- Chapter 22 - Do You Want Me to Give You a Full Examination Myself?
The car pulled into the hospital parking lot. Han Yezhen got out first, while Li Mohan remained seated.
Unhurried, Han Yezhen walked around the front of the car to her side. He opened the door, leaning down from outside to look at her.
His voice carried no warmth. “Get out.”
Her slender white fingers stiffened, but she still didn’t move. “Little Uncle, I don’t want to go into the hospital.”
Expressionless, he only lowered his eyes to look at her. The silent weight in his gaze pressed down until it was impossible not to bow to him.
She stayed put. He stayed standing there.
In the end, she lost to him once more and had no choice but to step out.
Seeing her finally comply, Han Yezhen said nothing. He simply turned and headed into the hospital, phone pressed to his ear as he made a call.
Li Mohan trailed right behind him, not knowing why he had brought her here.
He led her into a doctor’s office. Someone was already waiting inside. Han Yezhen spoke: “Get a female doctor. Do some scans.”
The man in the office was Zeng Yan—he’d also been at that singles party.
Zeng Yan called over a female doctor. She asked him, “Dr. Zeng, what did you need me for?”
Before Zeng Yan could answer, Han Yezhen cut in: “Give her a full body examination. Everything. I want a detailed report.”
Li Mohan froze. She lifted her eyes to him, her voice small and timid. “Little Uncle, there’s no need. I just fell, I—”
She didn’t finish. He turned back, looking down at her from above, those dark, fathomless eyes steady and cold. His tone was even. “Do you want me to give you a full examination myself?”
He had her figured out, always choosing exactly what she feared most to pin her down.
Her eyelids twitched. There were other people here, yet he could say such words without batting an eye, words that made imaginations spiral out of control.
Just like in the car earlier—when he’d wanted to force her to confess about the bullying, he had slid his hand into her clothes without hesitation.
What lay between them went far beyond taboo. What uncle and niece would ever do such things?
Terrified he’d say something even more shocking, she could only agree and follow the female doctor for the exam.
Once she left, Han Yezhen couldn’t resist lighting a cigarette.
Zeng Yan glanced at him, teasing, “Lately into this type? She looks tender. Is she even of age?”
The cigarette burned between his handsome fingers, glowing faintly. “She’s my niece.”
He and Zeng Yan had known each other a long time. He spoke plainly—there was no need to hide it.
Zeng Yan raised a brow. He’d seen Han Ziying before. “Han Ziying isn’t like that.”
“The other niece.”
Only then did Zeng Yan recall that the Han family did have another little girl. But he’d heard almost nothing about her.
“So what’s got you suddenly so invested in this niece of yours?”
Han Yezhen was silent, brooding. The smoldering tip of the cigarette reflected in his dark eyes, shadows flickering deep within.
Knowing his temperament, Zeng Yan realized he had no intention of answering. He didn’t press further. The two men smoked in silence.
When Li Mohan emerged, she saw Han Yezhen talking with Zeng Yan.
She didn’t approach, simply sat quietly on a chair in the corridor.
A moment later, the female doctor came out, and Han Yezhen strode toward her.
In his tailored black suit, his tall, lean frame was all the more striking. Immaculate, austere, radiating restrained desire.
As he passed Li Mohan, he gave her only a brief glance. His eyes were dark and cold.
He said nothing, just walked straight past her into the office with the female doctor.
She held a report in her hand, her expression grave. “The girl’s got a high tolerance. For her to endure until now isn’t easy.”
She handed him the report.
Han Yezhen unfolded it, his brow tightening.
The images inside were brutal.
He had seen people beaten badly. He had beaten people badly. But never before had he felt this way—just looking at these pictures struck a chord deep inside him.
These weren’t the same injuries he’d seen before. These were new.
The female doctor confirmed his thoughts. “There are both old and new injuries. Most of today’s are fresh—multiple soft tissue contusions. Fortunately no internal organs or bones were damaged. She must be good at protecting herself.”
Han Yezhen said nothing. His long fingers crumpled the corner of the report, his expression stormy. In his deep, ink-black eyes brewed a violent, dangerous tempest.
