Chapter 46: Don’t Think About Leaving Me
Wen Wuxin looked at the scenery outside the window and said calmly, “Miss Jiang, if you have other things to attend to, you don’t have to take me all the way. You can just drop me off at any intersection.”
Jiang Qingyue quietly looked ahead and said nothing.
Wen Wuxin’s tone softened. “…Sister Qingyue, don’t be like this.”
Jiang Qingyue said blandly, “Why aren’t you calling me Miss Jiang anymore?”
Wen Wuxin pinched her fingers. “I’m sorry.”
The conversation started so abruptly and ended so inexplicably.
With Wen Wuxin’s apology, the atmosphere fell into silence again.
Seeing this, Wen Wuxin took out her phone, intending to contact Jiang Qingyue, but found that her phone was out of battery.
She had fainted at her own home last night and woke up at the Jiang family’s home today, and she hadn’t had time to charge her phone.
Jiang Qingyue was calm and composed. “If you’re tired, you can take a nap. You haven’t fully recovered yet, so get more rest.”
How can I sleep in this situation? Wen Wuxin complained in her heart, but she really did fall asleep with the warm air conditioning.
Perhaps her body was too weak at the moment. After arriving at their destination, Jiang Qingyue called Wen Wuxin twice. When she saw that the other person still hadn’t opened her eyes, she simply picked her up.
In a daze, she felt like she was being held, but her body was too heavy, and the person’s embrace was so safe and reliable that Wen Wuxin didn’t open her eyes.
“…Xin Xin.”
Wen Wuxin was woken up by a gentle female voice. She sat up from the sofa, and the cashmere blanket draped over her slid to the floor.
The aroma of food filled the air. Jiang Qingyue, who was wearing an apron, bent down slightly. “Get up and have lunch. It’s all your favorite food.”
Considering that Wen Wuxin had just recovered from a serious illness, Jiang Qingyue had made some light dishes, but at a glance, they were still a feast for the eyes, nose, and taste buds.
Wen Wuxin’s voice was hoarse. “Where is this?”
Jiang Qingyue smiled. “Our home.”
Wen Wuxin looked around. This should be a large flat-floor apartment in the city center. Through the floor-to-ceiling windows, she could see the tall buildings in the distance.
And the decoration of this apartment was a perfect fit for Wen Wuxin’s aesthetic.
Wen Wuxin pretended not to notice Jiang Qingyue’s thoughtfulness. “I’ll leave after I eat. Otherwise, I’ll be in the way of your work, Sister Qingyue.”
Jiang Qingyue took off her apron and sat down next to Wen Wuxin.
She casually put her arm around the other person’s waist. With just a little force, Wen Wuxin fell into her arms.
“You’ve made some progress. You’re not calling me Miss Jiang every other word anymore,” Jiang Qingyue teased.
Wen Wuxin didn’t think this was the time for jokes. She pushed Jiang Qingyue away. “I said I’ve always seen you as a sister.”
Jiang Qingyue took the opportunity to let go and get up, changing the subject. “Let’s go eat. You’re too thin.”
Wen Wuxin had no choice but to follow Jiang Qingyue to the dining room.
Among all the dishes on the table, the fried mushrooms, which weren’t a main course, were placed in the center.
Seeing Wen Wuxin pick up a piece of fried mushroom and put it in her mouth, Jiang Qingyue asked tentatively, “How is it?”
Wen Wuxin nodded. “It’s delicious.”
It was the same taste she had always liked.
Jiang Qingyue also picked up other dishes for Wen Wuxin. The two of them chatted casually, which had a bit of the old feeling to it.
“I’m full,” Wen Wuxin put down her chopsticks and rubbed her stomach. She had eaten much more than usual this meal and was a little bloated.
Jiang Qingyue said gently, “Go watch some TV if you’re full. I’ll be there after I clean up here.”
Wen Wuxin looked like she wanted to say something but held back. In the end, she went to the living room.
Her phone was dead, and she didn’t have a charger with her, so she could only turn on the TV and watch a not-so-funny variety show.
The people on the TV were laughing happily, but Wen Wuxin had no smile on her face.
She had to leave.
Otherwise, once Jiang Qingyue noticed that something was wrong, she would definitely argue with Jiang Qingyue.
Fifteen minutes later.
After tidying up, Jiang Qingyue walked toward Wen Wuxin. “What are you watching? I recently bought dozens of movie DVDs. Xin Xin, see if there’s anything you like, and we can watch it together…”
“Sister,” Wen Wuxin said softly, “I have to go.”
Jiang Qingyue ignored her. “Do you want to watch an old classic or a new sci-fi movie?”
Wen Wuxin tried to stand up, but Jiang Qingyue grabbed her arm after she stood up. With a gasp, Wen Wuxin fell back onto Jiang Qingyue’s lap.
Jiang Qingyue sniffed Wen Wuxin’s hair. “Are you still using the same shampoo as before? It smells so good.”
Warm air hit Wen Wuxin’s neck and shoulders. Wen Wuxin struggled to get up, but she was held even more tightly in the other person’s embrace.
Wen Wuxin’s breathing was ragged. “Sister, don’t be like this.”
“Don’t be like this, how?” Jiang Qingyue kissed the other person’s collarbone.
Wen Wuxin was truly helpless. The Jiang Qingyue now was a completely different person from the one she remembered.
“I really see you as a sister. You, you can’t do this,” Wen Wuxin’s voice was filled with panic.
Jiang Qingyue let out a small laugh. “Sister? But Xin Xin,” she tightened her embrace, as if she wanted to melt the other person into her own flesh and bl00d, “I’ve long stopped wanting to play the sisterly love game with you.”
