Chapter 5: D*mmit, Even a Blockhead is Cute
The staff member in the front was about to explain but then saw the pair of peach blossom eyes in the rearview mirror.
With just a look from Jiang Qingyue, the staff member understood and said, “Yes.”
Wen Wuxin simply hummed, not finding it strange at all. Given Jiang Qingyue’s style, it wasn’t surprising for her to book out the entire island.
Before long, the two arrived at their accommodation. Compared to the Jiang family’s main house, this villa was naturally small, but for Jiang Qingyue and Wen Wuxin, who were the only two staying there, the size was just right.
“I checked the weather forecast, and it’s going to be sunny for the next few days. Xin Xin, whether you want to sunbathe, go deep-sea fishing, or scuba diving, anything is possible.”
Wen Wuxin looked at Jiang Qingyue. “What about you? Is there anything you’d particularly like to do?”
Jiang Qingyue smiled. “Whatever Xin Xin does, I’ll do.”
Wen Wuxin thought for a moment. “Let’s eat first, and then we can go for a walk on the beach.”
A feast of local seafood was already prepared in the dining room. Wen Wuxin sat down and noticed an expensive-looking bottle of wine on the side.
“Dry white wine?” Wen Wuxin asked.
Jiang Qingyue smiled and nodded. “It goes very well with seafood. Would you like a glass?”
Wen Wuxin didn’t refuse.
The clear glass was soon filled with a pale lemon-yellow liquid. The two glasses clinked together, making a crisp sound.
Wen Wuxin took a small sip. The wine was smooth and soft, with a prominent acidity and fruity aroma. It wasn’t high in alcohol content and was very refreshing.
Seeing the look of pleasant surprise on her face, Jiang Qingyue suggested, “If you like it, next time we can fly directly to the winery to pick out some more.”
Wen Wuxin didn’t nod or shake her head. She just used her fork to pick up a piece of tender crab meat.
“The ingredients are very fresh.”
Jiang Qingyue was a little proud. “They were just caught from the sea today, so of course they’re fresh. I’m glad you like them.”
The meal was very harmonious, and the weight on Jiang Qingyue’s heart finally lifted.
It seemed that Wen Wuxin had recovered a lot and was no longer angry with her.
After the meal, the staff drove the two to the beach.
Beach chairs with umbrellas were already set up on the sand. Jiang Qingyue said with a serious tone, “Xin Xin, the sun is very strong right now.”
Wen Wuxin said, “Oh. Should we ask the staff for some sun-protective clothing?”
Jiang Qingyue felt that sometimes Wen Wuxin could be very seductive, but most of the time, she wished the other woman wasn’t such a blockhead when it came to flirting.
But she also loved this side of Wen Wuxin, and perhaps even preferred it.
The world admired Wen Wuxin’s talent, but Jiang Qingyue, for some reason, adored her clumsiness.
So Jiang Qingyue took out the sunscreen she had already prepared and abruptly changed the subject. “If you put this on, you won’t get sunburned.”
Wen Wuxin’s beautiful eyes glanced at the sunscreen in Jiang Qingyue’s hand, then shifted back to her.
Jiang Qingyue felt a little self-conscious from the stare. “Wha-what’s wrong?”
Wen Wuxin let go of her hand, turned, and lay down on a beach chair. She lay on her side, resting her head on one hand, and said in a natural tone, “Aren’t you going to put sunscreen on me?”
Jiang Qingyue couldn’t help but laugh heartily, clutching the sunscreen.
The original romantic atmosphere completely disappeared, and she no longer had the heart to flirt. Squeezing some of the milky white sunscreen into her uninjured hand, Jiang Qingyue carefully and meticulously applied the sunscreen to all of Wen Wuxin’s exposed skin.
Her painter was fair and delicate, and without proper sun protection, she could easily get sunburned.
Jiang Qingyue was fully engaged in her task and couldn’t help but sigh. “I’ve realized that I truly enjoy taking care of you.”
Wen Wuxin, who had just laid down to have her back lotioned, comfortably enjoyed the treatment.
“…All done.”
Jiang Qingyue finally finished and was very satisfied with her work.
But Wen Wuxin grabbed her hand, and in an instant, their positions were reversed.
“Qingyue, your turn.”
It was only then that Jiang Qingyue reacted. She handed the bottle of sunscreen to the other woman.
She looked relaxed as she lay on the beach chair, but in reality, she was using this time to think about the next few days.
I wonder if Wen Wuxin will like the preparations I’ve made? And the engagement, will she agree? What do I have to do to make her…
“Huh?”
Jiang Qingyue, whose mind had drifted far away, suddenly felt a coolness on her chest.
Wen Wuxin had unbuttoned the top of her dress with one hand.
After arriving on the island, Jiang Qingyue had already changed into a cool, V-neck long dress. Wen Wuxin’s action made her beauty completely visible.
Wen Wuxin had never been so forward before, and Jiang Qingyue was so shocked that she didn’t react at all.
Wen Wuxin, the person who did it, seemed completely unaware of the other woman’s reaction. She folded the fabric of the collar outward.
If she didn’t, the sunscreen would easily rub off and stain the collar before it had a chance to dry.
Wen Wuxin was focused on her task, and the look in her eyes was as serious as when she was painting.
Jiang Qingyue soon realized why she was doing this, but the other woman’s seriousness only made her body temperature rise.
