Can Alpha Also Be A Wife? - Chapter 26
Chapter 26 – Come Closer and Kiss Me
“Lin Ling…”
Lu Shihuai turned slightly, resting his head softly against the man’s knee, his voice heavy with longing as he whispered the name he had carried in his heart.
A hand slid gently through his hair, trailing down across his cheek, the cool fingertips brushing his jaw with a quiet kind of intimacy.
Though the touch was light, it left no room for doubt. Lu Shihuai instinctively tilted his face upward, his eyes searching for Lin Ling’s.
Seeing the intensity in that gaze, Lin Ling spoke in a low, teasing voice, “You really can’t stop clinging to me, can you?”
“…Yeah.”
There was no hesitation in Lu Shihuai’s answer.
His eyes shone with transparent emotion. “I missed you,” he said.
Lin Ling slowly pulled his hand away and studied Lu Shihuai quietly before saying:
“Then come here—and kiss me.”
Lu Shihuai sprang to his feet, the suddenness betraying his inner chaos. All his usual self-restraint vanished in an instant, like a dam breaking. He was like a boy in love for the first time—eager, a little unsteady, and totally undone by the person in front of him.
His gaze was fixed on Lin Ling’s lips, those lips pressed tightly together—and before he could stop himself, he was already leaning in, encircling Lin Ling with his arms.
Still, he paused, hesitating just inches away. “Can I… really?”
He kept his eyes lowered, not daring to meet Lin Ling’s, but the sound of his heartbeat thundered in his chest.
“You weren’t so shy before,” Lin Ling said with a hint of amusement, lifting the edge of his clothes to pull Lu Shihuai down into his lap.
“I’ll give you anything you want,” he added, voice low and smooth like velvet over ice, laced with danger and seduction.
As long as you never turn your back on me.
Lin Ling’s arms wrapped around his neck, pulling him close. His lips parted slightly, giving himself over without a trace of resistance.
The heat in Lu Shihuai’s chest surged.
He stopped holding back. One arm wrapped firmly around Lin Ling’s waist as he kissed him fully.
For a moment, Lin Ling’s body tensed, but he soon melted into it.
His eyes—now rimmed with red, faint like the glow of dusk—were delicate and stunning, like fragile silk falling across a snowfield.
The one who moments ago had been in control was now beneath him, caught.
But soon, Lu Shihuai’s grip softened. He pulled back slightly and pressed a gentle kiss against Lin Ling’s cheek. “I’m sorry.”
Then another kiss—this time at the corners of those teary eyes, soft and reverent.
Lin Ling’s lashes glistened faintly, damp with tears that weren’t quite sadness. Where Lu Shihuai kissed him, it tickled faintly, and for a second he looked lost, unsure—but he didn’t push him away.
Lu Shihuai recalled the first time he had seen Lin Ling’s eyes go red.
Back then, he’d thought: someone like this should belong to him alone—hidden away from the world, only to be teased and tormented until that icy face broke and revealed something more vulnerable.
He hadn’t understood that feeling then.
But now, he knew.
And it made him laugh bitterly at himself—what kind of twisted person was he?
If Lin Ling had rejected him forever, he probably would have lived his whole life in frustration. But Lin Ling didn’t shut the door. He opened it. Let him in. Gave him everything.
That kiss changed everything. Lu Shihuai no longer restrained himself. From now on, he would never let go. Not for a lifetime.
Sensing the strange shift in Lu Shihuai’s energy, Lin Ling frowned slightly and tugged gently on his hair, making him look up.
Wasn’t this what he wanted? A kiss?
Then, softly, “What are you thinking about?”
It didn’t matter what it was. Whatever Lu Shihuai needed—he’d give it.
In this cruel world, Lin Ling had no one else left.
His family abandoned him. His mentors turned their backs. Friends? Liars. Only Lu Shihuai stayed, always.
Lin Ling closed his eyes for a moment and pushed away the weight of the past. It didn’t matter anymore.
He asked again, his voice quiet, “Lu Shihuai, what do you really want?”
What Lin Ling didn’t know was just how tempting he looked—flushed, dazed, submissive without knowing it.
Lu Shihuai couldn’t even hear his voice clearly. Everything blurred, like sound underwater. All he saw were those lips moving—and it drove him mad.
He pressed his mouth to them once more.
Breaths became shallow. Their lips tangled together again and again, the kiss growing deeper, more desperate.
Hot breaths mixed in the cold, silent air of the ship. Every sound—the soft gasps, the wet friction—felt deafening in the quiet.
Lin Ling closed his eyes and let him. He didn’t respond, but didn’t resist either.
