Cohabitation With The Maniacally Gorgeous CEO - Chapter 26
Chapter 26
The next day, An Yiqing went to deliver the meal. The fragrant food was laid out on the table, but Xu Lingyin didn’t spare it a glance.
She buried her head in her work.
The keyboard clattered loudly.
No wonder Xu Lingyin just smiled it off when she heard her request yesterday.
She never intended to adopt her suggestion.
An Yiqing sat in front of the table, waiting for Xu Lingyin to eat with her, just like yesterday.
She had a healthy body; delaying meals for a day or two wouldn’t matter.
The key was Xu Lingyin. With her delicate stomach, constantly doing this would surely lead to trouble.
Sitting at the dining table, An Yiqing was at a loss.
Xu Lingyin walked over and told her to eat first.
“President Xu is handling ten thousand affairs a day, not even having time to eat. I, a humble employee, must sacrifice myself to keep you company,” An Yiqing couldn’t help but imitate Ye Qiange’s sarcastic tone.
She hoped Xu Lingyin would pay attention to her health.
Xu Lingyin’s beautiful foxy eyes swept over, glaring at her: “If I don’t handle ten thousand affairs a day, how can I afford to pay my employees? Hurry up and eat; I have a meeting to attend.”
Of course, she couldn’t eat during a meeting.
An Yiqing’s sarcastic reminder failed, and she could only eat her meal in silence.
Normally, An Yiqing was quite confident in her cooking, but at this moment, it tasted like chewing wax.
After hastily filling her stomach, An Yiqing re-covered the dishes and sat by the window, waiting boredly.
She wondered, how exactly could she get Xu Lingyin to eat on time?
A knock on the door interrupted her nascent thoughts. An Yiqing checked the time; only fifteen minutes had passed since Xu Lingyin left.
The meeting shouldn’t be that short.
She strode to open the door and saw Mo Zhi standing there.
“Miss An, President Xu would like you to come and choose a computer,” Mo Zhi smiled.
An Yiqing only used a computer for video editing. Bringing her own laptop would be enough.
There was no need to specially prepare one.
“No need to trouble yourselves,” An Yiqing said truthfully.
Mo Zhi insisted: “I heard Miss An has some work that requires a computer, and it’s troublesome to carry a laptop back and forth. You should still choose one. You can also play games on the computer to pass the time when you’re bored.”
Was Xu Lingyin worried she was bored?
An Yiqing mused and decided not to refuse anymore.
In a gaming company, computers were the least scarce resource.
An Yiqing followed Mo Zhi to the server room.
There were indeed some new computers here.
They weren’t the black, boxy shapes she imagined. Generally speaking, they were probably part of the Qingdu Yao merchandise series.
The light blue Little Fish Fairy was very prominent.
Light blue paired with deep-sea gradient blue, resembling flowing waves.
An Yiqing spotted it immediately.
Without hesitation, she chose that one.
Mo Zhi powered it on, allowing her to test if she was comfortable with it.
An Yiqing sat in front of the computer and saw the video-sharing website she posted on among the icons.
This video website wasn’t very mainstream, focusing mainly on lifestyle videos.
She hadn’t expected this computer to have it installed.
“Did you install this software?” An Yiqing clicked on it.
Mo Zhi shook her head: “President Xu installed it.”
An Yiqing was slightly surprised: “She watches these kinds of videos too?”
Mo Zhi stared at the video on the screen: “Yes, she watches them every day during lunch. It seems she can’t eat without videos. Does Miss An watch those videos too?”
“Yes, often,” An Yiqing answered casually, “But I don’t watch them while eating.”
“If Miss An doesn’t feel like eating, you can watch them. Once, I accidentally glanced at President Xu’s screen. The food they cook is indeed quite appetizing and can make you eat a little more. After President Xu watches, she always finishes her lunch.”
Was it that effective?
An Yiqing pondered with her head lowered. A moment later, she suddenly had an idea: If she played those gourmet videos for Xu Lingyin every day, wouldn’t Xu Lingyin be unable to resist eating?
