Bro, Don't Study Anymore - Chapter 15
7/14
Early in the morning, the lab equipment manager was organizing the experimental equipment needed for the training, preparing complete sets for the participants.
“Wait, I took out twenty-two sets yesterday, but there are two extra. Where did they go?”
The manager called over the student representative in charge and asked him to get a few people to help find the missing equipment.
“Teacher, are these the ones?” The representative looked around the lab and found a student power supply in one hand and a benchtop multimeter in the other.
The teacher checked the registration list on his phone and shook his head: “No, these are the ones they didn’t want, right?”
“Yes,” the representative placed the items at the back of the lab, “they brought their own equipment.”
“Have they all registered their own instruments?”
“Yes.”
Teacher: “Still, it’s not right. A complete set includes a student power supply, oscilloscope, benchtop multimeter, and DDS. Look, we are definitely missing some.”
The representative scratched his head, then walked to the front of the room and called out: “Does anyone have extra equipment? Please bring it to the back.”
“We’re missing two multimeters,” the teacher said after recounting.
Little Tang and Senior Song were watching the commotion when the representative pulled them in to help find the equipment.
“Maybe it’s tucked away in a corner?”
The representative laughed: “Last year, we stuffed that multimeter in that cabinet.”
Each team had three tables, a large drawer, and cabinets divided into smaller compartments for storage. The large compartments had doors, and the smaller ones were for dividers and could hold various items.
The teacher scolded with a smile: “Why did you hide it there? Hurry and check if it’s there.”
“Haha,” the representative laughed, “that equipment was too old and inconvenient, it took up space on the table.”
“Don’t just stand there, help find it.”
Little Tang wandered around the last two rows and spotted one. He told Senior Song: “Ge, over there.”
Senior Song went over and asked the students: “Do you need this multimeter?”
The student testing the board shook his head: “No.”
“Then we’ll take it back.”
The representative returned: “Hey, you actually found it! Good eye, junior.”
After gathering everything, they helped the teacher move the equipment to the storage room upstairs, with Senior Zhang following empty-handed.
Entering the room, they placed the unused equipment in its place. The teacher asked: “Do you need that cable?”
“Of course, Teacher Du, we need some power cables.”
They followed Teacher Du into his office, which was more of a storage room filled with shelves holding various instruments.
Senior Zhang looked around: “Hey, Teacher Du, you still have these cables?”
“…Those were bought for last year’s competition,” Teacher Du rummaged through a box, pulling out a bunch of banana plug to alligator clip cables, “someone count these. Two cables per team, count out for 20 teams.”
Representative: “Teacher Du, we need three cables.”
“Huh? Isn’t it just positive and ground?”
Senior Song: “We’re using dual power supplies.”
The representative pointed to Little Tang to count the cables while he counted the probes. Senior Song stood by, with Senior Zhang and their teammate, Senior Li, wandering around.
Senior Zhang picked up two terminal wires in front of the teacher: “Teacher Du, give me these two wires. I can really use them~”
“Hey, Xiao Zhang, you’re always the one not working and still trying to take my stuff.”
Senior Song laughed: “Sneaky.”
Senior Zhang displayed the wires to Senior Song, arguing: “Song, look, these are perfect for my board.”
The representative joined in: “I want one too, give me one.”
Senior Li noticed a high-speed ADC chip nearby and asked tentatively: “Teacher Du, can we use this chip?”
“No way, that chip is expensive. It’s accounted for, put it back,” Teacher Du kept an eye on them to ensure they completed their tasks.
On the way back, Senior Zhang proudly displayed the wires he had taken.
The representative teased: “You’re such a thief.”
Little Tang chimed in: “Exactly, exactly!”
Senior Zhang handed one wire to Little Tang without a word.
Little Tang accepted it with a smile: “Thank you, senior!”
The representative jokingly scolded: “Look at that face!”