His arms hung limply around Lu Shihuai’s shoulders, but when the kiss intensified, his fingers curled slightly in the fabric of his clothes. A few soft sounds escaped his throat—fragile and uncontrollable.
He’s gotten much better at this, Lin Ling thought to himself vaguely.
His thoughts drifted back to the mission—specifically, the moment he’d regained his memory.
Lu Shihuai had been directing him as they tracked Al’s trail.
“He’s operating under legal protection. We can’t attack directly or risk diplomatic backlash,” Lu had said calmly. “I’ll control the AI weapons. You sneak in and recover the ice crystals.”
Lin Ling hadn’t doubted him for a second.
Even without memories, his instincts remained sharp. His body remembered the training, the pain, the endless trials he’d survived.
And now, thinking back, Lu Shihuai’s heart tightened.
How dare they do that to him?
He was precious. He belonged to Lu Shihuai. And those people had treated him like disposable waste.
If they weren’t already dust, he’d make sure they lived in hell.
The sudden anger didn’t go unnoticed.
Lin Fansheng turned to him and asked, “What’s wrong?”
Lu Shihuai brushed it off.
“You could pick a fight with Al or something. Just don’t kill him.”
Lin Fansheng blinked in surprise. “You think he deserves it?”
Lu Shihuai usually didn’t go after people unprovoked.
“He’s temperamental. I fought him once and hit him hard. He cursed at me in front of everyone.”
His tone was bitter. Then he looked at Lin Fansheng, as if waiting for some response.
To Lin Fansheng’s surprise… that expression almost looked like he wanted to be comforted.
Was this Lu Shihuai’s way of seeking attention?
Apparently so. He clearly didn’t care about being scolded by Al—he just wanted Lin Fansheng to care.
After analyzing the signs, Lin Fansheng calmly nodded.
Absolutely—it made sense.
Being an Alpha meant nothing in this moment. Anyone who wants to be loved, especially by someone they care for, would crave emotional attention.
Lin Fansheng didn’t find it strange at all. In fact, he didn’t want to disappoint Lu Shihuai.
“Alright. I’ll beat him up for you.”
Lu Shihuai smiled slightly. “I knew you’d understand me best, Asheng.”
Just then, red indicators began to flash on the screen. Lu Shihuai pulled out a silver orb.
Lin Fansheng instantly recognized it. “From Jiang Shuran?”
“Yeah. It’s the controller. Want to see it?”
He’d already activated it. A glowing display emerged, flooded with complex code and operating data.
“It responds to mental energy. The stronger your mental power, the more control you gain—and faster too.”
Lu Shihuai fixed the orb into place inside the cockpit.
In moments, the starfield filled with units responding to his command.
Eyes closed, he sank into the command seat in silence.
Lin Fansheng had never used his mental abilities before. He didn’t even know how they worked.
But seeing Lu Shihuai like that made him curious.
What would it feel like to try?
The moment that thought surfaced, something within him stirred—an unseen force surged out of him, thin threads of energy linking to the orb.
“Stop—don’t do it!”
Too late.
Lu Shihuai recognized the mental signature instantly. His own powers leapt toward Lin Fansheng’s like a beast to its mate—gripping, unwilling to let go.
As their minds locked, Lu Shihuai slammed a switch. Restraints clamped around his limbs, holding him in the seat.
“Don’t come near me. Whatever happens—stay back!”
The sharp, cold scent of his pheromones filled the cabin like a blizzard.
But Lin Fansheng ignored him. He approached, expression unreadable, and grabbed Lu Shihuai’s collar.
“You didn’t take your suppressant?”
His voice was firm—stern for the first time.
Anyone familiar with him would know: he was furious.
Lu Shihuai stayed silent, only muttering, “Don’t come closer… I can’t control it.”
He turned his head, eyes shut tightly.
“…It’s not that you didn’t take it,” Lin Fansheng said slowly. “You couldn’t, could you?”
He remembered the day Fu Mingxi gave him the inhibitor.
Lu Shihuai wasn’t careless. He wasn’t reckless. He knew full well what this period meant. And yet… he’d pretended otherwise.
He tricked him.
“Tell me—how did you survive your last heat?” Lin Fansheng demanded.
Still no answer.
“What then—just endured it? Bit someone?”
The word hit a nerve. Lu Shihuai’s eyes flew open. “I didn’t go to an Omega!”
“Then who did you bite?” Lin Fansheng pressed. “A Beta? Or…”
“…An Alpha?”
Silence.
But Lu Shihuai’s energy gave it away—surging toward him uncontrollably at the last word.
Lin Fansheng smiled coldly, understanding everything.
So that was it.
“It was me, wasn’t it?” he said—and slowly began to unbutton his clothes.
