Boss, Please Go Easy On Me (GL) - Chapter 17
On the walk back, Yan Xiaomi was very quiet. She had always been quiet in front of An Yao, but today she seemed a bit distracted.
“Red light.” An Yao pulled the person who was walking ahead with her head down. There were only two traffic lights on this road, and she almost ran both of them.
“Ah? Oh, oh.” Yan Xiaomi reacted, awkwardly reaching out to scratch her hair, and gave a foolish smile.
An Yao reached out and rubbed her hair, saying softly, like comforting a child, “If you can’t figure it out, don’t think about it. Just pretend you didn’t hear it.”
She must be thinking about what she said at the Bailey Tower earlier. This person wears everything on her face, she doesn’t even know how to hide it.
“I… I wasn’t thinking,” Yan Xiaomi smiled awkwardly and scratched her head again. When she was nervous or a little confused and overwhelmed, she liked to scratch her hair, which made her look very innocent and clumsy.
“Mhm.” An Yao glanced at her. The light turned green, and she stepped forward.
Yan Xiaomi walked beside her, turning her head to look at her calm expression. She always felt that in front of An Yao, nothing was a big deal. Whether you know it or not, it won’t affect her anyway. This easygoing honesty was truly admirable.
Although she said she wasn’t thinking in front of An Yao, Yan Xiaomi couldn’t help but think a lot. She couldn’t be as indifferent as An Yao, nor could she be as open-minded. The issue exploded in her heart like a bomb. She thought about questions she had never considered before while walking, such as Why would a woman like a woman? Won’t it be strange for women to live together? Also, how do two women make love?
Yan Xiaomi lay on the bed, hugging a blue dolphin, staring blankly at the ceiling. One question bothered her a lot. After musing and guessing for a while, she finally got up and turned on her computer.
She searched Baidu for ‘how do lesbians make love?’ She found a variety of similar answers. Yan Xiaomi timidly clicked on one, which mostly mentioned using hands or mouths, and some talked about using s3x toys. Yan Xiaomi stopped reading and immediately closed the page.
Her mind didn’t feel like she had discovered a new continent; instead, she felt, well, I guess that’s the only way.
Having accepted that this was a normal thing, she suddenly became interested in another matter. Gay men have a circle, so lesbians must have one too.
Searching for ‘lesbians’ on Baidu Tieba (Baidu’s forum), several related forums came up. Yan Xiaomi clicked on the first one. This time, it felt like opening up a whole new world. The abundance of lesbians made Yan Xiaomi feel a little unusual. A straight woman sneaking into a lesbian forum felt like she was committing a crime.
She scanned the posts, which were varied: looking for friends, keeping logs, and even live broadcasts.
Yan Xiaomi was more interested in live broadcasts. Didn’t live broadcasts talk about their lives and stuff? Especially posts about straight girls being bent made her laugh, and she was curious about how they got bent. She casually clicked on a live broadcast post.
The poster must be a very funny person. The tone of the writing felt humorous. Reading through it was like reading a novel, and she didn’t feel unaccustomed at all. In some places, she couldn’t help but find the poster very funny and the couple very cute. She got excited and laughed foolishly, continuing to scroll.
After finishing one live broadcast post, Yan Xiaomi looked at the time, froze for two seconds, and blinked, thinking she had misread it. It was clearly only ten o’clock before she started reading the post, so how was it already twelve?
“I’m dead, dead, dead!” Yan Xiaomi quickly shut down the computer, pulled the thin blanket over herself, closed her eyes, and went to sleep. But whenever she remembered the funny parts in the post, she couldn’t help but want to laugh. Yan Xiaomi felt she was losing her mind. A straight woman reading a lesbian post and getting so excited—she was truly beyond silly!
The next day, Yan Xiaomi went to work with dark circles under her eyes. An Yao was amused when she saw her. “Were you out stealing last night?”
“No, I went to bed very early.” After saying it, Yan Xiaomi realized she was lying with her eyes open. But technically, early morning counts as early, right?
“You’re almost catching up to a national treasure,” An Yao said with a smile as she walked past her. Yan Xiaomi breathed a sigh of relief. She almost didn’t wake up this morning. She was literally dying of sleepiness!
Yan Xiaomi went to get herself a cup of coffee. She usually added sugar, but today, to fight off the drowsiness, she forced herself to drink a cup of black coffee. Yan Xiaomi drank the coffee as if it were medicine, and suddenly felt much more alert. This stuff really worked; it stimulated the nerves without missing a beat.
She rinsed her mouth to get rid of the bitterness and then poured a cup of warm water for An Yao.
Yan Xiaomi put the water down and handed over the documents in her hand. “President An, these are the design drafts just brought over by the design department.”
An Yao took the warm water and took a sip before picking up the documents. After flipping one page, her brow furrowed slightly, and her voice was a little cold. “Go call the head of the design department.”
Seeing An Yao’s expression, Yan Xiaomi knew there was a problem with the design draft. She immediately nodded and responded, “Yes.”
When Yan Xiaomi found the head of the design department, she kindly warned him, “Director Li, President An might not be in a good mood. Take care of yourself.”
Hearing this, Li Hai felt even more anxious. He took a deep breath before walking into An Yao’s office. Yan Xiaomi silently mourned for him behind his back. A woman on her period has unstable emotions, and bothering her now would surely lead to a miserable end. Moreover, President An was always very strict, aside from occasional unexpected tenderness.
Ten minutes later, Li Hai came out, opening the door. Yan Xiaomi saw him taking a deep breath and carefully asked, “Director Li, are you alright?”
“No, I’m fine,” Li Hai forced a calm smile, then took the design drafts and returned to the design department.
At noon, Yan Xiaomi went to the cafeteria for lunch and heard the beauty from the design department next to her say that Director Li had lost his temper and was very scary. Her first thought was An Yao. It must be because An Yao had yelled at Director Li, and he had nowhere to vent his anger but on his subordinates. That’s just how companies are: level-by-level pressure.
In Yan Xiaomi’s impression, An Yao’s anger was always very cold. She never shouted, and just a cold glance was enough to make people tremble.
Thinking of An Yao, hasn’t she eaten yet?
Yan Xiaomi took out her phone and called An Yao. “President An, do you need me to bring anything up for you?”
“No need.”
“It’s already noon, aren’t you hungry? You should eat something,” Yan Xiaomi was a little anxious, afraid An Yao would hang up on her.
There was silence for a while before An Yao said, “I want to eat white chocolate cake.”
White chocolate cake…
Yan Xiaomi immediately thought of Professor Yan. Is President An thinking about her aunt right now?
Yan Xiaomi quickly finished her meal and went to a cake shop to buy a small cake. On her way back, she opened her phone and saw a text message. She didn’t have time to read it and went upstairs.
An Yao was momentarily stunned when she saw the white chocolate cake in Yan Xiaomi’s hand. As Yan Xiaomi opened the box, she asked, “Did you receive the text message?”
Text message? Yan Xiaomi quickly pulled out her phone. “President An, I’m sorry, I didn’t know you sent it. I haven’t had a chance to read it.”
Yan Xiaomi quickly opened the text message. Huh? It wasn’t from President An; it was… from Auntie.
It was only one sentence, in Professor Yan’s usual cheerful tone.
— Beauties, I’m getting married! It’s on the 27th of this month. Remember to come be my bridesmaids ∼
