Bro, Don't Study Anymore - Chapter 11
7/10
Campus running—the bane of every college student nationwide.
University A’s campus running requirements mandate completing 50km on the Unirun app, with at least 10 runs and each run over 1km to count towards the score. Voice verification is required halfway through.
The most frustrating part is that only one valid score can be recorded per day, with a maximum of 5km.
When you see many people riding blue or yellow shared bikes around campus, there’s no need to wonder—they’re likely students who haven’t finished their campus runs as the semester end approaches, boosting their kilometers on wheels.
Campus running has essentially turned into campus biking.
Little Tang had just finished his evening study session and was waiting in front of the first academic building for Senior Song to pick him up.
Senior Song had been busy with the lab and competitions this semester, spending all his free time there. As the semester end approached, he realized he hadn’t completed his campus runs.
Campus running counts towards the physical education grade; failing to complete it results in failing the course.
Senior Song’s senior was the first in the class to fail physical education—he never did any campus runs, dragging down his overall grade, and the teacher couldn’t save him, leading to a direct exam ban.
Senior Song rode up on a yellow bike, flashing the lights twice at Little Tang: “Get on.”
Senior Zhang, riding a shared blue bike, rang the bell twice: “Ohayou, junior!”
“Ohayou, Senior Zhang.”
Little Tang sat behind Senior Song, slipping his hands into the pockets of Senior Song’s down jacket and putting on his hat, wrapping himself up tightly.
Winter campus biking requires immense courage and determination.
Yesterday, after biking together, Little Tang’s face and hands were numb, truly experiencing what it means to have “the cold winter wind slap my face.”
Riding side by side, Little Tang buried his head in Senior Song’s back.
His voice was muffled, but he raised it slightly: “Senior Zhang, how many kilometers do you have left for campus running?”
“Ah, it’s so cold…” Senior Zhang sneezed, then proudly said, “Just 4.3 kilometers left. I’ll finish it tonight.”
“Someone’s campus run is only 5 kilometers, sigh…”
Little Tang laughed so hard he shook, tightening his grip on Senior Song and raising his head slightly.
“Hey, Senior Song, he’s talking about you.”
“Don’t worry about me, I have a plan. Five kilometers a day, done in ten days. Any extra is wasted.”
Little Tang replied, “Miss one and you’ll be crying.”
They rode along the outermost loop of the campus, which conveniently led back to the dorms.
The road behind the lab building had no streetlights, but the diligent students in the labs kept the building lights on, illuminating the path.
After passing the lab building and through the Lotus Sea, it was pitch black. The bike lights revealed a small grove.
Little Tang hadn’t been here often and asked curiously, “Senior, what’s in there?”
Senior Song answered every question: “Lover’s Hill.”
Senior Zhang, ahead of them, slowed down to let them catch up: “Isn’t it spooky, not like a place for couples to date…”
Little Tang’s tone was mysterious: “A dark and windy night—”
Senior Song chuckled briefly, getting a slap on the back from Little Tang’s hand.
“You dare!”
