Cohabitation With The Maniacally Gorgeous CEO - Chapter 14
Chapter 14
An Yiqing returned to her room and washed the four-piece bedding set.
After finishing her chores, she went to buy groceries to make dinner.
She left her room and habitually glanced at the sofa.
No one was there.
A tea cup with a “Divine Doctor” collaboration logo was on the table.
The game had only ended an hour ago, and Xu Lingyin was already gone?
An Yiqing went over to tidy up the cup. The warmth transmitted through the ceramic to her skin gave a faint, comforting warmth.
It clearly hadn’t been put down long ago.
She placed it back in its original position, didn’t pay it any more mind, and strolled off to buy groceries.
Leaving the courtyard, An Yiqing looked at the Maybach by the gate and confirmed that Xu Lingyin hadn’t gone out.
In all the days they had lived here, the number of times they had shared a meal was very few.
Today was a rare occurrence.
After their misunderstanding during the game this afternoon, An Yiqing wanted to seize this coincidence to apologize to Xu Lingyin.
As Xu Lingyin had said, she shouldn’t have made baseless conjectures that upset her.
At the supermarket, she selected a few dishes according to Xu Lingyin’s preferences and hurried back to cook.
It took her a little longer to buy groceries today, but when she returned home, she still didn’t see Xu Lingyin.
She couldn’t find her anywhere, so Xu Lingyin must have returned to her room to rest.
An Yiqing started preparing dinner.
Based on her observations over the past few days, An Yiqing had discovered that Xu Lingyin preferred seafood dishes.
Her stomach wasn’t good, and there were some foods she couldn’t eat too much of, so An Yiqing tried to choose dishes that wouldn’t affect her health while also catering to her preference.
If Xu Lingyin ate her favorite dishes, would she forgive her for her rashness this afternoon?
An Yiqing’s heart was inexplicably fluttering.
A rare smile of joy played on her lips.
Her bright apricot eyes held anticipation.
In good spirits, she worked more quickly and soon prepared dinner.
Today, unlike before, she didn’t put Xu Lingyin’s portion in the insulated cabinet but directly placed it on the table.
Since Xu Lingyin was home, she just needed a call to start eating; there was no need for extra fuss.
Taking off her apron, An Yiqing tidied herself up and walked toward Xu Lingyin’s room.
Looking at the closed door, she thought for a moment, then lowered the foot she had raised.
Pulling out her phone, she opened the chat box and sent a message to Xu Lingyin.
Qing: Miss Xu, dinner is ready
Xu Lingyin didn’t reply.
An Yiqing took a picture of the dishes on the table and sent it over.
Five minutes passed, and there was still no movement.
An Yiqing held her phone with both hands, her thumb rubbing the edge of the phone case.
After repeatedly looking at the message, she pulled her gaze away and turned towards the door she had never approached before.
Should she just knock? What if she wasn’t looking at her phone?
On second thought, An Yiqing worried that Xu Lingyin would be annoyed with her.
She was indecisive about whether to go or not.
Five or six minutes passed.
An Yiqing put away her phone, tidied her hair, made up her mind, and walked toward Xu Lingyin’s room.
Xu Lingyin’s door was pure white. An Yiqing wiped her sweaty palms and raised her hand to knock.
“Miss Xu, dinner is ready.”
Her voice was loud, ensuring the person inside could hear.
However, there was no sound.
After waiting for a while, she knocked a few more times, still with no response.
An Yiqing’s brow subtly furrowed. She called Xu Lingyin’s phone.
Unanswered.
An Yiqing glanced at the door, then at her phone, and returned to the table.
Her gaze swept over the three dishes. She packed them up and put them in the insulated cabinet.
The dishes weren’t as hot anymore.
A stomach full of things she wanted to say, along with the slightly cooled dishes, were swallowed down.
An Yiqing ate without appetite.
For the first time, she felt her cooking skills were lacking.
After finishing her yoga, An Yiqing logged into her side account and played a few rounds of Qing Du Yao.
She went up one rank.
She was about to take a shower when Yu Sirou called.
“Miss An, A-Yin is drunk. Could you please come and pick her up?”
An Yiqing quickly asked for the address and immediately drove to Yongning Hotel.
She went out drinking. Was Xu Lingyin upset because of the misunderstanding this afternoon?
An Yiqing’s heart tensed up, and her hands on the steering wheel were sweaty.
Playing games was supposed to be a fun thing, but she just had to meddle in other people’s social circles.
