Cohabitation With The Maniacally Gorgeous CEO - Chapter 19
Chapter 19
Wiping the bl00d from her heel, An Yiqing stood up and helped support Xu Lingyin.
“An Yiqing, anyone who doesn’t know would think my leg is broken.”
Xu Lingyin took a step, inhaling sharply.
Pain in her body was always like this: unnoticed until discovered, and then it became excruciating.
“Where is Hu Bingjie? Make her pay for my medical expenses.” Xu Lingyin’s beautiful eyebrows furrowed, her eyes growing dark. “And my car.”
“She ran off,” An Yiqing said, supporting her without letting go.
Only An Yiqing’s car remained on the road; the entire street was empty.
Xu Lingyin gently removed An Yiqing’s hand and circled the black car.
The tire skid marks from the braking were very clear.
Xu Lingyin squatted down, looked carefully for a moment, and asked, “Hu Bingjie had bodyguards block you?”
“Yes,” An Yiqing said, observing her expression, which seemed off.
Xu Lingyin’s gaze became sharp, staring at the entrance of Qichuan Middle School. A moment later, a gloomy look returned to her face.
“You go back first.” Her voice was cold. She stood up from the ground and walked in the opposite direction.
An Yiqing reached out and grasped her arm: “The wound could get infected. Let’s go back and treat it first.”
Xu Lingyin ignored her, continuing to walk forward in her high heels.
Her steps didn’t seem affected by the wound; it was as if the person who gasped in pain just now wasn’t her.
Every step was clean and decisive.
An Yiqing lowered her eyes.
Xu Lingyin’s expression of distress flashed before her.
She didn’t like it.
She quickly caught up, blocking Xu Lingyin’s path.
“I’ll take you later, but let’s go home first.”
“An Yiqing, who gave you the guts to stop me?” Xu Lingyin asked with a half-smile.
An Yiqing looked up, meeting her eyes: “When facing problems, being direct is more practical. This is a fine quality of Miss Xu, and I’ve decided to carry on that spirit.”
Xu Lingyin: ?
Was she giving a report?
Receiving Xu Lingyin’s glare, An Yiqing’s expression remained calm. She took two steps closer: “Your foot is injured. Do you need me to carry you to the car?”
When she said this, her expression was neutral, completely devoid of any teasing or suggestive intent.
It was a very sincere offer of help.
Xu Lingyin slightly lifted her chin, warning: “Was the knife not sharp enough last time?”
The cold glint of the knife flashed before An Yiqing’s eyes. She said: “Regardless, you need to go back and treat your wound first. We can discuss the rest after you’re better.”
The dark shadow on the ground subtly moved. Her curly hair swung, and her clear voice uttered two words.
“Open the door.”
As the words fell, An Yiqing’s lips curled up. She quickly ran to the other side and opened the car door.
She should have known earlier that beneath Xu Lingyin’s domineering facade, there was a soft side to her heart.
The walls full of photos in the house were the best proof.
An Yiqing drove steadily forward, glancing at the person in the passenger seat.
What had this woman gone through to be so covered in thorns?
Her thoughts circled a few times, and they arrived home.
Helping Xu Lingyin into the elevator, An Yiqing reminded her: “Don’t go out again tonight.”
“Mhm.” Xu Lingyin leaned against the elevator, her eyes closed.
An Yiqing was surprised by her quick agreement and felt a sense of relief.
She opened the apartment door and stepped one foot inside.
Her face froze. She quickly backed out and slammed the door shut.
An Yiqing pulled the person next to her and walked away: “There aren’t any anti-inflammatory drugs at home, right? Let’s go to the hospital or a nearby clinic to deal with it.”
“An Yiqing, what are you doing?” Xu Lingyin shook off her hand and walked towards the door herself.
“Xu Lingyin!” An Yiqing grabbed her wrist and pulled her forcefully closer.
The soft body fell into her arms.
The perfume tonight was exceptionally sharp, wafting intensely, enveloping An Yiqing and stimulating her senses.
