- Clingy! The Sickly but Beautiful and Strong Alpha Is a Loyal Puppy Who Needs Pampering
- Chapter 9 - Feeding Her Possessiveness
At half past ten in the evening, Bei Yin finished her work and left the rehabilitation area.
On her way back to the dormitory, she unexpectedly ran into Fan Ming, who was on night patrol with his team.
Fan Ming was a Beta in his forties.
With a wealth of experience, he had served as a soldier in Zone 1 and later as a captain in Zones 2 and 3 when he was younger. A few years ago, he lost an arm and a leg in an accident and subsequently retired to Zone 6 with mechanical prosthetics to train new recruits.
After exchanging greetings, Bei Yin said, “Uncle Fan, if you’re not busy, I’d like to ask you a few things.”
“Sure, sure! I actually wanted to ask you about something too. The whole Eighth Fleet is buzzing—what’s the deal with that Alpha of yours?”
The two of them walked to a small park in the Eighth Fleet. Nearby, simulated robotic fireflies flickered with white light, illuminating the area as brightly as day.
After listening to Bei Yin’s explanation, Uncle Fan advised, “Alphas and Omegas are naturally interdependent. Omegas inherently need Alphas. As long as she’s a good person and treats you well, why not give it a try after the dance?”
Bei Yin hummed in agreement before getting to the main point. I wanted to ask you about a surname—the ‘Ruan’ with the character ‘Yuan’ next to ‘ear.’ She’s twenty-two. Do you know which zone she might be from?”
“There are plenty with that name. Can you give me some other details?”
Bei Yin hesitated before saying, “A top-tier Alpha with an extremely strong pheromone. I suspect she comes from a military family.”
Uncle Fan stroked his chin with his mechanical hand, lost in thought, before his expression suddenly turned knowing. “Be honest with me—is the person you’re asking about your dance partner?”
Bei Yin sighed helplessly. “She won’t tell me her identity, so I thought I’d ask if you might know.”
“Kid, that Alpha of yours isn’t from just any ordinary family!” Uncle Fan exclaimed, shaking his head in amazement.
“So… who is she?”
“Well, the Ruan family is huge, and there are several young members around twenty-two. Give me a few more details, and I can narrow it down.”
Bei Yin paused before saying, “She’s excessively obsessive about certain things—to the point of being pathological.”
Obsessively convinced that if Bei Yin knew certain things, she would grow disgusted, resentful, and leave.
This created a cautious sense of inferiority, making her hide every aspect of herself she deemed unworthy.
And on the day they first met, the little leopard probably hadn’t noticed Bei Yin watching her—so she had no idea her cover was already blown.
“Also, her possessive tendencies toward Omegas far exceed normal levels.”
Uncle Fan sucked in a sharp breath. “I can think of one person, but the possessiveness doesn’t seem to match.”
Bei Yin added, “She’s never had an Omega before—until now.”
To be more precise, it wasn’t toward Omegas in general—just toward her alone.
She had been suppressing a yandere-like urge to monopolize, acting perfectly normal on the surface. But how could that fool a doctor’s eyes?
Uncle Fan slapped his thigh. “Then it can only be her—Ruan Fei! ‘Fei’ as in ‘jadeite.’ The current commander-in-chief of Zone 1, and the eldest daughter of Zone 1’s executive officer.”
Bei Yin: “…Holy—!”
She had considered that Ruanruan might be from Zone 1, but given her age, she assumed she was at most a squad leader.
She never expected to hear “Zone 1” and “commander-in-chief” in the same sentence.
So shocked that her glasses slid down to the tip of her nose, she didn’t even bother to push them back up.
Her usual composure shattered as disbelief washed over her face.
“Uncle, are you sure you’ve got the right person? Aren’t all commanders-in-chief at least forty? She’s only twenty-two—how is that possible?”
Uncle Fan sighed, “The person you’re describing matches only her. Ah, Ruan Fei… She’s a natural-born leader who stands above all Alphas. The interstellar community calls her a cold-blooded, ruthless lunatic.”
“Uh… How so?”
