearing white wedding dresses. A spotlight shone on them. The two of them looked at each other affectionately, and their ring-covered hands were intertwined.
The art studio door was pushed open forcefully. Jiang Qingyue was still panting, and Jiang Qingyue, with an equally anxious face, was following behind her.
“Xin Xin?!”
Wen Wuxin was painting with her back to them. Jiang Qingyue couldn’t care less about the content of the painting. She said nervously, “I’m sorry, Xin Xin. I was wrong just now. I…”
Wen Wuxin turned around slowly like a rusty robot. She frowned slightly and used a lot of effort to finally focus her vision.
“…I won’t give it to you,” Wen Wuxin’s tone was firm.
“What?” Jiang Qingyue didn’t understand what she meant, but she had already noticed the other person’s abnormal complexion and immediately reached out to feel Wen Wuxin’s forehead.
Wen Wuxin immediately stumbled to her feet. She dropped the charcoal pencil with her right hand, and her left hand was still clenched into a fist, as if she was holding something.
“Qingyue,” Wen Wuxin said with a lot of grievance. “You can’t do this. You promised me.”
Wen Wuxin’s state was very wrong right now. Jiang Qingyue didn’t dare to act rashly and could only admit her mistake first. “Yes, it’s all my fault, Xin Xin. You’re not well right now. Let me see if you have a fever.”
Wen Wuxin sniffled. “The rings are mine. Even if you throw them away, they’re still mine.”
Wen Wuxin opened her left hand, and there were two silver rings in her palm.
Jiang Qingyue’s heart ached as regret filled her chest. “I’m sorry, I…”
Wen Wuxin’s body swayed. She was still muttering, “Even if you don’t want me, even if you don’t get engaged to me, the rings are still mine. Qingyue, you promised me back then…”
Her consciousness became more and more blurry, and each breath became heavy. Wen Wuxin’s body went limp, her hands drooped powerlessly, and the two rings fell to the ground with a crisp sound.
She fell into a warm embrace.
Jiang Qingyue was faster than Jiang Qingyue and reached Wen Wuxin’s side. As the other person fell backward, she put her arm around her waist and picked her up.
The person in her arms had a frighteningly high body temperature. Jiang Qingyue and Jiang Qingyue, in a rare moment of unspoken understanding, didn’t argue. Jiang Qingyue pursed her lips and let Jiang Qingyue carry Wen Wuxin away.
Wen Wuxin’s eyes were tightly closed. She was so feverish that her consciousness was blurry, but she was still muttering something to herself.
Her body temperature was about to reach a critical point, and her tears also became hot.
“The rings… wuwu… they’re gone,” Wen Wuxin’s voice was hoarse.
The black Cayenne sped down the deserted road. Wen Wuxin leaned against Jiang Qingyue’s arms and fell into a deep sleep.
Jiang Qingyue was holding the two silver rings that had just fallen to the ground. She sat silently to the side and didn’t argue with Jiang Qingyue.
…
The next morning.
Wen Wuxin woke up in a soft bed. The familiar feeling was identical to the large bed in Jiang Qingyue’s bedroom, but the decor in front of her was a little unfamiliar.
As soon as Wen Wuxin opened her eyes, someone came closer.
It was Jiang Qingyue.
She brushed the stray hairs from Wen Wuxin’s forehead. “Are you thirsty? I poured you some water.”
Carefully helping Wen Wuxin sit up, Jiang Qingyue handed her a glass of water that was at the perfect temperature.
Wen Wuxin was about to reach out her hand, but the other person stopped her. “Don’t move. I’ll feed you.”
A hint of embarrassment flashed in Wen Wuxin’s eyes. She then noticed that she was still on an IV.
After drinking the warm water, Wen Wuxin didn’t understand why she was in Jiang Qingyue’s bedroom. “Why am…”
Jiang Qingyue looked at the nearly empty IV bag. “I’ll go call the doctor to remove the needle. Wait a moment.”
Wen Wuxin was alone in the room again.
She slowly extended her left hand from under the covers. Her middle finger was still bare.
What the hell.
Wen Wuxin lowered her eyes, and her long fake eyelashes hid the dissatisfaction in her heart.
She thought that her act of self-harm last night was good enough. Whether it was her own pain, the painting, or the pair of silver rings, Wen Wuxin didn’t believe that Jiang Qingyue wouldn’t be moved after seeing them.
But she didn’t…
“Excuse me, Miss Wen.”
