Clap - 3
As if hearing the sound for the first time, the man raised his eyebrows and asked. Jaemin scratched his chin. His combativeness that had risen to the top of his head faded away.
“I came for a janitor part-time job interview.”
“Ah, cleaning. Right.”
The man seemed to remember now and nodded. Then, he sat down on the sofa opposite Jaemin. Jaemin awkwardly sat down again, following his awkward movements.
“…”
“…”
There was a moment of silence. The man didn’t ask anything. He just stared at Jaemin’s face intently. Jaemin’s eyes rolled awkwardly. He wondered if the interview was being conducted based on physiognomy. He had a stupid thought.
“Are you an Omega?”
It was the man’s first question.
“No. I’m a Beta.”
Jaemin shook his hands to deny it. He was used to receiving suspicion. The man was thin and delicate. One of the colleagues with a face that was hard to remember had told Jaemin to cry with the eyes he wanted to cry with.
The man with narrow eyes stared intently at Jaemin. He seemed to be doubting if he was really a Beta.
It was understandable. Omegas were weak and not physically strong. They weren’t welcomed in labor-intensive jobs, unlike jobs that required brainpower.
“Are you a doctor, sir?”
This time, Jaemin asked. The man nodded and tapped the name embroidered on his gown. It read ‘Director Choi Ihyun’ in neat handwriting.
“Oh, I didn’t introduce myself. I’m Ihyun Choi. Nice to meet you.”
“I’m Jaemin Park.”
Jaemin repeated Ihyun’s name. He looked like he was in his early thirties, but he was a director. Was he born with a silver spoon? Jaemin clicked his dry tongue. He envied him for being smart and wealthy.
Ihyun repeated Jaemin’s name, moving his Adam’s apple.
“Jaemin, I see.”
“Yes. I’m Jaemin Park.”
“Okay, Mr. Jaemin. Can I ask you one more question?”
“Sure.”
Jaemin nodded vigorously. It was an interview to ask questions. He was fine with answering anything within his limited knowledge.
“Are you really a Beta?”
However, Ihyun’s question was a bit ambiguous. Of course, it had nothing to do with cleaning.
“Yes? …Yes.”
“Not an Omega?”
“Yes. Thankfully.”
Jaemin shrugged his shoulders. Ihyun slowly licked his lower lip. His red tongue moved like a snake.
“What? Not an Omega?”
“Omegas require a lot of medical expenses and expensive suppressants.”
“I see.”
Ihyun smiled warmly. His smile was refreshing to look at. But why did Jaemin feel a chill down his spine? He awkwardly smiled along.
“Shall we set the hourly wage at 20,000 won?”
Jaemin almost jumped in his seat at Ihyun’s words. He was surprised.
“Twenty thousand won?”
