Cohabitation With The Maniacally Gorgeous CEO - Chapter 5
Chapter 5Â
The domineering young lady, actively expressing a need to her?
An Yiqing lowered her head, staring at the untouched food on the table, lost in thought.
A moment later, she asked: “Should I make a new batch, or take the existing food?”
Xu Lingyin’s clear yet fragile voice came through the receiver: “Has the existing food passed its expiry date?”
An Yiqing: …
“No.”
“No need to ask the obvious.”
This young lady was not an excessively particular person.
Quite to her liking.
An Yiqing quickly packed the food and drove to the hospital.
The night was deepening, but An Yiqing looked ahead and inexplicably felt brighter.
The drive was smooth.
The hospital was brightly lit. An Yiqing carried the food container, walking briskly.
In a few minutes, she arrived at Xu Lingyin’s room.
The door was still closed. An Yiqing gripped the container and knocked lightly.
“Come in.”
It was Xu Lingyin’s voice.
Pushing the door open, An Yiqing walked inside.
In the spacious room, only Xu Lingyin was lying on the bed.
Yu Sirou was nowhere to be seen.
After the IV drip was finished, Xu Lingyin’s mental state was much better. Leaning against the soft pillow, her gaze fell on An Yiqing.
The sense of fragility was gone, replaced by audacity and dominance.
An Yiqing ignored her scrutiny, walked to the bedside, placed the food container, and opened the lid.
Neither of them spoke. The sound of the plastic containers clashing was very clear.
That gaze became increasingly brazen.
An Yiqing attempted to divert her attention, trying to make conversation: “Has Miss Yu left?”
The person on the bed offered a slight, knowing smile, white fingers twirling the strand of hair on her chest.
She was idly smoothing it.
Still looking at An Yiqing.
After arranging the food, An Yiqing handed her a bowl of rice: “The temperature is quite suitable. You should eat it now.”
Xu Lingyin took it, glanced at the food, lifted her eyelids, and slightly parted her lips: “An Yiqing?”
“Yes?”
An Yiqing responded unconsciously.
Her own name, uttered from that mouth, transformed into spring rain, falling entirely upon her heart.
Something was quietly growing, drinking the nourishing rain.
Glancing at Xu Lingyin, An Yiqing waited for her to speak.
However, the other person had already started eating and had no time to talk.
The food had been sitting for several hours, not as fragrant as when it was freshly made.
An Yiqing subtly observed her reaction.
People with stomach problems are usually picky eaters.
If Xu Lingyin complained that the food wasn’t fragrant and refused to eat, should she offer an explanation?
“Does it look good?”
The spoon clinked against the bowl, and Xu Lingyin’s voice interrupted her thoughts.
Feeling caught in the act of sneaking a look, An Yiqing turned her gaze away, trying to regain her composure, then turned back, meeting the unrestrained gaze directly.
Xu Lingyin threatened: “Keep staring at me while I eat, and watch your eyes.”
The remark was quite chilling, but the young lady, perhaps unaware of her physical discomfort, lacked the usual intensity, making it sound not unlike a spoiled complaint.
Xu Lingyin had such a cute side. No wonder the house she decorated was so beautiful.
A smile curved on An Yiqing’s lips. She shifted her eyes toward the window: “I just wanted to wish you a pleasant meal.”
The person on the bed surprisingly didn’t retort and continued eating.
She didn’t chew quickly; one spoonful of food took a long time.
People with stomach problems should chew slowly and thoroughly, which aids digestion.
An Yiqing had read a similar suggestion when looking up recipes.
Miss Xu hadn’t completely given up on herself.
This stomach ailment might be treatable.
A shadow flashed outside the window, and Yu Sirou gracefully approached.
She was carrying some daily necessities.
An Yiqing didn’t have time to open the door, so Yu Sirou knocked twice and walked right in.
She greeted An Yiqing and then placed the items in the storage cabinet.
The person on the bed had just finished eating and was still looking at An Yiqing by the bedside.
An Yiqing stood up to hand her a tissue and, while she was at it, collected the food containers.
The rice and dishes were eaten very cleanly, not a single bit wasted.
Whether the young lady truly enjoyed the food or if it was a good habit she had cultivated, An Yiqing felt a fondness for her.
Yu Sirou finished putting away the items and was very surprised to see the empty containers on the table: “Did Ah Yin eat all this?”
“Yes,” An Yiqing packed the empty boxes.
“Don’t make such a fuss,” Xu Lingyin scoffed. “Haven’t you ever seen me eat?”
Yu Sirou laughed: “How should I put it? It’s been a while. Ah Yin, you did very well today. Of course, to make you eat, Miss An’s culinary skills must be top-notch.”
She gave a thumbs-up.
“Thank you for the compliment,” An Yiqing packed up her things and said goodbye.
She walked to the door, and behind her, Xu Lingyin’s sneer was heard: “Say goodbye for what reason?”
Stopping her steps, An Yiqing turned to look.
One standing, one sitting, both looking at her.
“Miss Xu helped me find someone, and I will fulfill the requirement,” An Yiqing explained.
Yu Sirou didn’t know the details and turned to ask the person on the bed: “Ah Yin, did you make a request to Miss An?”
Xu Lingyin didn’t answer her, her fox-eyes fixed on An Yiqing.
“Whether you leave or stay is decided by me,” Xu Lingyin, now full, became utterly dominant. “I’ve changed my mind now. You will stay.”
Others might change their minds on a whim, but An Yiqing would not comply.
Since childhood, her mother had taught her to be trustworthy.
She had practiced this well over the years.