An Yiqing thought her idea was brilliant. At the same time, she lamented that her own cooking skills needed improvement.
Food was right in front of her, yet it couldn’t attract attention as much as someone else’s video.
This wouldn’t do.
She turned to Mo Zhi: “Assistant Mo, whose videos does President Xu usually like to watch?”
“What videos?”
A clear voice came from outside the door. Xu Lingyin’s high heels clicked on the floor, the sound ringing in their ears.
Mo Zhi smiled: “President Xu, Miss An has chosen the Little Fish Fairy one. I’ll have someone send it to your office now.”
With that, Mo Zhi nodded to An Yiqing and went out to call someone.
The video website was open on the screen, and the recommended videos, almost all gourmet-related, kept changing.
An Yiqing’s submissions even popped up.
In a sea of warm tones, her videos looked a bit drab and were genuinely difficult to attract attention.
Xu Lingyin’s gaze swept over. She reached out and turned off the computer: “Let’s go.”
An Yiqing stood up, walked next to her, and quietly asked: “Xu Lingyin, do you watch that website too?”
“What about it?” Xu Lingyin looked at her strangely.
“I watch it too. Can you share with me?” An Yiqing offered a smile, “I also have treasure videos to share with you.”
“Why would I share treasure with anyone else?” Xu Lingyin was quite domineering.
That made perfect sense.
An Yiqing fell silent.
…
Back in the office, after Xu Lingyin finished her meal, two people delivered the computer.
The computer desk was placed by the window, diagonally opposite Xu Lingyin’s office desk.
From this position, no matter how many gourmet videos she played, she wouldn’t be able to lure Xu Lingyin.
An Yiqing walked to Xu Lingyin’s desk and pointed at the floor: “Can my computer be placed here? I won’t affect your work.”
“It’s spacious over there; just put it there,” Xu Lingyin didn’t agree.
An Yiqing lied: “This is your territory, and the spot closest to you is definitely the best. Xu Lingyin, can I sit in the best spot?”
Xu Lingyin laughed in exasperation: “An Yiqing, why didn’t I notice before that you were so demanding?”
An Yiqing quickly explained: “If I’m well, it’ll bring prosperity to the boss. If the boss is well, it’ll bring prosperity to the employees. It’s a virtuous cycle. Xu Lingyin…”
“That’s enough,” Xu Lingyin had a headache listening to her and instructed the movers to shift the computer over.
An Yiqing got her wish and sat next to Xu Lingyin.
They were no more than two meters apart.
With the large computer screens, they could clearly see the content on each other’s monitors.
An Yiqing stared straight ahead and never looked at Xu Lingyin’s computer.
But she hoped Xu Lingyin would look at hers.
She started playing videos from the content creators with the most subscribers on the video website.
Three hours later, Xu Lingyin hadn’t looked once.
An Yiqing was certain that the videos she chose were all top-notch.
Beautiful visuals, unique scripts, interesting voiceovers, and a fast pace.
Especially the food, which made one want to praise its “color, aroma, and taste” even through the screen.
An Yiqing couldn’t understand why those flawless videos failed to catch Xu Lingyin’s attention.
Perhaps Xu Lingyin was full today?
The only way to test if the method worked was to try again.
…
It was evening again for dinner, and An Yiqing arrived at the company at six.
Employees were either going home or eating in the cafeteria.
Only in the President’s office did the keyboard clatter.
An Yiqing didn’t set the table today. She placed the food on the table and turned on her computer.
During a break in typing, Xu Lingyin glanced at her: “Go eat.”
“I’m watching some videos to stimulate my appetite,” An Yiqing lied casually.
The sound of typing stopped abruptly, then continued a moment later.
Xu Lingyin said no more, burying herself in her work.
An Yiqing carefully selected a few videos and set them to autoplay.
She leaned back in her computer chair, watching Xu Lingyin’s reaction closely out of the corner of her eye.
