- Clingy! The Sickly but Beautiful and Strong Alpha Is a Loyal Puppy Who Needs Pampering
- Chapter 14 - The Stench of Jealousy
There were three female Omegas and two male Omegas, each dressed to the nines.
Judging by their complexion and features, they were relatively high-quality Omegas.
They stopped in front of the two, first casting a blatantly disdainful glance at Bai Yi before turning their mocking, jealousy-laden gazes toward Bei Yin.
“Oh? Why did you come to the party alone? Where’s that top-tier Alpha of yours?”
Bei Yin, with her photographic memory, immediately matched the five faces before her to the Omegas who had flirted with Ruanruan at the bar.
Leaning back against the vintage chair, she crossed her slender legs gracefully beneath her dress. “Thanks for your concern. She’s on her way.”
Bai Yi waved a hand dismissively. “Ugh, the stench of desperation. This is my damn house—take your pheromones elsewhere if you’re gonna reek like that.”
A male Omega with lips darker than red wine sneered mercilessly. “An Omega with a temper like yours, dressed like that—no wonder no Alpha wants you at thirty!”
Unlike Bei Yin, who would rather remove her scent gland than settle for trash, Bai Yi dreamed of having her neck bitten.
But with her Alpha-like fashion sense and soldier’s temper, she was neither soft nor delicate—qualities that left her perpetually unwanted.
Regardless of the reasons, both women had been single for years, prompting bored gossips to dub them the “Galactic Lonely Hearts Club.”
While Bei Yin remained unshakably composed in any situation, Bai Yi never bothered with diplomacy when dealing with troublemakers.
Pointing at the male Omega, she snapped, “Say one more word, and I’ll show you what twisted Omega-on-Omega love looks like!”
The male Omega immediately crossed his arms over his chest, rolled his eyes, and fell silent.
“Bai Yi, stay out of this. Shut up.” A female Omega with a topknot smirked at Bei Yin. “You were so high and mighty the other day, claiming that Alpha as yours alone. And now she’s already dumped you? Pathetic.”
They didn’t know exactly what Bei Yin did—only that her beauty was legendary among the upper echelons of District 6.
Whenever she appeared, every Alpha’s attention shifted to her, leaving the others seething with envy.
Bei Yin shifted slightly, settling into a more comfortable, elegant pose.
Resting her elbow on the armrest, she tapped her temple lightly with a lace fan.
“Two corrections to your wording. First, drop the ‘already’—she was always mine. You never stood a chance, and neither of us would ever give you one.”
“Second, ‘dumped’ is inaccurate. We’re still very much together, thank you.”
What infuriated them most wasn’t Bai Yi’s direct insults—it was Bei Yin’s regal composure.
Seated like a queen, wearing the same bewitching smile that drove Alphas wild, she delivered words that brooked no argument.
Every taunt they threw at her dissolved into nothing, as ineffective as punching cotton.
The topknot-wearing Omega fumed. “You say she’s coming—why should I believe you? Bet me! If she doesn’t show, you sleep with two Alphas tonight!”
Bai Yi cut in instantly: “God, you’re an idiot.”
Bei Yin remained unruffled. “We’re not acquainted. The only connection between us is your jealousy. So, you’re hardly in a position to demand I play your self-degrading games.”
“Jealous of you? Please! And you’re the one degrading yourself!”
Bei Yin chuckled, “Don’t you ever look in the mirror? The jealousy in your eyes is so thick it’s polluting my vision.”
Another Omega with a mole near her mouth threatened, “Bei Yin, hand over her contact details and we can talk. Otherwise, don’t blame us for getting rough.”
Bei Yin pointed her lace fan downward. “Oh? You mean those five?”
She’d noticed the moment these five Omegas entered arm-in-arm with several Alphas—all captains and officers under Fu Jian’s command.
Whether they came for the birthday celebration or to stir trouble needed no explanation.
The mole-mouthed woman smirked. “These are all officers under General Fu of the Sixth Fleet—far beyond the reach of a civilian like you.”
Ignoring her, Bei Yin lowered her head to reply to a message.
Her little leopard was about to arrive, leaving no time for further chatter. She simply signaled for them to call the five men up.
Just as the group sent by Fu Jian prepared to make their move, Bei Yin spoke first.
“The army-wide routine inspection begins tomorrow. To thank you five for celebrating Bai Yi’s birthday, I’ll personally instruct the doctors to give you… thorough examinations.”
All soldiers underwent varying degrees of genetic modification to enhance attributes like strength, speed, or hearing.