As a teacher, she had to set an even better example.
An Yiqing said, “I apologize, Miss Xu. If you need meal ordering, I can provide that service. As for co-renting, I will stick to what you said, and I will move out tonight.”
Taking one step toward the door, she paused and smiled: “Miss Xu, I wish you a speedy recovery.”
With that, without waiting for the person inside to try and retain her, she left.
The door closed tightly, leaving a room full of silence.
Xu Lingyin’s expression was not good. Her eyes narrowed, staring sharply out the window.
That woman’s footsteps were quick. In the blink of an eye, her voice and figure had disappeared.
She didn’t understand. She had explicitly told An Yiqing to stay, and yet she refused.
She had seemed so eager to co-rent before. Was it all an act?
Clutching the blanket tightly, her knuckles turned white.
A hint of ferocity flashed in her eyes, then vanished.
Yu Sirou took a stool, sat down by the bed, and sighed softly: “I thought Miss An would be different, but unexpectedly, she also doesn’t want to stay.”
“It’s my fault,” Xu Lingyin gritted her teeth and recounted the bar incident.
Yu Sirou’s expression was serious: “Miss An is certainly living up to her profession.”
Yes, she was too much so.
Even the domineering Xu Lingyin couldn’t help but admire An Yiqing.
How many people could actually follow through on their word?
However, once she decided something, others couldn’t easily change it.
An Yiqing wanted to leave, but it wouldn’t be that easy.
Taking out her phone, she opened WeChat, looked at her contact list, and fell silent.
That woman hadn’t even added her on WeChat.
“She never even asked for my contact information?” Xu Lingyin found it bizarre.
Yu Sirou blinked, smiling sweetly: “What, has our CEO Xu finally realized that there are people in this world who are not swayed by you?”
Out of twenty-one people, An Yiqing was the only one.
Xu Lingyin wasn’t concerned about her charm; she was genuinely curious.
Not even adding her landlady—what did that mean?
Opening the dialer, Xu Lingyin copied An Yiqing’s number and sent a friend request.
She waited for ten minutes, and there was no movement.
It was three in the morning. An Yiqing had to teach tomorrow. Was she really busy moving right now?
Xu Lingyin thought for a moment and checked the surveillance feed.
The black car drove in. A tall woman quickly walked in, her steps light.
She opened the door, didn’t stop, and walked straight into the room.
The room was not within the surveillance range, so Xu Lingyin couldn’t see inside.
She tilted her head, noticing Yu Sirou’s cheerful smile.
Xu Lingyin: ?
“I said, I thought you’d be attracted to her face, but it turns out you’ve fallen for her character?” Yu Sirou chuckled, covering her mouth.
Xu Lingyin lowered her eyes, looking at the screen content: “No such thing. I just want to see what she’s up to.”
“They say that curiosity about a person means…” Yu Sirou’s eyes curved in a smile, “…the beginning of something.”
Xu Lingyin’s red lips moved, spitting out a disdainful remark: “Towards her? You better not be joking.”
“I hope I’m overthinking it. Ah Yin, I’ll be watching…”
Her best friend’s expression was suggestive, already treating the situation as a foregone conclusion.
Xu Lingyin also smiled: “I’m afraid that by the time the next game is developed, your guess won’t have materialized.”
As the words fell, the sound of a door opening came from the phone.
An Yiqing walked out, carrying two suitcases, one in each hand.
The suitcases were extremely large, and judging by the curve of her hands, they must have been quite heavy.
Yet, the woman’s expression was completely unfazed. She was calm and composed, as if carrying two empty boxes.
A teacher, where did she get such strength?
The woman on the screen went back and forth. Xu Lingyin counted roughly six trips.
An Yiqing didn’t seem to be out of breath at all.
After the person drove away, Xu Lingyin asked, “What does she teach?”
“I heard she’s a P.E. teacher,” Yu Sirou said.
That made sense.
Xu Lingyin pondered it for a moment, then felt it still didn’t make sense.
This woman always wore her hair down, completely unlike her stereotype of a P.E. teacher.
Except for her tall figure.
*
An Yiqing was wide awake this entire night.
After returning, packing up, and taking a shower, she was even more alert.
One would think she had slept for days.
Half-lying on the bed, An Yiqing took out her laptop.
She couldn’t sleep, so she might as well edit videos.
Logging into WeChat, a friend request popped up.
An Yiqing lifted her eyelids and clicked on the list.
After reading the verification message, she rubbed her eyes and leaned in closer.
The three characters “Xu Lingyin” were distinctly clear.
An Yiqing’s palm felt warm, slightly damp with sweat.
Her index finger trembled, and she clicked to approve the request.
The chat page popped up.
Aside from the verification message, there was one new message.
Xu Lingyin transferred ¥30,000 to you.
An Yiqing: ?
If she remembered correctly, she was the renter, and Yu Sirou was the actual landlady.
The person close to the landlady was transferring money to her. What kind of scheme was this?
An Yiqing couldn’t understand it at all. Thinking about her wording, she replied.
Qing: Miss Xu, the rent has already been transferred to Miss Yu. Please check your account.
No sooner had the message been sent than a string of ten question marks was thrown back, filling An Yiqing’s entire screen.
She didn’t count exactly how many, but she felt that Miss Xu’s typing speed was genuinely fast.
Glancing at it, An Yiqing continued to draft a new message.
Before she could finish typing, the other party sent another long string of text.
Xu Lingyin: An Yiqing, what kind of corporate-level understanding do you have? You helped me tonight, and I wanted to thank you, nothing more. I hope you don’t always think the worst of people. That is extremely rude.