Xu Lingyin’s eyes were fixed on her screen, highly focused.
She was immersed in her work again.
One video finished, the screen flashed, and the next video started.
Xu Lingyin turned her head.
An Yiqing saw a glimmer of hope.
A smile touched her lips, but she watched as Xu Lingyin picked up her coffee cup and took a small sip.
Her gaze returned to her own computer.
An Yiqing: …
After two hours of relentless playback, An Yiqing quietly turned off the video.
The method had only worked on herself; her stomach was rumbling non-stop.
Xu Lingyin happened to finish a project and looked over: “Your appetite seems stimulated enough? Hurry up and eat. I still need another hour.”
This woman wouldn’t listen to reason herself, but she liked to dictate others.
An Yiqing’s plan failed again, and she had to think of a new approach.
Before the hour was up, and before An Yiqing could think of a solution, Xu Lingyin couldn’t hold on any longer.
The sound of a cup shattering echoed through the office.
An Yiqing’s heart jumped with a sharp pang.
She quickly ran over and saw Xu Lingyin’s face was pale, with a fine layer of sweat on her forehead.
Her willow-leaf eyebrows were clouded with a sticky moisture.
Her lips were white and bloodless.
An Yiqing quickly supported her: “Xu Lingyin, where is your stomach medicine?”
No sooner had she spoken than Xu Lingyin fainted directly.
An Yiqing lifted the person from the chair and flew into the elevator, rushing her to the hospital.
…
The same words she had heard not long ago once again chattered non-stop.
An Yiqing nodded and returned to the ward.
The person on the bed was on an IV drip and had already woken up.
She looked physically and mentally exhausted, leaning obliquely against the pillow, listless.
Seeing her walk in, Xu Lingyin said: “An Yiqing, lend me your phone.”
She sounded quite weak and was clearly not fit to talk much.
An Yiqing pulled out her phone: “Who should I call? I’ll do it for you.”
“Tell Mo Zhi to send my laptop over,” Xu Lingyin said.
An Yiqing looked up sharply: “Xu Lingyin, won’t you ever learn?”
She was never a forceful person, yet she spoke such words.
Xu Lingyin froze, then glared at her: “An Yiqing, who gave you permission to speak to me like that?”
“I’ve said it. What can you do to me? Xu Lingyin, if you’re angry, you might as well hand me a knife like you did before. I’m afraid Miss Xu can’t even hold a knife now,” An Yiqing’s tone was flat.
Xu Lingyin gritted her teeth: “An Yiqing, have I been too good to you recently, giving you the mistaken impression that I’m easy to talk to?”
An Yiqing pursed her lips and remained silent.
A knock sounded, and the delivery person arrived.
An Yiqing took the food to the bedside, carefully moved the IV stand aside, and opened the container.
The light aroma of congee wafted out.
She held up the millet congee and brought it to Xu Lingyin’s mouth.
“No matter what, you can’t go without eating,” An Yiqing gently blew on it.
Xu Lingyin sneered: “Don’t be nice to me one moment and mean the next.”
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said that just now,” An Yiqing’s tone was very sincere, “I just hope you can eat on time every day. When you’re healthy, you’ll have the energy to work well, right?”
Xu Lingyin pouted: “Is cold sarcasm how you show concern for me? The first sentence sounds like my mother, and the second like my father. Someone who knows would say I hired a bodyguard, but someone who doesn’t would think I hired a mom and dad.”
“Will being your mom and dad make you eat on time?” An Yiqing looked softly at the person in front of her.
“An! Yi! Qing!” Xu Lingyin gnashed her teeth, grabbing the pillow behind her to throw at An Yiqing.
However, she was completely out of strength, and the pillow stayed obediently propped up behind her.
An Yiqing smiled: “Eat something, and you can strike back once you recover.”
Xu Lingyin gave her a fierce look.
An Yiqing said lightly: “You have no strength now. If I feed you, you won’t be able to fight back.”
Xu Lingyin bit her lip, reached for the spoon, and obediently started eating the congee.
