- Chapter 16 - The Wicked Big Sister Who Likes to Tease Me
It took a while before Ruanruan finally lifted her head.
She remained kneeling on one knee in front of Bei Yin, but now with her arms crossed, resting on Bei Yin’s lap.
“Big sister, I’ve been so annoyed today.”
Bei Yin tucked the loose strands of hair behind Ruanruan’s ear and asked gently, “What’s wrong?”
“Ugh… so many Omegas surrounded me at the banquet. I couldn’t scold them loudly in public—that would’ve been too rude. It was so frustrating.”
The anxiety in her dark eyes was unmistakable, practically screaming, “Hurry up and get jealous!”
Bei Yin was a thousand percent confident and couldn’t muster even a hint of jealousy.
Still, she withdrew her hand from Ruanruan’s head, turned her face away, and put on the sulky expression the other woman wanted to see.
“Hmph, don’t talk to me right now.”
From the corner of her eye, she saw the usually cold and sharp face break into a satisfied smile. “Big sister, don’t be jealous. I didn’t even glance at them—all I could think about was rushing to see you.”
Bei Yin continued feeding her need for reassurance: “Hmph, I don’t believe you.”
Her hand was lifted by the Alpha, who pressed a reverent kiss to her palm, warm breath mingling with faint traces of cool pheromones.
“It’s true. Ruanruan is as loyal as a big puppy.”
Feeling she’d teased enough, Bei Yin switched to positive reinforcement.
“Fine, I’ll reluctantly believe you. I want a love that lasts a lifetime—just the two of us. If you dare mark another Omega, we’re done for good.”
Cupping Ruanruan’s face, she planted a firm kiss on her forehead. “Do you know what this is?”
“A kiss?”
“No, this is my own special mark—just like how an Alpha marks an Omega.” Bei Yin fought obsession with obsession. “Big sister wants to claim you, to make you mine.”
The amusement in Ruanruan’s dark eyes instantly gave way to suppressed possessiveness. “Then can I claim big sister too?”
“How would you do that?”
The Alpha tilted her head innocently, but a faint trace of madness flickered in her gaze.
“I’d build a castle covered in blue roses and lock my beautiful big sister inside. The gates would stay shut—only I could see her.”
She lost herself in the fantasy. “It’d be even better if big sister got sick. That way, I could take care of everything for you—food, clothes, everything. Slowly, you’d grow completely dependent on me, unable to leave.”
Bei Yin only smiled without responding. She knew there was more.
The Alpha lowered her eyes. “But… big sister wouldn’t like being a caged bird, so Ruanruan won’t do it.”
Bei Yin burst into laughter, squeezing Ruanruan’s cheeks. “You’re just too adorable…” This insecure, sensitive little yandere.
Ruanruan’s eyes curved into crescents. “If I’m adorable, will you like me forever?”
Without a hint of impatience, Bei Yin repeated, “Not just because you’re adorable. Even if you weren’t, I’d still love you so much.”
“Hehe~ Then can big sister upgrade her ‘ordinary’ affection for me?”
Flicking open her lace fan, Bei Yin deliberately played hard to get. “Good things come in pairs. Upgrades and official status go together.”
“You already like me but still put on an act—wicked big sister, making me anxious on purpose.”
The Alpha wrapped her arms around Bei Yin’s legs and the hem of her dress, muttering under her breath, too soft to be heard clearly.
Bei Yin hid her face behind the fan, shoulders shaking with laughter. Teasing her really was a daily dose of joy.
From the moment Ruan Fei appeared until now, Bai Yi had been slumped on the couch in frustration.
He’d wanted to greet Bei Yin’s Alpha, but three times he raised his hand to speak—only to be interrupted by their interactions.
He had never seen such a docile Alpha before—no need for much effort, they followed like a balloon on a string, incredibly easy to handle.
After waiting a while, as the banquet was about to begin, he personally went to fetch the two who were still in the room, unsure what they were doing.
When he reached the door, through the slightly ajar gap, he clearly saw the Alpha kneeling on one knee before his Bei-jie, tilting their face up with a gaze full of loyalty and devotion.
Bai Yi decisively turned away, reminded once again of how his glands were like a broken faucet—if he wasn’t careful, his pheromones would spill everywhere.
Add to that the complete chaos of his heat cycles, occurring at least twice a month, and his mood soured even further.
“We promised to stay single together, but now I’m the only one left—a lonely, unwanted stray.”
His words dripped with resentment, as if he’d gladly drag an Alpha off the street just to bite his neck.
As the orchestra struck up a dance tune, the 30th birthday banquet of Executive Bai officially began.
Following the usual protocol, the host should have taken the stage to deliver a formal welcome speech to the distinguished guests.
But since Executive Bai commanded neither respect nor favor—and since none of the guests were here for him anyway—Bai Yi, fully aware of his standing, skipped it altogether.
Most couldn’t even be bothered to feign congratulations, though a handful had come with genuine intentions.
Jiang An, the wealthiest magnate from District 6, was one of them.
Seated across from Bai Yi on the sofa, she offered a gentle smile and a few words of blessing before signaling her bodyguard to present the prepared gift.
Bai Yi thanked her perfunctorily, already knowing exactly why she had approached him. “The Alpha only appeared recently. I don’t know the specifics.”
Jiang An smiled warmly. “Do you know when they got together?”
“I don’t,” Bai Yi replied.
“Then when did they meet?”
“I don’t know that either.”
A flicker of confusion crossed Jiang An’s face. “But you’re Yinyin’s closest friend—even more so than Lin Jiaojiao. There are things Lin doesn’t know that Yinyin would tell you.”
So how, Bai Yi wondered with a frown, did Jiang An come to know such deeply private matters?
His gaze instinctively shifted toward the two bodyguards standing nearby.
Jiang An cut in smoothly, “It wasn’t anyone around you.”
A spark of anger flared in Bai Yi’s chest, though he kept his voice steady for the occasion.
“Ms. Jiang, with all due respect, Bei-jie doesn’t like you. No matter how many people you plant around her, it won’t make a difference. And frankly, your habit of spying on her private life is downright despicable and perverse!”
Truly, you can’t judge someone just by their reputation—you have to interact with them to see what they’re really like.
Even after being insulted, Jiang An remained unruffled, merely letting out a soft, enigmatic chuckle.
“That Alpha by Yinyin’s side… is the same as me. We’re cut from the same cloth. I recognized it at a glance.”
Bai Yi clenched his teeth. “What, you couldn’t have her, so now you’re trying to drive a wedge between them?”
“Just stating facts,” Jiang An replied mildly. “Besides, they’re only dance partners—not yet together. That means I still have a chance.”
Bai Yi scoffed. “I’m about to start cursing, Ms. Jiang. I doubt you’d want to hear words starting with ‘m’.”
Taking the hint, Jiang An rose gracefully. Before leaving, she asked Bai Yi to pass on a message.
“Tell Yinyin this: HO-23T. I’ll be waiting in the small garden outside.”
Bai Yi spent a long moment puzzling over what it could mean.
By 8:30, when the two finally emerged hand in hand, he couldn’t find an opening to relay the message at all.
The Alpha clung to the Omega, their eyes filled with nothing but them.
“Jie-jie, I’m hungry. Can you cook for me tonight?”
The O didn’t even glance at him, instead ruffling A’s hair and pinching A’s cheeks. “Alright, I’ll make whatever you want to eat. Plus, I’ll give you a little surprise.”
“What is it? What is it?”
“It’s a secret for now.”
Unable to take it any longer, Bai Yi interrupted sharply, “Hey!!”
