Boss, Please Go Easy On Me (GL) - Chapter 14
An Yao looked up at her, a little annoyed yet unable to fully vent, with a slight pout. Her awful mood, which had been tormented by her period for a long time, improved slightly.
An Yao leaned against the back of the chair and extended her hand to Yan Xiaomi. Yan Xiaomi reluctantly handed the phone back to her, then mumbled a question, “Why?”
“I like it.” An Yao subtly curved her lips. Yan Xiaomi saw that she was deliberately trying to tease her. She pouted, and whispered, “Even if you don’t hold my secret against me, I’ll still be very obedient, CEO An.”
An Yao raised an eyebrow, amused, and placed her index finger on her lips. Suppressing her laughter, she looked at Yan Xiaomi’s embarrassed expression and said seriously, “You think I plan to use those little photos to threaten you?”
“If you’re not threatening me, why won’t you delete them?” Yan Xiaomi grumbled, cautiously glancing at her.
“Perhaps I am.” An Yao wanted to keep the photos purely because she found them amusing. She could take them out to look at for some fun when she was bored. She thought that teasing Yan Xiaomi was quite entertaining, and she leisurely added, “If you dare to be late again, I’ll post your photos on the company website.”
“Don’t do that. Aren’t you afraid of losing face?” Yan Xiaomi realized she was getting a little too excited and immediately deflated, meekly saying, “I belong to you.”
“You belong to me?” An Yao’s question was rather ambiguous, and she was a little exasperated.
Yan Xiaomi also felt that this sounded a lot like something a woman would say to flirt with a man. Ew… Yan Xiaomi was grossed out by her own cheesy words.
“Don’t I work for you, CEO An? Wouldn’t people gossip about your assistant, saying something bad? That would look bad for you, right?”
Mhmm, this sounded much more reasonable and logical. Yan Xiaomi mentally gave herself a thumbs-up for her quick wit.
“It won’t,” An Yao glanced at her computer, clicked open the company website, and said casually, “The worst that can happen is I replace the assistant.”
A bolt from the blue!
Yan Xiaomi immediately leaned closer to her, “How can you be like that, CEO An? Although my intelligence often goes offline, and I haven’t been able to help you much, I have a heart that loves my job and cares for you. That counts for something, even if it’s not credit, right? How can you easily replace me?”
The more Yan Xiaomi spoke, the more wronged she felt. Her nerves were particularly sensitive at this moment. The thought of An Yao wanting to fire her made her chest tight, and she felt an inexplicable wave of sadness.
An Yao was exasperated as she listened to her finish that speech. She looked at her for a long time, finally stopping her smile and saying, “Are you stupid?”
“I am stupid, I…”
An Yao laughed, unable to hold back, covering her mouth to chuckle.
Yan Xiaomi was dumbfounded. Her currently invisible intelligence finally came online and realized she had been tricked. She wanted to cry. This was the perfect time to push An Yao, like those girls, and say shyly, “CEO An, you are so annoying~”
If it were Tong Xi, it might be possible, but An Yao? Forget it. She couldn’t afford to provoke her, but she could avoid her. “CEO An, if you don’t need anything else, I’ll go out now.”
Yan Xiaomi walked away a little dejectedly. An Yao stopped smiling and was stunned.
“Stop.”
An Yao’s voice came from behind her, cold and distant. It was a tone Yan Xiaomi was very familiar with, but for some reason, she felt a little choked up now. She didn’t turn around and stick to her like a puppy, wagging her tail, as she usually would. Now, she just felt very down and mysteriously didn’t want to talk.
An Yao’s stomach suddenly started hurting again. She looked at Yan Xiaomi’s stiff back, endured the pain, stood up, walked over to her, and reached out to rub her short hair. Her cool fingers ran through the hair, touching the skin, causing a tingling, fuzzy sensation. Yan Xiaomi was slightly distracted.
“Are you angry?” An Yao asked very seriously, looking at her with equally serious eyes. Her brows were slightly furrowed due to the stomach pain.
