Cohabitation With The Maniacally Gorgeous CEO - Chapter 7
Chapter 7
A sharp gaze stabbed at her, and An Yiqing turned her head.
Xu Lingyin was staring intently at her.
Not knowing what she was thinking, An Yiqing continued to wash the sea bass, reminding her in passing, “Miss Xu, the kitchen smells strongly of food, you should go out and sit down.”
There was no sound of footsteps.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Xu Lingyin standing with her arms crossed, her gaze fixed on the sink.
She was watching her wash vegetables.
This pampered young lady was particularly strange; she had clearly disliked her so much before, not wanting to spare her a glance.
Now, just for helping with a small task, her attitude had done a complete 180.
What exactly was she plotting?
An Yiqing couldn’t figure it out and continued to prepare the fish and seafood.
After a few minutes of silence, Xu Lingyin spoke first: “An Yiqing, when are you planning to move your things back?”
Picking up a plate to hold the prepared fish, An Yiqing said, “Miss Xu, this place is close to the school, and I quite like this kitchen. If you want to eat, I can come over and cook for you, just like today.”
Xu Lingyin’s breath hitched, and her eyebrows knitted together: “An Yiqing, are you holding a grudge?”
“It’s not about holding a grudge. Miss Xu, I hadn’t thought clearly before, which is why I rented this place. Later, I realized it’s not quite suitable for me.” An Yiqing explained tactfully.
Xu Lingyin lowered her arms, frowning deeply. She turned as if to leave, then stopped.
“Coming back and forth is too much trouble,” Xu Lingyin’s temper grew irritable. “If you think moving your things is difficult, I’ll hire someone to do it.”
An Yiqing gave a slight chuckle.
“What are you laughing at?” Xu Lingyin’s tone was unfriendly.
Slowly placing down the shrimp in her hand, An Yiqing arranged the prepared dishes neatly, then looked at Xu Lingyin: “Miss Xu, if I recall correctly, you previously didn’t want anyone renting this place. What made you change your mind?”
She rarely showed such obvious emotion, and to others, her smile looked purely like teasing.
Xu Lingyin’s gaze turned cold: “Yu Sirou had a hard time finding someone for me, and since you seem halfway decent, I’ll reluctantly keep you. What else did you think?”
“I see.” An Yiqing looked at her. “I thought Miss Xu might be lingering on the meal I cooked the other day.”
Xu Lingyin’s eyes darted away for a moment, then looked back, becoming ice-cold, the same oppressive intensity as when they first met.
“Excessive confidence is irritating.”
“Since I’m so irritating, Miss Xu had better keep her distance.”
“You think you can make me keep my distance? If you keep dragging your feet, I’ll directly have people move your things over.”
This Miss Xu was actually a little endearing.
An Yiqing almost agreed.
She smiled, pointed outside, and invited her out.
She was about to cook, and no matter how good the ventilation was, there would still be the smell of cooking oil.
“An Yiqing, I’m waiting for your answer. Tell me after you finish this meal.” Xu Lingyin tossed out that statement, turned, and left.
An Yiqing hummed in acknowledgment and started cooking.
The seafood and sea bass were both steamed, requiring little effort or time. An Yiqing only needed to stir-fry a few vegetables.
In less than half an hour, five or six dishes were on the table.
Xu Lingyin was playing a multiplayer game with a friend, sitting cross-legged on the sofa, her slender fingers flying across the screen.
No wonder her typing speed was so fast.
An Yiqing suddenly understood.
She reminded her to eat, washed her hands thoroughly, took off her apron, and removed the hair tie from her head.
Her long, dark hair fell down.
She was about to go to the cabinet for tableware when she glanced and saw the person on the sofa staring at her.
An Yiqing: ?
Xu Lingyin pretended nothing happened and said casually, “Yu Sirou is coming, get an extra set of bowls and chopsticks.”
An Yiqing silently did as told.
Everything was ready, and An Yiqing walked to the entrance and bent down to change her shoes.
Xu Lingyin didn’t seem to have any intention of inviting her to eat, and An Yiqing wasn’t the type to impose.
It was the most suitable time to leave.
The mechanical victory sound effect played, and Xu Lingyin’s game ended.
An Yiqing heard her call out to her in disbelief.
“What are you doing?”
“Going home.”
An Yiqing turned her head and saw Xu Lingyin’s murderous gaze.
“An Yiqing, I said, are you—”
She didn’t finish her sentence, but An Yiqing knew what she didn’t say probably wasn’t anything nice.
An Yiqing looked up at her: “Miss Xu, you only invited me to cook.”
Not to eat.
Yu Sirou happened to walk in, sensing that the two were about to fight.
She knew Xu Lingyin wanted An Yiqing to stay.
This tense atmosphere meant they definitely hadn’t reached an agreement.
Quickly shielding An Yiqing, Yu Sirou smiled: “Ah Yin, if Miss An doesn’t want to rent, then don’t force her. Don’t worry, I can find someone else for you.”
Seeing that neither of them spoke, Yu Sirou let out a long sigh and continued, “The food smells so good, how can you two stand it? Stop talking business and let’s eat first.”
She pulled An Yiqing, walked quickly to Xu Lingyin, and whispered, “Ah Yin, it’s quite nice for her to come over and cook.”
Xu Lingyin tossed her phone aside, her fox eyes glaring fiercely at the doorway, before getting up to wash her hands and sitting at the table.
“Come and eat, Miss An.” Yu Sirou acted like a mediator.
An Yiqing glanced at Xu Lingyin. Seeing no objection from her, she also went to the kitchen to wash up and joined the table to eat.
…
After eating, An Yiqing helped put the dishes into the dishwasher.
Having tidied up, she was truly ready to leave.
Yu Sirou had something on in the evening and left first.
