- Clingy! The Sickly but Beautiful and Strong Alpha Is a Loyal Puppy Who Needs Pampering
- Chapter 23 - No More Suitable Marriage Partner
Suddenly tasting a richly fragrant flower, the Alpha’s closed eyes betrayed an inner turmoil no less intense than her Omega’s.
Yet here she was, flaunting her sharp little fangs with that husky, domineering voice of hers.
“After all, sister is extremely sensitive to my pheromones—just 2% concentration is overwhelming. A kiss would probably feel like downing ancient aphrodisiacs, wouldn’t it?”
Bei Yin rested her forehead against the Alpha’s shoulder without lifting her head or speaking, giving her a firm slap on the shoulder instead.
“Alright, alright, I’ll stop.”
The Alpha chuckled lowly, her slender fingers threading through Bei Yin’s hair in slow, soothing strokes.
She reveled in the thought that the Omega in her arms seemed tailor-made for her.
Every little thing—her personality, her looks, her mischievous smiles, even the way she curled up against her—fit perfectly. The Alpha was certain she’d never find a more suitable life partner.
The earlier burst of pheromones had hit like a sudden gale—intense but fleeting.
Bei Yin recovered within a minute, her body cooling down completely.
Finding the Alpha’s embrace unexpectedly comfortable, she lingered there, idly toying with the sapphire earring on a soft earlobe.
“Give me a little more pheromones… let’s go straight to 2% this time.”
Ruanruan tilted her head. “Hmm?”
Bei Yin cut straight to the point. “We need to prepare for temporary marks in the future. I’m too sensitive to your pheromones—I should get used to higher concentrations now.”
She absolutely had to avoid the disastrous scenario of turning into a ravenous wolf, mauling Ruanruan in a frenzy.
The phrase “temporary mark” poured scalding oil over the simmering desire that hadn’t yet settled.
Every nerve screamed uncontrollably—mark her, bite down.
Just one nip, and the Omega’s scent gland would flood with the Alpha’s pheromones. For days afterward, she’d belong entirely to one person, untouchable by other Alphas.
Ruanruan didn’t know how much effort it took to lift her head.
Covering her eyes—now dark with manic obsession—she exhaled a scorching breath after a pause.
“Fine… I’ll give you whatever you need.”
Bei Yin braced herself for flushed cheeks and a racing heart.
But perhaps the earlier 5% had been too overwhelming, because returning to lower concentrations now felt disappointingly mild.
At most, her scent gland tingled slightly.
“Try 3%?”
Still shielding her eyes with one hand, Ruanruan obliged.
Bei Yin sighed impassively, reaching up to stroke that earlobe again. “Higher…”
“Huh? What’s going on?”
Bei Yin understood the confusion of this previously inexperienced Alpha—why was 3% now insufficient when even 2% had once been too much?
Two reasons.
First, craving pure Alpha pheromones was an Omega’s instinct. Like scoring 100% once—anything less afterward would feel inadequate.
Second, Chief Bei was uncharacteristically reluctant to admit she was both “hungry” and “thirsty.”
Since presenting at eighteen, a decade of suppressants had left her starved. That 5% pheromone hit had awakened a physiological craving—
And stirred an untouched scent gland’s primal need for relief.
At the end of the day, it was simply because she loved Ruanruan’s pheromones too much that it became so overwhelming.
Bei Yin didn’t bat an eye, her heartbeat steady: “I wanted to challenge the highest difficulty directly—more efficient.”
Ruan Fei didn’t suspect a thing, moving the hand on her back to gently pat her waist.
“Don’t push yourself too hard. I’ll always be here with you.”
Though she said this, she still released pheromones at a level four concentration.
Only then did Bei Yin’s expression shift from neutral.
It was like slowly sipping a glass of aged rum freshly chilled in snow—
Bringing a slight intoxication to the mind, a warmth to the glands, and an involuntary tightness in the chest.
Yet this discomfort was healthy, even pleasurable and soothing.
At the same time, it inevitably stirred some primal desires.
After a while, Bei Yin pinched Ruan Fei’s cheek: “Alright.”
The pheromones abruptly stopped, leaving only the lingering scent of cold snow filling the room.
The Omega in her arms didn’t get up immediately, instead curling deeper into her embrace, her face pressed against her right shoulder.
One foot rested on her leg, while the other dangled lazily off the edge, swaying slightly.
Unlike her usual mature, composed, and self-assured demeanor, the now-recovered Ruan Fei half-lidded her eyes and smiled at her—languid, like a lifelike sloth.
Chief Bei (Sloth Edition) lingered in her Alpha’s arms a little longer before straightening up and stretching contentedly.
“I’ll go make you some noodles.”
“Mhm, okay.” Ruan Fei pressed a kiss into her hair. “Thanks, sis.”
After preparing the sauce and while waiting for the noodles to cook, Bei Yin tidied up the counter.
As she wiped with the cloth, her round eyes couldn’t help but drift toward the Alpha sitting cross-legged behind her, engrossed in tinkering with machinery.
Bei Yin suspected that, unless on a mission, Ruanruan probably didn’t like tying her hair up in private.
She’d likely only done the little ponytail to project a youthful, lively vibe.
Unbeknownst to her, the innate intensity she carried undermined any attempt at cuteness.
Now, her untied black hair cascaded loosely on either side of her face, obscuring it completely.
Bei Yin set down the cloth, shifted a few steps to the right, and leaned her arms on the counter, gazing at that exquisitely focused profile.
Perhaps sensing something, Ruanruan turned her head and found Bei Yin looking at her with eyes full of adoration.
“Naughty sis, peeking at me.”
“Peeking? I was looking openly.”
“Just looking, nothing else?”
Bei Yin waved her hand. “Come here, I’ll tell you.”
Ruanruan immediately set down the mechanical leg in her hands and bounded over like a little leopard racing toward its keeper, an invisible tail wagging behind her.
Then, her forehead, cheeks, and the corners of her lips were each graced with blooming little blue roses—kisses she craved.
Her dark eyes narrowed into satisfied slits, only a sliver of her pupils visible as she gazed at her Omega with anticipation and a hint of impatience.
But Bei Yin released her face and waved again. “Alright, back to work.”
“There’s more…”
Bei Yin pretended not to notice her pouting lips, grinning mischievously. “That’s all. What else?”
Ruanruan pointed innocently with her finger. “Here, here.”
“Oh, right, right.”
With that, the tall, long-legged Alpha eagerly leaned in—
Only to watch helplessly as Bei Yin’s hand feinted near her lips before abruptly dropping to take her hand, kissing the back of it instead.
“Almost forgot—your hand needed a kiss too.”
The smiling, soft face suddenly turned gloomy as she muttered quietly, “Sister is such a big meanie.”
Bei Yin chuckled and pinched her slender cheek. “Our Ruanruan knows how much sister likes you, right?”
“I don’t know…” Ruanruan turned her face away. “I haven’t been officially approved yet, how would I know?”
Bei Yin couldn’t help but laugh even more.
Ruanruan was always so careful around her, as if she wished she had a hundred eyes to make sure she never made a single mistake in front of her.
But as they spent more time together, she had even learned to throw little tantrums—Bei Yin found it quite endearing.