An Yao smoothed her ruffled hair again. Seeing that she wasn’t speaking, she sighed softly, “I was joking. Don’t take it seriously.”
Yan Xiaomi still didn’t speak, her attention completely focused on the strange sensation An Yao’s hand brought. It was a bit like the feeling of a warm wind blowing over her, soft and very comfortable.
An Yao suddenly reached out and hooked her chin, “Why are you spacing out?”
“No, nothing,” Yan Xiaomi came back to her senses and looked at An Yao, a little embarrassed, “I’m not angry, I just…” Yan Xiaomi looked at the hand covering An Yao’s stomach and her slightly furrowed brows. She didn’t care about the “just” anymore, “Does your stomach hurt again?”
She quickly helped An Yao sit down, “I’ll get you a glass of hot water.”
Yan Xiaomi eagerly ran out to get hot water. An Yao looked at her hurried figure and was a little touched. Yan Xiaomi wasn’t wrong. Although her work efficiency was average, she did genuinely put An Yao’s affairs first. An Yao accepted her kindness because she was simple-minded and adorably silly. Keeping her around was really just to add some vitality to a boring office life.
An Yao even felt that Yan Xiaomi didn’t need grand talent. She only needed average work skills and a simple, kind heart. An Yao could handle everything else.
“Be careful, CEO An. It’s a little hot.”
Yan Xiaomi returned all sweaty, carefully holding a cup of water and handing it to An Yao. On such a hot day, most people didn’t drink hot water. Yan Xiaomi had run up several floors to get hot water and then rushed back. The paper cup was so small, and she had spilled more than half of it.
When An Yao took the paper cup, she suddenly didn’t know what to say. It seemed that ever since she left home, she had lived independently. She could do everything herself and endure everything herself. She didn’t need others to do much, so she was often the one quietly giving, and receiving seemed to be a rare occurrence.
Li Wei Sa would be kind to her, but that was because she was also kind to Li Wei Sa, and they had been friends for many years.
But this silly girl in front of her, a layer of sweat covering her delicate face, her hair sticking to her forehead after she wiped it, she was breathing heavily, very ungraceful and unrefined. Yet, the concern in her eyes was genuine. Yan Xiaomi didn’t owe An Yao anything. The only thing she was indebted for was An Yao making her her assistant. Perhaps this was the reason she was so kind to An Yao, but her silly, simple appearance was deeply etched in An Yao’s mind, along with the soft touch of her lips and the comforting coolness of her short hair.
“Thank you.” An Yao took a sip of the warm water, looked seriously at Yan Xiaomi, and said, “Yan Xiaomi, from now on, you are my only assistant until I retire. Are you ready?”
“Huh???” Yan Xiaomi blinked, a little confused. After a long pause, she asked, “Does that mean I can’t leave even if another company offers a higher salary?”
“You want to go?” An Yao glanced at her, suddenly remembering that this little girl, Yan Xiaomi, was someone who loved money and was short on cash.
“No, I don’t want to go.” Afraid An Yao would change her mind, Yan Xiaomi immediately corrected herself, “Your humble servant vows eternal loyalty to CEO An, to follow you in life and death.”
“Who needs you to follow me in life and death?” An Yao was amused. “My meaning is, if you don’t want to do this anymore, you can leave anytime. I won’t stop you. But if you don’t leave, I won’t replace you.”
“Really?” Yan Xiaomi looked at An Yao in pleasant surprise, suddenly pouncing to hug An Yao’s waist, “CEO An, you made a solemn promise that you won’t take back. Xiaomi is so touched~~~”
An Yao was startled by her embrace and frowned in pain. Hearing Yan Xiaomi’s words, she also found it funny. The combination of emotions was almost unbearable. She reached out and severely ruffled her soft hair, “Get off, it hurts.”
“Oh, oh, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, CEO An.” Yan Xiaomi, still a bit simple-minded, reached out and rubbed An Yao’s stomach, “Does it hurt badly? I’ll rub it for you.”
An Yao’s nerves tensed up the moment she touched her. She shrank back to the side, slapped her hand away, “Don’t rub. It tickles.”
