Can Alpha Also Be A Wife? - Chapter 29
Chapter 29: He Lied to Him…
Lin Fansheng’s evasive excuse wasn’t very convincing.
Because of the earlier accident, the mech had switched to autopilot, and its speed had naturally slowed.
The red dot on the radar—El’s tracker—that had once been close was now far away. Catching up would take time.
But Lu Shihuai only glanced at the screen, then calmly walked over and picked up the AI control core that had rolled into a corner. He reinstalled it on the floating platform.
The round metal orb spun slowly and steadily, silver-white lights reflecting off it to form a faint halo.
Lines of data continued scrolling across the small panel that projected from the orb.
After finishing, Lu Shihuai stood in front of Lin Fansheng, who had been sitting silently the whole time.
As an Alpha, Lu Shihuai’s tall and lean body blocked the overhead lights, casting a shadow that enveloped Lin Fansheng completely.
For some reason, Lin Fansheng suddenly felt a sense of pressure.
He looked up instinctively—and met a cold, expressionless face.
Under the scattered, icy light, Lu Shihuai’s features looked even sharper. His eyes were pitch black, emotionless and terrifyingly calm.
It was still the same ordinary face he wore with a disguise, but the aura it gave off was completely different.
Lin Fansheng froze in place.
Lu Shihuai had always seemed warm, patient, and tolerant. But now, it felt like he’d shed a layer of skin to reveal the truth beneath.
And strangely… this version of him felt familiar.
“What’s wrong?”
Not wanting the silence to drag on, Lin Fansheng was the first to speak.
Lu Shihuai didn’t answer. He just kept staring.
Lin Fansheng didn’t know what he was looking for—so he let him look.
Suddenly, Lu Shihuai let out a soft sigh. His intense aura seemed to retract. Then he crouched down beside Lin Fansheng, bringing his line of sight lower.
Looking up at him, Lu Shihuai asked in a quiet voice:
“Do you regret it?”
Regret kissing him?
Though he didn’t say it outright, Lin Fansheng instantly understood.
Lu Shihuai had always known his actions were shameful—enough to be called despicable.
He’d used his own life as leverage to push an amnesiac into doing something intimate.
And he knew Lin Fansheng had always been conflicted about it.
But Lu never said a word. He just watched him flounder in confusion while silently allowing Lu to invade his life, little by little.
There was probably no more despicable or underhanded suitor in the world than him.
But he couldn’t stop himself.
Lin Ling had taught him: “Use anything and everything. Do whatever it takes to achieve your goals.”
Everything he was came from Lin Ling’s teachings. So why would he change?
So he used Lin Fansheng’s amnesia.
Used his doubt.
Used his sympathy.
And now… he was using Lin Fansheng’s soft heart, his tendency to give in to gentleness but never force.
Lu Shihuai lowered his lashes, hiding the madness and obsession in his eyes.
Lin Fansheng reached out and ran his fingers through Lu’s hair. The soft strands lingered on his fingertips, and he subtly curled his fingers inward.
He said softly,
“What’s done is done. Isn’t it a bit late to talk about regret?”
Since Lu Shihuai had asked him directly, Lin Fansheng could no longer dodge the issue. He finally gave him the answer he wanted:
“Relax. I’m not the kind of irresponsible scumbag Alpha. Once I get my memories back, I’ll give you a proper answer.”
He stood up and extended his hand, wanting to pull Lu Shihuai to his feet.
Truthfully, he didn’t like seeing Lu Shihuai take such a humble posture in front of him.
Love and affection — those were beautiful things.
They shouldn’t be rooted in inferiority or flattery.
They should be equal.
Lu Shihuai’s love was too silent, too cautious, as if he didn’t dare show a shred of it.
Back then, Lin Ling had never realized Lu’s feelings — because Lu had hidden them too well. He never dared to speak, never dared to cross the line.
Lin Fansheng thought,
If I hadn’t lost my memory, we’d probably have remained superior and subordinate for life.
His outstretched palm met Lu’s warm one.
Lu Shihuai took his hand, stood up with his help, and curved his lips into a handsome smile.
Lin Fansheng smiled too.
“You scared me just now.”
“Did I?” Lu Shihuai raised a brow. “You used to scare me like that every day.”
“I—”
Lin Fansheng suddenly wobbled.
His body felt weak. His eyelids heavy. His mind blank and sluggish.
Overwhelmed by a wave of helplessness, he slumped directly into Lu Shihuai’s chest.
In a low voice, he murmured:
“Let me lean on you a bit. I’m dizzy…”
Lu Shihuai was startled.
He tightened his grip on Lin Fansheng’s hand and wrapped his other arm around him, adjusting their posture to make him more comfortable.
Afraid that any movement would worsen the dizziness, Lu Shihuai stayed completely still while he checked Lin’s condition.
After a moment, he exhaled in relief.
Mental energy exhaustion.
Looks like Lin Fansheng had overdrawn his spiritual power while helping him earlier.
Now that he knew the cause, Lu Shihuai immediately channeled a portion of his own spiritual energy into Lin’s spiritual sea.
After years of fusion, their spiritual powers had become complementary. Lin’s sea accepted the blue energy readily, and it quickly transformed into a golden hue better suited for him.
Deep within the spiritual sea, some damaged areas were slowly mending.
Lin Fansheng felt like he was dreaming.
In the dream, he was crippled and clothed in rags, wandering the most chaotic streets.
He dreamed of being dragged into a lab.
Dreamed of someone stabbing him in the back.
But he also dreamed of a pristine piece of candy handed to him in his worst moments…
Dreamed of someone storming the lab to rescue him…
Dreamed of someone willing to risk death for him.