One inspection checkpoint assessed whether these modifications were regressing, necessitating booster injections.
Since Bei Yin formulated all the serums, no one would know if something… extra had been added.
The five men paled at the implicit threat. “Bei Yin, are you trying to land yourself in prison?!”
“What do you mean? You’re all perfectly healthy.” Bei Yin fluttered her lace fan, smiling. “Everything requires evidence.”
Their expressions darkened further. Given her freakish medical skills, slipping in an undetectable additive would be child’s play.
The Omegas’ arrogance wavered, confusion dawning.
“Brothers… you—you know her? And what does she have to do with military inspections?”
Bai Yi scoffed. “You picked a fight without even knowing she’s the chief medical officer and advisor of the 6th District? What a bunch of idiots.”
The Omegas’ faces drained of color.
Having mingled with elites for years, they’d heard rumors of a genius doctor joining the 6th District years ago.
But to prevent kidnappings by extraterrestrials or interstellar fugitives, all publicly available information on researchers was falsified.
Real identities were classified from civilians, with even gossipers speaking only in hints.
To think it was Bei Yin all along!
Bai Yi suddenly realized, “Sh1t, I think I spilled classified info.”
“You’re fine.” Bei Yin eyed the panicking Omegas. “But those who heard it… well, under Medical Personnel Protection Laws, they’ll need to be detained at the base for interrogation.”
The Omegas swayed, legs buckling.
The Alphas’ faces turned thunderous. “Bei Yin, don’t push it! Bai Yi was the one who talked—why punish them?”
Rising, Bei Yin lifted her fan to tilt the mole-lipped Omega’s chin.
“My apologies, but I find your Omega far more excessive—not just coveting my Alpha, but demanding her contact details.”
Her smile remained serene as she met their gazes. “This is already my gentlest solution. If you want to avoid implication, I suggest pretending you never knew them.”
Bai Yi muttered, “…Why do your possessive instincts feel more Alpha than Omega?”
Bei Yin smiled gracefully, “After all, it was grown according to my preferences. Naturally, I don’t want others coveting it.”
The five officers suppressed their anger and weighed their options: “We don’t need you here. You may leave.”
The five Omegas’ legs went weak, their arrogant attitude completely gone as they pleaded in fear, “Bei Yin, we’re sorry, we…”
Bei Yin glanced at her wristband: “Yi, I don’t want to hear it.”
Bai Yi waved at the bodyguards: “Quickly, take them away!”
In the few minutes it took for Ruan Fei to walk from the parking area to the banquet hall, Bei Yin exchanged a few words with the five officers.
“You can take what I’m about to say as sowing discord. I don’t think following Fu Jian will bring you much benefit. At the very least, he can’t provide you with the highest grade genetic modification serums.”
“And with thousands of soldiers in the Sixth Fleet eyeing your positions like wolves eyeing meat, what do you think Fu Jian will do when more suitable candidates emerge for your positions?”
The officers’ eyes darkened: “What… what do you mean by that?”
Bei Yin patted Bai Yi’s shoulder and smiled.
“The Executive Director has no other merits except being extremely wealthy. Also, whatever serums you want, I can produce them.”
The five exchanged glances, lowering their heads in silence.
“The banquet lasts three days—no rush. Go enjoy yourselves now. Have a pleasant evening.”
As they left without another word, Bai Yi looked skeptical: “Will this work?”
Bei Yin shook her head: “I heard from Uncle Fan that they’ve been privately complaining about Fu Jian every day. Just offer them some benefits to get what we need.”
Bai Yi picked up two glasses of wine, clinking them together with a “ding”: “Then use Fu Jian to deal with Shen Yasi?”
Taking the glass, Bei Yin replied, “We can’t take down Shen Yasi—she’s too deeply entrenched. We can only dig up some leverage for you to hold onto, making your life a bit easier.”
Even if Shen Yasi knew he had leverage, with the protection of those high-ranking commanders, she couldn’t touch him.
Bai Yi felt that the best decision he’d ever made was transferring the then-unremarkable Bei Yin from the garbage district to Zone 6.
That small act of kindness she repaid a hundredfold, paving the way for the rest of his life.
“Sniff… Sister Bei, you’re like my own sister!”
Bei Yin glanced toward the entrance and used her fan to block his attempt to hug her. “My Alpha is here. Her jealousy knows no bounds—you’d better keep your distance.”
Bai Yi scoffed, looking down: “I’d like to see what kind of goddess could make you… holy sh1t!”
