- Clingy! The Sickly but Beautiful and Strong Alpha Is a Loyal Puppy Who Needs Pampering
- Chapter 21 - Cry Twice and I'll Tell You
With Dr. Bei present, Commander Ruan tempered her usual sharp tongue and refrained from her signature “useless” remark.
Her tone was casual, almost conversational.
Yet Chen Chen still felt an impending sense of danger.
After all, this was the same ruthless woman who had once coldly ordered her own younger brother to go mine asteroids!
“Boss, my apologies! My mental state is perfectly fine—no need for extra training!”
To focus, he switched to manual steering and took control of the wheel himself.
A soft “hmph” came from the backseat, but the commander paid him no further attention, turning instead to cling to Bei Yin.
“Jiejie, you still haven’t told me—what’s the little surprise?”
Bei Yin played with her earlobe, amused. “We’ll be at the base in ten minutes. Can’t you wait?”
Ruanruan nuzzled into the crook of her neck, whining. “I’ve held back all night. I really can’t wait anymore. Just tell me now, please?”
“Will you cry if I don’t?”
“I won’t cry.”
Bei Yin teased, “Then cry twice, and I’ll tell you.”
“Jiejie has some strange tastes.”
Chen Chen: “…”
Aaaaaaaaaaah!!
Without hesitation, he slammed the thick partition between the front and back seats shut, blocking out all explosive remarks.
Not only did it completely mute the sound, but it also sealed off the faint, intoxicating scent of cold snow and liquor—Ruanruan’s pheromones—that had begun permeating the cramped space.
True to Bei Yin’s orders, the Alpha had kept the concentration at a mere one percent.
Completely non-threatening, as docile as its owner, the scent curled delicately around the Omega.
Fresh and clean, so pleasant that Bei Yin’s round eyes crinkled with delight.
“Using pheromones to bribe me now?” Ruanruan hugged her tighter, swaying gently. “Come on, tell me, baby…”
Chief Bei was losing her composure. Covering half her face, she turned away and took a few deep breaths—only to realize it was futile.
So, she gave in.
Taking Ruanruan’s hand, she traced numbers onto her palm, one stroke at a time.
The ticklish sensation of her fingertip made Ruanruan resist the urge to curl her fingers. She recited each digit as it was written.
“2, 1, 7, 8, 1, 1, 1… Jiejie, why are you writing a birthdate?”
Given that this little leopard already knew about her feud with Fu Jian, it wasn’t surprising she’d recognize November 1st as Bei Yin’s birthday.
Still, Bei Yin arched a brow. “How did you know my birthday?”
“Telepathy! I guessed!”
Bei Yin pinched her cheek—so full of feigned sincerity—and smirked. “No. Way.”
“Really, really!”
Lips that had been brushing against her earring now hovered just two centimeters from her fair cheek.
After a brief pause, confirming Bei Yin wasn’t about to push her away, Ruanruan planted a loud “mwah,” leaving behind a frost-kissed mark that shimmered like ice.
The lingering scent of her pheromones merged with the cool fragrance, delighting the Omega who adored both the aroma and its source even more.
“Alright, alright, I believe you.”
“Hehe~”
“As for those numbers…” Bei Yin ruffled her hair. “They’re the passcode to your room. I had it assigned next to mine.”
What she didn’t mention was that the room hadn’t been vacant. A female Beta officer—someone Bei Yin wasn’t particularly close to—had been living there.
To secure the space for her clingy Alpha, she’d sweet-talked and bribed her way through negotiations.
The Alpha clinging to her immediately flashed two sharp little fangs in glee. Overcome with excitement, she lost control of her strength and tackled Bei Yin onto the seat.
An invisible tail seemed to wag behind her as she buried her face against the collarbone, nuzzling restlessly.
“Thank you, sis. You’re so thoughtful—you really like me, don’t you?”
“Pfft—that tickles.” Bei Yin lightly patted the leopard’s head. “Get up now.”
Hearing this, the Alpha lifted her head, hands braced on either side of Bei Yin’s ears, gazing down at the Omega beneath her.
The backseat wasn’t well-lit, only occasionally illuminated by the colorful lights from the skyline outside.
In the dim glow, those dark eyes silently welled with a shadowy intensity.
“Where does it tickle?”
Her expression was sweet and docile, but her gaze slid down to those plump, red lips. Her strikingly beautiful face leaned closer, exuding an aggressive allure.
“Let Ruanruan take a look, okay…?”