The images were fragmented and chaotic.
He couldn’t make out who was who.
He wanted to chase them. To find answers.
But darkness swallowed the sweet and painful dream whole.
…
“Lu Shihuai…”
A whisper soft as a mosquito’s buzz stirred Lu Shihuai from his thoughts.
“Ah Sheng? How are you feeling? Does anything still hurt?”
Lin Fansheng woke up slowly.
As he recalled the last moments before fainting, he suddenly grabbed Lu Shihuai’s collar and coldly commanded:
“Lu Shihuai, kiss me.”
Lu Shihuai didn’t notice the sudden change in his tone.
Those last two words—”kiss me”—were enough to make him ignore everything else that was off.
Their lips touched again. Lu Shihuai closed his eyes, kissing him with reverence—like he was worshipping a god.
His kisses were soft and careful, gradually deepening as he pried open Lin Fansheng’s lips.
The moment their tongues touched, Lu Shihuai paused.
Something… felt different.
He pulled away abruptly, breathing unsteadily.
“Why did you ask me to kiss you?”
Lin Fansheng gave him a look of dissatisfaction.
Then, without answering, he grabbed Lu again and resumed the kiss.
Amidst their most intimate moment, a low voice murmured:
“Everything you want… I’ll give you.”
Those words exploded in Lu Shihuai’s mind like fireworks.
His restraint snapped.
The Alpha’s natural aggressiveness surged to the surface.
He invaded, entangled, devoured.
The air grew thick with tension. His hands slipped under Lin’s clothes, roaming freely.
With no spiritual outbursts to interfere, Lin Fansheng’s clothes were still intact—except for a flash of snow-white skin at his waist, tantalizing and tempting.
Lu Shihuai kissed him like a man possessed—like he was trying to make up for years of unspoken love.
His passion was searing, unstoppable.
His icy-snow pheromones wrapped around Lin Fansheng, successfully drawing out Lin’s own.
The sweet scent of gardenias fused with the cold of snow. Intertwined, blending, transforming—until the sweetness was laced with a faint, snowy undertone. Subtle. Elusive. All the more intoxicating.
Lu Shihuai realized he couldn’t go further.
Reluctantly, he pulled away and rested his forehead against Lin’s, eyes burning with sincerity and joy.
“Ah Sheng… I’m so happy.”
Lin Fansheng still couldn’t fully support himself. Gasping for breath, he gripped Lu’s arm for balance.
Then he looked him in the eye, his gaze chillingly calm.
“Drop the act. You already know who I am.”
“What, you can confess to him, but don’t want to kiss me?”
His tone was completely different now—no longer warm, but cold.
Lu Shihuai’s face froze.
Then he dropped the smile and the shyness in his eyes.
Suddenly, he dropped to one knee, eyes downcast, and said in a subdued voice:
“…Lin Ling.”
His face turned pale. He pressed his lips shut, not daring to speak another word.
Just kissing Lin Ling had already taken everything he had.
Lin Ling had pulled him out of darkness, personally taught him everything.
To Lu, Lin Ling was the sun and the moon—his everything.
From the moment he dared to dream of possessing that light… he’d become a despicable, shameless insect.
Call it betrayal. He wouldn’t deny it.
And no one knew Lin Ling’s personality better than him.
Maybe this time, Lin would come to truly hate him.
Or… maybe, just maybe… the result would be different.
Lu Shihuai quieted his thoughts and stopped speculating.
Lin Ling’s body hadn’t fully recovered. When Lu knelt down, it made him wobble slightly.
He took a few steps back, hiding the weakness before Lu noticed, then said coldly:
“Stand up. Did I tell you to kneel?”
His voice was cold, brooking no argument.
Lu Shihuai didn’t hesitate. He stood immediately, like it was muscle memory.
Lin Ling noticed the mech interface had returned.
He quietly leaned back against Lu Shihuai for support.
A long, pale hand reached out and grasped Lu’s neck—feeling the pulse of bl00d beneath his fingers.
Lin Ling smiled faintly.
This man’s life… was in his hands.
Just a twitch of his fingers—
Lin Ling’s eyes were rimmed with red. His lips were still flushed from being kissed.
He said softly:
“I permit you to love me.”
“I not only permit it… I permit you to kiss me, to hold me, and—”
His lips parted to utter the most tempting words:
“To sleep with me.”
Lu Shihuai’s Adam’s apple bobbed. His gaze burned.
Lin Ling withdrew his hand, satisfied with his reaction.
So this… was love.
Just a few words could completely control someone’s emotions.
He’d never realized before—
Love was… addictive.
So exquisite.
What a pity… he had never been truly loved.
Suddenly, Lin Ling’s gaze turned cold.
He seemed to remember something.
Feeling almost fully recovered, he straightened and asked:
“What were you trying to say before I fainted?”
Lu Shihuai’s lips had moved then—but not clearly. Lin hadn’t figured it out.
“…I wanted to tell you to get out of here. Fast.”
Lin Ling narrowed his eyes.
“That’s it?”
“Mhm.”
Lin Ling studied Lu Shihuai closely.
The Alpha still looked at him with passionate eyes—impossible to read.
Lin Ling hated being lied to.
But if it was Lu Shihuai… maybe, just maybe, he could forgive it.
This man was different.
So Lin Ling pretended he hadn’t noticed anything.
He snatched the mech controls back.
The speed surged.
He said,
“Let’s go catch El first.”
Behind him, Lu Shihuai forced himself to look away from Lin Ling’s figure—unable to peel his eyes off him.
He had lied to him… again.