An Yiqing followed right behind her.
“An Yiqing.” Xu Lingyin called out to her from under the eaves.
Reaching the courtyard gate, An Yiqing turned her head and responded.
“Have you thought about it?”
“Miss Xu, my answer is still the same.”
Xu Lingyin took a step, walking up to her: “I’ll go take a look at the house you’re so reluctant to leave.”
An Yiqing: …
An Yiqing drove, taking Xu Lingyin with her.
Downstairs, a man was sitting on a long bench.
Seeing them approach, he stood up and greeted An Yiqing.
This Teacher Zhang’s audacity, truly…
An Yiqing gave a faint response, bypassed him, and went straight upstairs.
Teacher Zhang called out to her.
With someone else present, An Yiqing had to make things clear: “Teacher Zhang, please don’t come to my home in the future; it makes me very uncomfortable.”
These pursuers always liked to use the pretexts of discussing teaching or caring for a colleague to do this kind of thing.
After An Yiqing spoke, Teacher Zhang repeated the same old excuses.
In short, he refused to leave.
They always believed in the philosophy that “a resolute woman fears a persistent suitor” and “sincerity will prevail,” assuming that as long as they invested enough time, the other person would eventually be moved.
Their thick skin was like a city wall; An Yiqing almost admired their psychological fortitude.
Perhaps she should learn from Xu Lingyin, be more overbearing, and tell the person to scram.
That was a bit difficult for An Yiqing.
However, she wanted to try.
She silently took a deep breath, mentally preparing herself.
Suddenly, Xu Lingyin crossed her arms and squeezed between the two of them.
With her back to Teacher Zhang, Xu Lingyin’s lips drooped: “Who is this? All this annoying chatter.”
“A colleague,” An Yiqing explained.
Xu Lingyin scoffed: “In this day and age, do colleagues also resort to blocking the door?”
She turned around and glared at the man: “Are you pursuing her?”
This was the first time someone had pointed it out to his face, and Teacher Zhang’s face flushed: “Miss, this is between me and Teacher An.”
“An Yiqing’s business is my business. Whether you’re pursuing her or doing something else, talk to me directly.” Xu Lingyin tilted her chin.
Teacher Zhang’s face was like a palette of colors. He moved two steps, past Xu Lingyin, and looked at An Yiqing behind her: “Teacher An, who is this?”
Xu Lingyin sneered: “I’m talking to you, why are you bringing up An Yiqing? Is that your etiquette?”
“Miss…”
Xu Lingyin interrupted him: “If you bother her again, I’ll take a speaker to your Qichuan and broadcast your great deeds. Don’t think I won’t; my temper isn’t as good as An Yiqing’s. Or, do you want me to go now?”
Immediately, Teacher Zhang’s face turned ashen: “That’s… not necessary. I just came to exchange teaching experiences with Teacher An.”
“Teacher Zhang, you teach physics, and I teach physical education. I’m afraid there’s no need for an exchange,” An Yiqing walked next to Xu Lingyin, also trying to make herself sound tougher. “Please stop wasting your time on me.”
“Teacher An…”
“If you don’t scram now, I’m calling the police.” Xu Lingyin raised her voice, her tone turning cold, like an icicle piercing an enemy.
Teacher Zhang was half a head taller than her but was startled. He dared not say anything more and quickly walked away.
Evil people are dealt with by even eviler people.
An Yiqing realized what had happened and pinched her palm.
What evil person? How could Xu Lingyin be an evil person? Teacher Zhang wasn’t even worthy of being compared to her.
“Not going up?” Xu Lingyin opened her mouth slowly.
An Yiqing took her hand and quickly entered the house.
Xu Lingyin wasn’t genuinely there to look at the apartment. She was carrying a bag and immediately sat on the sofa.
Her eyes were fixed straight ahead.
“An Yiqing, that man won’t be the first, nor will he be the last.” Xu Lingyin’s tone was more serious than before. “Setting aside everything else, Zizai Huayuan [Free and Easy Garden, the name of Xu Lingyin’s complex] is highly secure and suitable for you.”
An Yiqing looked at the person in front of her in silence.
Xu Lingyin’s words made sense.
She did need to move.
However, Xu Lingyin’s place might not be suitable either.
Not because the house wasn’t suitable, but because their personalities weren’t suitable.
When her mother came to Ningcheng, she would definitely want to see her home. With Xu Lingyin’s temper, she might not tolerate someone else coming in.
An Yiqing wouldn’t make her mother feel uncomfortable.
As she pondered, Xu Lingyin opened her bag and took out a rental contract, gesturing for An Yiqing to look.
This time it was a proper rental contract, without any superfluous conditions.
The name signed as Party A was Xu Lingyin’s.
“Are you signing the contract on Miss Yu’s behalf?”
“What do you mean ‘on her behalf’?”
“The last contract was signed by Miss Yu.”
“I authorized it.”
So the house belonged to Xu Lingyin.
The rental contract was also normal.
Putting down the contract, An Yiqing thought that perhaps she could negotiate the conditions.
“When my family comes to Ningcheng, they will visit my residence. If you agree, I will rent.”
Xu Lingyin didn’t reply immediately.
An Yiqing added: “They won’t be staying at your place; they’ll just be looking at my living environment.”
“An Yiqing.” Xu Lingyin leaned in slightly, her eyes expressing dissatisfaction. “Do you see me as some kind of wicked woman?”
A breath wafted onto her face. An Yiqing raised her eyelids and shook her head.
“A normal visit is fine; I accept,” Xu Lingyin said. “Just don’t let them mess with anything.”
An Yiqing promised she wouldn’t, and continued, “Do those verbal prohibitions still apply?”
Xu Lingyin: “You really take an inch and go a mile.”
An Yiqing waited quietly for her answer.
“Do as you wish.”