As always, she moved slowly—deliberately so. If Bei Yin so much as frowned, she could instantly suppress the boiling desire within.
But Bei Yin merely tucked the stray hair behind her ear, then rested her hand against the right side of the Alpha’s head, her face wearing an indulgent smile.
She answered the request softly, “Mm, alright. Just ‘take a look.'”
The warm breath, laced with the scent of cold snow, drew nearer. The pheromones, stirred by their owner’s turbulent emotions, uncontrollably spiked to 4%.
Bei Yin’s heartbeat stuttered—
Then, screech! The hovercar jerked to an abrupt stop.
The inertia sent Ruan Fei lurching sideways.
The lips that were about to meet Bei Yin’s instead grazed past the corner of her mouth, sliding left as her entire face landed against Bei Yin’s shoulder.
The speaker crackled with Chen Chen’s damnable voice: “Boss, Dr. Bei, we’ve arrived at the destination!”
Ruan Fei didn’t move, but an uncontrollable trace of murderous intent seeped out—enough to make one believe she’d gladly kick Chen Chen to death.
Bei Yin pressed a fist to her lips. “Pfft—”
After a few seconds, Ruan Fei lifted her face and placed a featherlight kiss on Bei Yin’s cool, fair cheek.
Soon, everyone exited the car.
Chen Chen, with nowhere to stay and no orders from Commander Ruan to return to District 1, stood there bewildered, asking where he should go.
The Alpha, who had been obediently trailing Bei Yin, turned around—her face morphing into the visage of a deranged, bloodthirsty lunatic—and silently mouthed: Go dig mines in hell!
Chen Chen: “…”
Then, just before Bei Yin turned back, that terrifying expression instantly melted into something soft and sweet.
“Chen Chen, if you need a place to stay, my mom’s flower shop has a couch. It might not be the most comfortable, though.”
“No, no, no problem! Th-thank you, Dr. Bei! I can—”
“Don’t worry about him.” Ruan Fei cut in, taking Bei Yin’s hand. “He loves being self-sufficient.”
Chen Chen: “…”
Left standing alone under the swirling summer night breeze, he watched as Commander Ruan wrapped an arm around her Omega and walked off, all affectionate and cozy.
Only when the two had completely vanished did Chen Chen finally grab his hair and suck in a sharp breath.
With a long-suppressed roar, he screamed: “AAAAAHHHHH!!! SO TERRIFYING! SO HORRIFYING! SO FREAKING SCARY!! I SWEAR I’LL NEVER LET MYSELF CATCH FEELINGS!!”
…
Click. The door opened, and Xiao Ai came bouncing over.
“Welcome home, Master!”
As usual, Bei Yin smiled. “Thank you, Xiao Ai. Could you get me some water?”
“Sure thing!”
But the moment the skirt-clad robot turned around, Bei Yin swiftly plucked the chip from its metal skull.
She gently laid the now-lifeless Xiao Ai on the floor and crouched down, scanning its body. “There’s definitely something hidden inside.”
The Jiang family ran a robotics business in District 2, with stores spread across various regions.
Like Xiao Ai, whom Bai Yi bought from a store in District 6—he had mentioned this to her before.
He had even proudly boasted that Xiao Ai was the Jiang family’s latest generation of cleaning robots, with only ten available in District 6, and he had managed to snag one.
As for large machinery brought into military bases, they all had to undergo strict, multi-layered inspections.
The qualified verification results had put her mind completely at ease.
But in the end, she had still been careless.
Ruan Fei lifted her slippered foot. “Tear it apart. I’ll get you a better one.”
“All of Xiao Ai’s rich emotions were given to it by humans. If the creator installed something inside its body, it would have no way of knowing.”
Besides, Bei Yin smiled and said, “It’s adorable, works hard, and takes good care of me. I can’t bear to tear this little thing apart.”
Ruanruan hung her head. “I’m sorry, I was wrong.”
“No need to apologize. I know you’re actually just mad at Jiang An.” Bei Yin tugged at the Alpha’s sleeve. “Help me take it apart and check. I don’t know much about robots.”
Ruanruan flexed her arms. “Mhm, fixing robots is my specialty.”
By the time Bei Yin changed into loungewear and came out, Xiao Ai had already been dismantled into pieces in just a few minutes.
Ruanruan sat cross-legged on the floor, tinkering away intently. It was clear she really was skilled—and passionate—about machinery.
Bei Yin chuckled and turned toward the open kitchen.