“She began serving as acting commander in battles at just eighteen. From what I’ve heard alone, she’s destroyed sixty-five planets—and that’s not counting recent years.”
“Temperamental, easily angered, merciless, and cruel in her methods—there’s no one who doesn’t fear her. An old comrade told me even her younger brother avoids her like the plague.”
Uncle Fan sighed and shook his head. “Girl, how did you get tangled up with that living Yama King?”
Bei Yin adjusted her glasses and answered truthfully, “We matched on a dating site.”
Uncle Fan: “…”
Uncle Fan: “Don’t lie to your uncle! As the commander of Zone 1, with countless noble Omegas lining up to marry into the Ruan family—why would she need to scour some rundown Zone 6 dating site for a wife?!”
“Ah… Well, I’m not entirely sure either.” Bei Yin had calmed down by now.
“Girl, I take back what I said about giving her a chance. Everyone says Ruan Fei has a terrible temperament—she’s too dangerous. Forget it, forget it.”
Bei Yin had only been surprised by Ruanruan’s position. Being so accomplished at twenty-two had nothing to do with her personality.
“With me, she’s not like that at all. She respects me and treats me well. Others’ opinions hold no reference value for me—there’s no need to heed them.”
After a pause, she added, “As for destroying planets, I suspect those dozens were all militant worlds where every inhabitant was a warrior—ones that invaded our homeland and harmed our people. Why show mercy to enemies? I trust she wouldn’t harm the innocent.”
Uncle Fan clapped his hands anxiously. “Nothing’s even settled between you two yet, and you’re already smitten?!”
Bei Yin smiled. “She really is very beautiful and captivating.”
Their impressions of Ruanruan were too deeply ingrained. Without understanding or spending time with her, further explanations would be pointless.
Faced with Uncle Fan’s objections, Bei Yin didn’t argue further. Instead, she took out a vial of medicine and coaxed him into drinking it.
Uncle Fan smacked his lips. “Huh? What’s this drink? Tastes familiar.”
“Of course—it’s the hypnotic amnesia potion you drank not long ago.” Bei Yin grinned mischievously.
Before Uncle Fan could utter a word of protest, a sharp snap sounded. His eyes gradually glazed over.
“Upon hearing the snap, you will forget all of our recent conversation.”
A second snap later, clarity returned to Uncle Fan’s gaze.
He looked around in confusion. “Huh? Bei girl, what are you doing here? How did I get here?”
“You got lost.” Bei Yin stood up with a smile.
Uncle Fan sensed something amiss. “Wait—did you use me as a test subject again? Tricked me into drinking memory-erasing water?”
“Thanks, Uncle. I’ll treat you to cake another day.”
“You little rascal! Get back here! Tell me about that Alpha you’ve been with!”
Bei Yin waved without turning around. “She’s wonderful.”
Over the past two days, she’d been giving Ruanruan subtle hints through head pats, praise, and physical affection—reassuring her she was someone trustworthy.
She’d even said outright she wasn’t afraid, yet the little leopard still didn’t dare reveal her name.
She didn’t want her to spend her life trapped in anxious insecurity.
The best treatment was first to provide overwhelming reassurance, satisfy her possessiveness, then gradually ease her paranoid tendencies.
…
Bei Yin entered the dormitory building when suddenly a lifelike corgi came running up behind her.
On its back was a small topless crate.
A communicator tied to its head transmitted the voice of the guard at the base entrance.
“Dr. Bein, there’s a package for you. It’s been inspected in advance according to regulations, and no hazardous items were found. We’ve sent it over with Little Run.”
“Got it, thanks.”
Bei Yin crouched down to pet the dog for a while, then took out a small metal box from the crate and returned to her dorm.
The little metal box looked unremarkable at first glance, but it was actually a miniaturized portable capsule container—some could expand to the size of a room when unfolded.
After clearing out the living room with Xiao Ai, Bei Yin placed the box on the empty floor and pressed the enlargement button on its surface.
With a series of “click-clack” sounds, the palm-sized box expanded into a full wardrobe in just five seconds.
Xiao Ai immediately clasped her hands to her face, her mechanical eyes turning into heart shapes: “Wow, so many beautiful dresses!”