The painter’s fingertips were soft, but her knuckles were calloused from long hours of painting. The rough, hard calluses unintentionally brushed against Jiang Qingyue’s skin, causing her to shiver.
Jiang Qingyue’s heart was beating so fast it felt like it couldn’t handle the strain. Her mind was wandering at an inappropriate moment.
Who said this genius painter didn’t know how to flirt and stir up emotions? This genius painter was an expert at making Jiang Qingyue’s heart race.
She wanted to be bad, to engage in lustful acts with her in broad daylight. This single thought almost completely consumed Jiang Qingyue’s mind.
Wen Wuxin, who hadn’t finished applying the sunscreen, found her wrist being held. She asked in confusion, “What’s wrong?”
Did I miss a spot?
“It’s nothing. You don’t have to put any more on,” Jiang Qingyue said softly, suppressing her surging desires.
A heat emanated from her wrist. Wen Wuxin frowned. “Why are you so hot?”
She reached out and lightly pressed the back of her hand against the other woman’s forehead, but her temperature was normal. She didn’t have a fever.
“If you don’t feel well, we can go back and rest,” Wen Wuxin suggested, just to be safe, even though she didn’t understand why the other woman was acting this way.
Jiang Qingyue poked Wen Wuxin’s forehead between her eyebrows.
“Blockhead.”
The blockhead didn’t understand why the other woman would say that, but she just took Jiang Qingyue’s hand. “Let’s go back.”
Jiang Qingyue pulled her back, and Wen Wuxin, losing her balance, sat on her lap. “I’m fine. Let’s go for a walk.”
Only after confirming that Jiang Qingyue was really okay did Wen Wuxin agree. “Alright.”
As they walked along the beach, their feet sank into the soft sand with each step, enjoying the peacefulness.
The clear, blue seawater would occasionally wash up, gently touching their ankles.
“Hmm?”
Jiang Qingyue noticed that Wen Wuxin had suddenly let go of her hand.
Wen Wuxin picked up her pace and walked ahead alone. Her soft, black hair swayed lightly with her movements, and the ruffles on her light yellow short skirt trembled, indicating her good mood.
Wen Wuxin walked a few meters, then crouched down. She pushed the sand aside and picked up a seashell.
Jiang Qingyue came over to her. “You want to pick up shells?”
Wen Wuxin nodded. “I want to make a seashell bracelet for you,” she said without thinking. Realizing her mistake, she quickly added, “…Never mind. It’s not worth anything.”
Wen Wuxin had given paintings to Jiang Qingyue. Her paintings were worth a fortune, so they were worthy of Jiang Qingyue’s attention. But a seashell bracelet was different.
It wasn’t an exaggeration to call it a worthless trinket. All the jewelry Jiang Qingyue wore daily was worth millions. A seashell bracelet would be far too shabby.
Jiang Qingyue also crouched down, hugging her knees and looking at Wen Wuxin pitifully. “Why are you regretting it? I’m so sad.”
Wen Wuxin’s eyes darted around. “It’s not worth anything. You probably wouldn’t even look at it.”
“Everything you give me is priceless,” Jiang Qingyue quickly interjected.
Wen Wuxin started looking for new seashells. “As long as you don’t mind.”
“How could I mind?” The bright and bold beauty now looked like a puppy wagging its tail, following Wen Wuxin with longing eyes. “I’ve carefully kept every gift you’ve ever given me.”
Wen Wuxin didn’t reply, her expression serious as she searched for seashells buried in the sand.
“By the way,” Jiang Qingyue said, dragging out the words and pretending to be confused, “do you know what a seashell bracelet symbolizes?”
Only a person who is a lover would give a seashell bracelet.
Jiang Qingyue was asking even though she knew the answer. Wen Wuxin’s love for her was always boundless, but she was greedy and wanted to confirm it over and over again.
Even a slow-witted person like Wen Wuxin knew what the other woman wanted her to say, but she just pursed her lips slightly, a flash of a smile in her eyes.
Wen Wuxin picked up a yellow seashell.
“Qingyue, a yellow seashell.”
Jiang Qingyue didn’t quite understand. “Hmm, it’s very pretty.”
Wen Wuxin stood up, washed the yellow seashell in the seawater, and held it with one hand. “Qingyue, do you know what a bracelet made of yellow seashells symbolizes?”
Jiang Qingyue’s brain had stopped working. She was overwhelmed with happiness.
Wen Wuxin is going to confess her love for me again!
But who knew the cold beauty across from her would smile and say, “Wearing a bracelet made of yellow seashells brings wealth and good fortune.”
Jiang Qingyue, who had just received a wonderful blessing, wilted.
“What’s the point of me having more money if you don’t spend it…”
Jiang Qingyue looked like she was about to fall apart.
Wen Wuxin was very confused. “How am I not spending your money? You’ve given me so many things.”
Jiang Qingyue gritted her teeth and stared at the completely innocent yellow seashell. “You know I gave those things to you, Xin Xin. I’m the one who offered them, but you’ve never once asked me for anything.”
Jiang Qingyue was always generous with her lovers. Money, jewelry, mansions, or resources in various fields—she would give it to them if they asked.
But Wen Wuxin was the exception. She always received paintings from Wen Wuxin, but never any requests.
Wen Wuxin remained unfazed. “But Qingyue, I don’t want your money.”
