Can Alpha Also Be A Wife? - Chapter 8
Chapter 8 He Is Lin Ling…..
Lin Fansheng finished changing clothes and stepped out. From across the room, he spotted someone sitting on the sofa, busy replying to messages.
Lu Shihuai wore a plain white T-shirt and casual pants, his long legs crossed neatly, his presence cool and refined, like a fresh graduate just stepping into the world.
Suddenly, Lin Fansheng understood.
So this is exactly the kind of look Lu Shihuai prefers!
It was a bit unreasonable for someone to want to dress younger yet hide behind him as a shield.
If he wanted to wear it, he should just say so—Lin Fansheng wouldn’t make fun of him.
These thoughts swirled inside Lin Fansheng’s mind, but his face betrayed nothing as he stood right in front of Lu Shihuai.
“Lu Shihuai, I’m changed,” he announced, hoping to show off his outfit.
Hearing this, Lu Shihuai turned off his device and looked up. A strange light flickered in his eyes before he suddenly reached out and pulled Lin Fansheng toward him.
Lin Fansheng was completely caught off guard—he found himself sitting on Lu Shihuai’s lap!
He glared down at him, half-annoyed, “What do you think you’re doing?!”
Their faces were dangerously close—any sudden move and they might accidentally break their personal boundaries.
What nerve!
Lu Shihuai held Lin Fansheng’s waist, feeling the softness, and couldn’t help but pinch it lightly. He noticed Lin Fansheng stiffen and said seriously, “Get used to this in advance.”
He watched the flush spreading across Lin Fansheng’s cheeks and swallowed, “Soon, I’ll take you somewhere where you’ll play the role of my Omega partner.”
Lin Fansheng blinked in surprise, all flirtatiousness drained away.
“Why do I have to play Omega?” he protested.
He didn’t have anything against being an Omega, but acting shy and soft in front of his Alpha, using that kind of voice—he really couldn’t do it.
“Don’t stereotype,” Lu Shihuai replied, releasing him. “You must’ve been influenced by that drama you watched yesterday.”
The previous afternoon, Lin Fansheng had nothing to do and ended up binge-watching a few episodes of a clichéd AO drama at Lu Shihuai’s insistence.
Lu Shihuai wasn’t sure what Lin Fansheng had made of it.
He’d simply pictured the character he wanted Lin Fansheng to portray based on that show.
Lin Fansheng had deliberately sat far away from him, trying to avoid close contact, but Lu Shihuai sighed and said, “Come here.”
Lin Fansheng stayed put.
Lu Shihuai softened his tone: “Sorry, I should have told you sooner. Will you forgive me?”
Lin Fansheng snorted but didn’t move.
Forgiving him for making him play Omega? No way.
Understanding his hesitation, Lu Shihuai switched tactics, “That Omega from the drama is just a fictional trope. Not all Omegas are like that. Don’t you want to watch a few more shows?”
“Really no need?” Lin Fansheng’s eyes were doubtful.
“Really,” Lu Shihuai nodded and moved closer.
Seeing Lin Fansheng didn’t resist, he sat down beside him.
“Just be yourself. Leave everything else to me.”
“Okay,” Lin Fansheng gave in, as long as it wasn’t that kind of role.
He reached out thoughtfully. “As compensation for scaring me and for your performance, you have to promise never to leave or run away!”
Lu Shihuai handed him the contactor.
Lin Fansheng blinked, expecting some kind of solemn vow, but instead he just gave a high-five.
“All of me is in your hands now.”
“From now on, anyone I contact will be screened by you. Do you believe I won’t run this time?”
“Believe, believe!” Lin Fansheng had no other choice.
Lu Shihuai’s reassurances were oddly comforting.
“This belongs to you,” Lin Fansheng handed over the bracelet.
Lu Shihuai didn’t respond but said, “I’ll take it back when you find your family.”
Lin Fansheng hesitated. “What if there are military secrets?”
He’d already learned through Xingwang that Lu Shihuai was no ordinary person—once a top general handpicked by Marshal Lin Ling, battle-hardened and undefeated.
The man earned the title “Imperial Blade” after years of crushing enemies, and the emperor himself had awarded him the highest honor—a silver wing badge.
Giving him such a contactor? Lin Fansheng feared he might be dragged into a military tribunal next.