“You don’t know, but originally, I was planning to wait for you…”
Jiang Qingyue’s words stopped halfway. She simply picked up Wen Wuxin in her arms and walked toward the bedroom.
Her body suddenly became airborne, and Wen Wuxin instinctively wrapped her arms around Jiang Qingyue’s slender neck.
This action obviously pleased Jiang Qingyue. She even bounced the person in her arms. “You’re too thin.”
Wen Wuxin’s mind was still in a state of shock until she was gently placed on the bed. She watched as Jiang Qingyue took off her jacket, knelt on the bed with her right knee, and slowly moved closer to her.
“How was Jiang Qingyue’s taste?” Jiang Qingyue asked nonchalantly.
Wen Wuxin’s cheeks instantly flushed, whether from anger or embarrassment.
But Jiang Qingyue smiled. “I’m so jealous of her. She took everything from me, including you.”
Wen Wuxin was the flower Jiang Qingyue had carefully nurtured. She was waiting for this budding flower to blossom, but she never expected it to be picked by the person she hated the most.
Wen Wuxin’s face instantly turned pale.
That’s right, Jiang Qingyue grew up smoothly as the daughter of the Jiang family, while Jiang Qingyue had experienced hardships and difficulties outside.
Wen Wuxin suddenly realized that she had always been thinking from the perspective of wanting Jiang Qingyue to become the heir of the Jiang family, but she had never considered Jiang Qingyue’s feelings.
What she was doing… might really be too cruel to Jiang Qingyue.
But she really couldn’t turn back.
“People can’t dwell on the past. They have to look forward. You will have a bright and beautiful future.”
Wen Wuxin’s comfort was dry and unconvincing.
Jiang Qingyue shook her head. “Whether in the past or the future, I only want you to be by my side. Xin Xin, you still don’t understand.”
Wen Wuxin’s voice was dry. “I can still be with you in the future, sister.”
Jiang Qingyue let out a laugh. “As a sister-in-law?”
Wen Wuxin was speechless.
“Xin Xin, I’m not as generous as you think. There are some things I can’t be indifferent to.”
Jiang Qingyue’s voice was still as gentle as water, but Wen Wuxin inexplicably felt a sense of danger.
“Calm down,” Wen Wuxin propped her hands on the bed, trying to move away. “Let’s go to the living room and have a good talk.”
Jiang Qingyue blocked her path. “It doesn’t look like you want to have a good talk with me. So don’t go.”
Wen Wuxin looked at the forceful Jiang Qingyue, and a look of disbelief finally flashed in her eyes. “…You weren’t like this before.”
Jiang Qingyue didn’t care at all. “The old me wasn’t the real me. Xin Xin, since you chose Jiang Qingyue, there’s no need for me to play the role of the good sister in front of you anymore.”
Wen Wuxin’s dependence on Jiang Qingyue yesterday was still fresh in her mind. Every time Jiang Qingyue thought about it, she would be so jealous she would almost go crazy.
The distance between them was getting closer and closer. Wen Wuxin had nowhere to hide.
Jiang Qingyue’s voice became ethereal and seductive. Her fingertips lightly traced Wen Wuxin’s eyebrows and eyes, then moved down to unbutton the top of Wen Wuxin’s dress.
“If Jiang Qingyue can have you, and I have the same body as her, do you want to taste me? I promise, I’m a thousand times better than her.”
While saying words that sounded like she was offering herself up, Jiang Qingyue’s actions were both gentle and forceful. In just a short while, Wen Wuxin’s eyes became misty.
Wen Wuxin was aroused.
Jiang Qingyue smiled with satisfaction. “See? Your body is always honest with me.”
Whether it was her dependence in the past or her desire now.
The heaving in Wen Wuxin’s chest became more and more pronounced. The eyes that were about to be consumed by desire were suddenly filled with tears. The sorrow in her eyes was about to become tangible and overflow.
“I hate you,” Wen Wuxin said, crying.
Jiang Qingyue froze, as if in disbelief.
Wen Wuxin lay on the soft bed. She used her forearm to cover her eyes, but tears still flowed from the corners of her eyes, soaking the sheets.
Saying words that went against her heart and made her heart ache, Wen Wuxin continued intermittently, “I hate you. Everyone already had a happy ending. Why do you have to do this? Is it because you can’t accept that I don’t love you, or is it because you can’t accept that I love Jiang Qingyue?”
Jiang Qingyue tried to move the other person’s arm, but Wen Wuxin screamed in return. “Don’t touch me!”
Wen Wuxin’s breathing became ragged. She had only one thought in her mind.
Hate me. Hate me. It’s best if we just go our separate ways.
She had already pulled Jiang Qingyue into the abyss with her. How could she still greedily try to get Jiang Qingyue’s pure love?
But after a long time, she heard Jiang Qingyue’s voice, which was as dry and lifeless as a withered tree.
“…Liar.”
A warm liquid dropped onto Wen Wuxin’s face. It wasn’t hard to guess whose tears they were.
But Jiang Qingyue’s voice didn’t have a single trace of crying. It was even very calm.
“You were the one who grabbed my arm and said that I would always be your sister alone.”
Wen Wuxin’s heart tightened. “They were just a child’s nonsense words. How can you take them seriously?”
“I took them seriously,” Jiang Qingyue said softly.
Perhaps it was because Jiang Qingyue’s voice was too calm that a sense of unease rose in Wen Wuxin’s heart. She moved her arm away. Before she could clearly see Jiang Qingyue’s expression, a hand covered her eyes.
“Don’t look at me,” Jiang Qingyue’s voice was a little slow. “I’m very ugly right now.”