The doctor’s entrance interrupted Wen Wuxin’s thoughts. Following behind the person in the white coat were Jiang Qingyue and Jiang Qingyue.
The doctor skillfully removed the needle, then took out a temporal thermometer and placed it near Wen Wuxin’s forehead. “The fever has gone down. Miss Wen, you need to stay warm for the next few days and not catch a cold again. After taking medicine for three more days, you’ll be fine.”
After giving her instructions, the doctor quickly left, and the three of them fell into a strange silence again.
In the end, Wen Wuxin extended her hand. She lowered her head, not daring to look at Jiang Qingyue.
“Give them back to me.”
Wen Wuxin’s voice was almost inaudible. “President Jiang, give me back the rings.”
Jiang Qingyue quickly walked to the bed and sat down. “Xin Xin, I’m really sorry about what happened last night. I just acted on impulse. Everything I said and did shouldn’t be taken seriously.”
Wen Wuxin was still looking down, repeating the same words. “The rings, give them back to me.”
Jiang Qingyue carefully put the silver ring back on. She then handed the other ring to Wen Wuxin, waiting for Wen Wuxin to put it on her.
But Wen Wuxin just held the other ring in her hand and didn’t make any other movements.
“President Jiang, I know my place. After all, I was just an insignificant mistress before. The engagement was indeed too rushed and not advisable. But you promised me back then that no matter whether we get engaged or not, these rings would belong to me.”
The more composed Wen Wuxin was, the more flustered Jiang Qingyue became.
She gently grabbed Wen Wuxin’s wrist. “I was a bastard. I did something wrong, Xin Xin. Don’t be angry. If you’re really mad, just hit me, okay?”
Wen Wuxin looked at Jiang Qingyue’s bright and elegant face. “You know I couldn’t do that.”
Jiang Qingyue finally spoke. “She needs to rest now. You’re too loud.”
Jiang Qingyue was speechless.
Wen Wuxin had always been obedient to her before. This was the first time Wen Wuxin was angry at her, and Jiang Qingyue had no idea what to do.
Wen Wuxin lifted the covers, wanting to get out of bed.
Jiang Qingyue quickly stopped her. “What do you want? I’ll have a servant get it.”
Wen Wuxin sighed. “This is Miss Jiang’s room. It’s not appropriate for me to rest here.”
Jiang Qingyue’s face lit up, and she said eagerly, “Okay, then let’s go back to our bedroom…”
Wen Wuxin interrupted. “I’m going home.”
Jiang Qingyue and Jiang Qingyue both knew that this “home” could not be the Jiang family’s main residence.
Jiang Qingyue couldn’t even maintain a forced smile. “Xin Xin, you…”
Wen Wuxin looked at Jiang Qingyue, then at Jiang Qingyue, and said blandly, “We’re not on the same path.”
Wen Wuxin’s action wasn’t to actually move out. She knew that Jiang Qingyue wouldn’t let her do that.
But it was fine to leave for a few days to get some peace and quiet. It was also a good opportunity to spend a few more days with that man, Tang Yanzhen, and get to the bottom of his intentions.
Seeing that Jiang Qingyue still wanted to explain, Wen Wuxin sighed. She looked at those affectionate peach blossom eyes. “I’m very tired and want to be alone. Can I?”
Jiang Qingyue took the initiative. “I’ll take you.”
Jiang Qingyue was annoyed that Jiang Qingyue was once again seizing the opportunity in such a situation, but seeing the tired look on Wen Wuxin’s face, she could only force herself to swallow her anger.
So what if Jiang Qingyue got a little advantage? After seeing Wen Wuxin’s behavior last night, Jiang Qingyue felt a lot more at ease.
Wen Wuxin still loves me. Even if it was a little insincere at first, she must love me very much now.
So what if she and Jiang Qingyue grew up together? In the end, I came after and took the lead.
The more Jiang Qingyue thought about it, the better she felt, so she didn’t argue with Jiang Qingyue. “Then I’ll have to trouble my sister to take my lover.”
Jiang Qingyue ignored Jiang Qingyue. She carefully helped Wen Wuxin to the underground garage.
She had a lot of company business to attend to today, so Jiang Qingyue headed to the company first.
As for Wen Wuxin, who was sitting in Jiang Qingyue’s car, she looked at the increasingly unfamiliar scenery outside the window and finally realized that something was wrong.
This wasn’t the way to her home.