Lu Shihuai reassured him calmly, “Don’t worry. I’m suspended, so nothing will happen.”
Lin Fansheng thought it over.
Traveling from Hillier to Imperial usually took half a month by normal starship and three days by space transition.
If Lu Shihuai’s family was truly in the capital, nothing major would occur in that short time…
Still, just to be safe, Lin Fansheng asked, “How long have you been suspended?”
“Not sure. I didn’t really pay attention,” Lu Shihuai shrugged.
Lin Fansheng was baffled—how could a major general be so laid-back?
“Relax. Nothing will happen.”
After scrutinizing him a few more times, Lin Fansheng put the bracelet on Lu Shihuai’s wrist.
It fit perfectly.
He looked at his own bracelet and thought about giving his to Lu Shihuai.
“Well, take mine.”
Lu Shihuai smiled, tracing the engraved numbers, clearly pleased.
…
“Lu Shihuai, can you stop dragging me into your crazy plans?”
In the bright living room, Fu Mingxi—an Alpha wearing silver-rimmed glasses—pounded the table and scolded the calm man sipping tea.
“You come here secretly to solve a problem, and you bring someone without ID?”
He was furious, “What if he’s an alien spy? Have you considered the consequences?”
Lu Shihuai’s tone was cool: “Fu Mingxi, I guarantee he’s not an alien and has nothing to do with them.”
“What proof do you have?”
“He is Lin Ling.”
Fu Mingxi was annoyed, “You’ve been a loyal dog to Lin Ling for ages. Once the master is gone, you’re already obsessed with this lookalike?”
They grew up together; Fu Mingxi knew Lu Shihuai’s every thought.
When Lu Shihuai brought Lin Fansheng along, Fu Mingxi noticed the resemblance but wasn’t convinced.
“He’s Lin Ling, deal with it.”
“What evidence?”
“None.”
“Fine, I’ll just pretend he’s not an alien.”
Fu Mingxi sat down, removing his glasses to reveal striking blue eyes.
“I helped you fake hospital records, forged IDs, fixed your subspace channel, even recharged your escape device.”
“And by the way, I bought this place with your new identity. You owe me ten million—don’t forget to pay up.”
Lu Shihuai responded flatly, “Uh-huh.”
“Did you get the invitation?”
“Got it.” Fu Mingxi summoned two invitations with a flick of his ring. “Who are you taking?”
“Lin Fansheng.”
Fu Mingxi almost choked. “You’re really hopeless!”
He gave up trying to talk sense into Lu Shihuai. Mention Lin Ling, and Lu Shihuai became as stubborn as a mule—no force could sway him.
Fu Mingxi sipped water to calm down.
“Alright, what’s going on with Hillier? Why are you here?”
Fu Mingxi regretted losing his vacation.
He planned to tour the stars with his new wife, but Lu Shihuai had called them to Hillier Star for backup.
Still, they had to stay undercover.
The empire’s top internet talent had just compromised his own security—unbelievable.
“Lin Ling returned from a foreign race and asked me to come respond. She accidentally leaked some information, drawing enemies,” Lu Shihuai explained briefly.
Though he’d arrived alone, Lu Shihuai brought the best mecha starship and auxiliary combat systems.
Fu Mingxi asked, “Then why are you so badly injured?”
He’d seen the medical report when deleting records.
“Because Lin Ling wasn’t there when I arrived.”
Lu Shihuai frowned, recalling what happened.
The pursuers should’ve been handled by Lin Ling too, but at the coordinates, there was only wreckage of an alien warship.
This wasn’t part of the plan.
Panicked, he searched for Lin Ling’s traces among the debris and only found some mecha fragments.
No word from Lin Ling, and the enemies kept chasing.
Lu Shihuai fought alone until only two pursuers remained. Exhausted, he couldn’t manage the combat system and ordered self-destruction.
He didn’t know if the order succeeded but ejected and lost consciousness.
Two possibilities: the order went through and he landed safely near Hillier Star, likely where Lin Ling was, or the order failed and he was caught or killed.
Luckily, it was the first case, and Lin Fansheng saved him.
Fu Mingxi asked, “So you think he is Lin Ling?”
Lu Shihuai looked up, “No, he isn’t.”