Disturbing Xu Lingyin’s peace.
Why bother?
An Yiqing continuously reflected.
She regretted it a little. She had agreed not to pry into her privacy, and yet she had caused such a scene.
She didn’t know what had come over her at the time; she had just acted that way subconsciously.
Xu Lingyin, with such an overbearing personality, was so aggrieved that she had to go to a hotel to drink her sorrows away.
How angry must she be?
She would rather Xu Lingyin were like she was when they first met, ready to kick her out if she was unhappy.
Not doing things that harmed her own body.
Her pale face, bloodless lips, and body twitching in pain…
The image of Xu Lingyin being sick the last time flashed before her eyes, and An Yiqing truly dared not think about it any further.
Speeding up, she flew towards Yongning Hotel.
Upon arriving at the parking lot, An Yiqing headed straight for her destination.
Yu Sirou had already informed someone, and someone was there to take her upstairs.
At the entrance of the banquet hall, she scanned the crowd for Xu Lingyin’s figure.
Suddenly, she was tripped by someone.
“Excuse me, are you alright?” A refined man in front of her quickly steadied her, asking with concern.
An Yiqing staggered slightly but quickly regained her balance, replying distractedly, “I’m fine.”
Bypassing the man, An Yiqing continued to walk inside.
The lighting in the banquet hall was warm yellow, cozy but not a bright, clear light.
The space was large, and there were many people, all upper-class individuals in formal attire, gathered in small groups.
Finding someone was a bit troublesome.
An Yiqing took out her phone, intending to call Yu Sirou.
The man from earlier, however, said, “Miss, are you looking for Yu Sirou?”
Turning to look at him, An Yiqing quickly asked, “Do you know where she is?”
The man nodded and personally led her to the northeast corner of the banquet hall.
The light was dimmer in the corner. Xu Lingyin held a glass of wine and tilted back her pale, swan-like neck.
The red liquid swirled in the glass, slowly flowing into her crimson lips.
She put down the glass, her willow-leaf brows curving, her fox eyes imbued with pleasant intoxication.
She had lost her usual sharp, overbearing demeanor.
She slowly lifted her eyelids, rotated her eyes, looked at Yu Sirou, and curled her lips: “Yuyu, I’m very happy today. Hurry up and drink with me. If you don’t drink, I’ll fine you ten cups.”
Her speech was slow, and her voice was clear with a hint of softness.
Someone heard her wanting to drink and proactively approached to toast, but they received a glare from her.
“Stay away from me.”
Drunk as she was, she could surprisingly distinguish between her own people and outsiders.
An Yiqing walked over, remembered the person who had helped her earlier, and wanted to thank him.
Turning her head, the man was long gone.
An Yiqing quickly went to Yu Sirou’s side.
She was dressed in casual clothes, wedged between Xu Lingyin and Yu Sirou.
Amidst the sparkling high fashion and evening gowns, she stood out in her dullness.
More and more curious gazes were cast their way. Yu Sirou whispered for An Yiqing to take Xu Lingyin away, then she got up herself to divert those people’s attention.
Once people stopped paying attention to them, An Yiqing softly said, “Miss Xu, you’ll get drunk if you drink anymore. I’ll take you home.”
Xu Lingyin’s somewhat clumsy gaze fell upon her, and she suddenly burst out laughing.
Like a clear spring.
It splashed all over An Yiqing’s heart.
Taking a deep breath, An Yiqing reached out to take the glass from her hand.
“Don’t move.” The smell of alcohol was exhaled onto An Yiqing’s face.
An Yiqing was almost intoxicated herself.
“Miss Xu, give it to me,” An Yiqing said patiently.
Xu Lingyin didn’t let go. She looked quietly at An Yiqing and slowly spoke: “Who… are… you?”
Does she only recognize Miss Yu?
An Yiqing’s heart sank. She whispered, “The person who is taking you home.”
“Oh, a bodyguard,” Xu Lingyin smiled. “Drink this, and I’ll go with you.”
The wine glass was pushed to her lips. An Yiqing was helpless: “I can’t drink if I’m driving.”
“Does the bodyguard have to drive?” Xu Lingyin glared, her tone becoming domineering again, “Drink it.”
An Yiqing stared at her: “If I drink it, you’ll go home with me?”
“Mm.” Xu Lingyin nodded once, then again.
Her appearance was truly adorable. An Yiqing’s head heated up, and holding her hand, she took a gulp of the wine in the glass.