For a moment, her world was nothing but the scent of green mandarin orange.
The hallway light shone on the two of them, casting two black shadows on the ground.
Clinging to each other.
“An… Yi… Qing!” The three words were squeezed through her teeth, anger mixed with an emotion she couldn’t quite place.
An Yiqing gripped her shoulders and quickly helped her stand up.
“Sorry, that was an accident.”
“Let go, I’m going to find the knife.” Xu Lingyin pushed her away, reaching to open the door.
An Yiqing didn’t bother dwelling on the awkwardness. She shot forward like the wind, squeezing herself between Xu Lingyin and the door.
“Let’s go to the hospital first. The knife at the hospital might be sharper and handier.”
Xu Lingyin crossed her arms: “What happened inside?”
“Nothing,” An Yiqing shook her head.
Xu Lingyin didn’t ask again. She took out her phone: “I’m calling the police.”
“Calling the police is fine,” An Yiqing nodded.
Staring coldly at her, Xu Lingyin spoke into the phone: “Hello, police? There’s a hooligan at my doorstep…”
*
Xu Lingyin wasn’t really calling the police; she had called her assistant.
The girl who poured coffee for An Yiqing last time at the company, named Mo Zhi, arrived.
The three people stood in the living room, their eyes falling upon the total mess on the floor.
Posters and photos were scattered everywhere; there was no room to step.
An Yiqing hadn’t wanted to affect Xu Lingyin’s mood, which was why she didn’t want her to see it.
She thought that after she cleaned it up, she could discuss it with Xu Lingyin, and maybe she wouldn’t be so angry.
The opposite happened.
How could Xu Lingyin not see through An Yiqing’s small trick?
An Yiqing sighed silently, squatted down, and started to clean up.
“Don’t move.”
The corners of Xu Lingyin’s mouth turned down, her expression more terrifying than when An Yiqing first met her.
It felt like she was about to grab a knife and go out the next moment.
Of course, she didn’t go out. After stopping An Yiqing, she calmly walked back to her room, took out her camera, and started taking pictures.
Mo Zhi found a spot where the photos had been cleared and took out her laptop to work on something.
They were all busy, so An Yiqing didn’t sit idle either.
After Xu Lingyin finished taking photos, An Yiqing asked, “Can I clean up now?”
“Someone will clean it.”
As Xu Lingyin’s words fell, two people appeared at the door.
One was unfamiliar, but the other was very recognizable: the recently departed Hu Bingjie.
Seeing the situation on the floor, Hu Bingjie raised an eyebrow and laughed uncontrollably: “Xu Lingyin, that’s what you get for constantly offending people. Karma, isn’t it?”
“Shut up,” Xu Lingyin walked to the only intact refrigerator, struggled to open it, took out four bottles of drinks, and tossed one to everyone—except Hu Bingjie.
She glanced sideways at the person by the door and sneered: “Start working. Do you think you’re here as guests? If you can’t make it spotless, don’t go home tonight.”
“Xu Lingyin, you don’t actually think I did this, do you?” Hu Bingjie was furious.
Pop.
Xu Lingyin opened her drink bottle, turned, walked to the French window, sat down casually on a broken sofa, crossed her legs, and took a sip of her drink.
Hu Bingjie tried to run, but An Yiqing quickly grabbed her.
The bodyguards at the door simultaneously blocked the exit.
It was a perfect net; there was no escaping.
“Xu Lingyin, I won’t take the blame for something I didn’t do!” Hu Bingjie screamed, running toward Xu Lingyin.
An Yiqing intercepted her: “Hurry up and start.”
Hu Bingjie was stuck between a rock and a hard place. She could only squat down and began muttering curses as she cleaned.
An Yiqing fetched the anti-inflammatory medicine, walked up to Xu Lingyin, squatted in front of her, and gently removed her high heels.
Xu Lingyin: ?
An Yiqing: “Your health is more important.”
