- Chapter 13 - Bai Yi, Bei Yin's Omega Bestie
Chen Chen drove toward the executive’s residence, explaining, “She won’t allow you to activate the substitute. She insisted I convey that only she herself can hold you—no dolls either.”
Unbelievable. This possessive obsession was truly next level.
Bei Yin burst into laughter, ruffling the substitute’s head. “Then let Ruanruan No. 2 keep you company, sis.”
Chen Chen’s hand trembled, and a bold speculation rose in his mind—when these two were alone, did they also call each other “sis” and pat heads like this?!
…
In District A8, a lavishly designed manor blazed with light.
Over a hundred fully armed guards stood at the entrance. Upon spotting Bei Yin in the back seat, they didn’t even bother checking her invitation—just bowed slightly and let her through immediately.
After driving for about ten minutes past the gates, they arrived at an area packed with hover cars, spacecraft, and other vehicles.
Chen Chen opened the car door for Bei Yin. “I’ll wait here. Have a wonderful evening.”
“Thank you.”
Only after Bei Yin had walked away did Chen Chen dare steal a glance—before promptly slapping himself twice.
The birthday ball was set to begin at 8 PM, but by a little past 7, many guests had already arrived.
Dozens of stone steps outside the banquet hall teemed with Alphas escorting their Omega partners, along with a fair number of high-status betas.
When a stunning Omega carrying a lace fan and lifting her skirt caught their peripheral vision, all—whether A, O, or B—halted in their tracks.
Some eyes burned with instinctive possessiveness, others clenched teeth in envy, while many simply stared in awe. Every gaze trailed her as she moved.
Bei Yin ignored them all, ascending the steps at her own pace.
Inside the opulent banquet hall, District 6’s elite mingled in full force.
Dressed in extravagant formalwear, they clutched wine glasses, navigating the decadent social scene with practiced ease.
A symphony played lighthearted melodies as tuxedo-clad robots weaved through the crowd with trays of drinks.
The moment the Omega appeared at the entrance, every eye in the room turned toward her.
Tonight, she wasn’t wearing her gold-rimmed glasses. Standing there with effortless grace, she surveyed the room like a blue rose exuding intoxicating fragrance.
Every gesture, every smile, radiated bewitching allure.
Spotting someone on the second floor, Bei Yin waved her lace fan with a smile.
Then, in her stiletto heels, she made her way toward the marble staircase.
Wherever she went, Alphas and betas with ulterior motives followed.
Some restrained themselves, bending slightly with one hand behind their back while extending the other in invitation.
Others reached outright for her hand, resting at her side.
Bei Yin wrapped one arm around her waist and flicked open her fan to shield half her face. “I already have a dance partner. Please step aside.”
Yet the crowd only pressed closer—female Alphas, male Alphas, female betas, male betas… She even spotted a few petite Omegas.
Timid yet daring, they whispered, “Give us a chance, sis…”
Fortunately, even the most shameless attendees knew better than to release pheromones in such a formal setting.
The District 6 Executive, Bei Yin’s Omega bestie—and her mentor—Bai Yi, had seen enough. He descended and pulled her up to the VIP seating on the second floor.
His exquisitely handsome face wore its usual playful grin, never one for seriousness.
“This crowd is terrifying. You owe me big for rescuing you from the wolves.”
Bei Yin smoothed her disheveled hair, grumbling, “Who exactly am I suffering through this for?”
The Bai family had held the Executive Chief position for three consecutive terms.
By Bai Yi’s generation, fate had made him the family’s only Omega.
Using all his connections, Bai’s father pushed his son into the role, making him the sole Omega Executive Chief across all 30 districts.
Though people had looked down on Bai Yi before, they at least maintained superficial respect out of deference to his father.
But after Bai’s father passed away from illness last year, the family’s influence crumbled overnight. Bai Yi became a powerless figurehead, even low-ranking officers daring to walk all over him.
Moreover, the balance of power between the two co-administrators had tilted completely in Shen Yasi’s favor.
To put it bluntly, District 6 was now entirely under Shen Yasi’s control.
Had Bei Yin not announced her attendance at this ball in advance, likely no one would have bothered showing up for Executive Chief Bai’s birthday banquet.
Bai Yi handed her a fruit wine, grinning cheekily. “Thanks for taking the hit, sis. I owe you one.”
Glancing around, he asked curiously, “Heard you found an Alpha these past couple days. Where are they?”
“On the way.”
Bai Yi scoffed. “Letting a lone sheep walk into this wolf den? How irresponsible.”
“She had urgent business. Besides, your banquet hasn’t started yet—no one will approach me prematurely.”
True enough, no one was being impolite yet. Bai Yi peered downstairs.
But whether paired or not, guests had already staked out strategic positions, waiting for 8 p.m. to pounce on unattended Omegas.
“What kind of Alpha has you guarding details so tightly? Which district are they from? Top five?”
Bei Yin shrugged. “No idea.”
Bai Yi nearly choked on his drink. “You’re falling for someone you know nothing about? What if they lure you to another district for forced bonding and breeding?”
When she just sipped her wine silently, he launched into frantic admonishments.
“Of all things to catch, why’d it have to be lovesickness? Outsiders could be dangerous! Our district has good options too—like that—”
Following his gesture, Bei Yin saw a red-gowned Alpha with gentle demeanor who raised her wineglass elegantly in greeting.
“District 6’s wealthiest heiress, famously disciplined—never takes other Omegas while committed. I overheard some Omegas saying she’s admired you for ages, came specifically for you.”
Bei Yin responded flatly, “Hmm.”
“Not into the gentle type?” He pointed elsewhere. “That Alpha officer then—eight-pack abs, younger wolf type, total beast.”
Bei Yin: “Hmm.”
“Are you even listening?”
“Nope. They’re fine, just not my taste.” Changing the subject, she asked, “How many Executive Chiefs and Commanders from other districts are attending tonight?”
“Probably none. The elite circles are buzzing—the youngest son of District 1’s Chief is having his eighteenth birthday. Anyone with sense would be there currying favor.”
Pausing, Bai Yi added tonelessly, “Shen Yasi went too.”
Bei Yin advised, “Expect more visitors tomorrow. Be ready to receive them properly.”
“Absolutely.” Bai Yi grinned cheekily as he massaged her shoulders. “Little bro owes all his current glory to Sister Bei’s protection. Eternal gratitude, eternal gratitude.”
“Enough joking, let’s get to business.” Bei Yin set down her wine glass. “Tomorrow, gather them privately and tell them I’m willing to teach the doctors from their districts the human resurrection technique.”
Bai Yi froze, then heard her add: “But make it seem vague—like you begged me for ages to secure this rare opportunity for them.”
He wasn’t stupid—he immediately understood. Sister Bei was paving his way.
With her human resurrection technique, she’d secure him powerful backers across multiple districts.
“Sister Bei… my dear sister!!”
Bei Yin cut straight to the point: “Brother Yi, I’ll be leaving District 6 after teaching the technique.”
Before leaving, she had to arrange some trump cards for Bai Yi, so he wouldn’t be constantly oppressed and bullied by Shen Yasi.
Bai Yi nodded gratefully. “Yeah, I figured. Honestly, you could’ve left long ago if not for me. But where are you planning to go?”
“District 1.” This had always been Bei Yin’s goal.
The technology there was decades ahead of District 6.
She wanted to use advanced equipment to create artificial Omega bodies, achieving Omega resurrection—and eventually Alpha resurrection too.
Though she’d been supervising her mother’s medication these past days with good results,
the improvement wouldn’t last forever. Having the research done early would give her peace of mind.
Bai Yi sighed. “If not for family obligations keeping me here, I’d go with you.”
“The training will take months—let’s not get ahead of ourselves. I’ve paved the way for you. If Shen Yasi steals your credit, see how I’ll beat you to death!” Bei Yin threatened, waving her fan.
“Hey… must you always assume I’m so useless?” Bai Yi rolled his eyes.
Bei Yin abruptly changed topics: “There’s an additional condition—each participant pays 10 million star credits, no upper limit. Guaranteed mastery.”
Bai Yi made a strange face. “Are you that desperate for money? If you need funds, just ask your brother. You know I’ve got nothing but money.”
Bei Yin fluttered her lace fan leisurely, raising an eyebrow with a smile. “Not desperate—just need to earn money to support my Alpha.”
Bai Yi: “…”
Bai Yi: “I’ve always known you were a particularly… unique Omega.”
“Right? I think so too.” Bei Yin replied, then turned her gaze toward five hostile-looking Omegas who had reached the stairway—clearly here to pick a fight.
