“Your Highness, please don’t do this.” Murong Ziying hurriedly tried to stop him.
“No need for you to plead! Everyone knows you’re just pretending to be kind—fake tears! The crown prince’s soul has been completely bewitched by you, yet you don’t even consider your own fate. How dare you dream of being with him? Do you want to bring him to ruin? You are the most wicked woman in the world!” Li Yingshui vented all her shame and resentment onto Murong Ziying. If it weren’t for this vixen, the prince would never have treated her this way!
Yi Han’s expression turned dark as he walked toward Li Yingshui with a terrifying air. She was so frightened that she stumbled backward. His eyes held a rage that made it seem like he wanted to devour her whole.
“Guards!” he roared.
A servant, Xiao Zhuzi, immediately rushed in.
“Take this woman away and execute her,” he ordered coldly. Anyone who dared insult Ziying deserved to die—he would not allow her to stay.
Li Yingshui’s legs gave out beneath her in terror. “Your Highness, have mercy…!” She fell to her knees, trembling and sobbing.
“What are you waiting for? Drag her away!” His voice was merciless. He would never tolerate anyone humiliating Ziying, especially right in front of him.
“Wait!” Murong Ziying hadn’t expected him to go this far. She quickly grabbed his arm, pleading, “Your Highness, please calm down! You must not kill her.”
“She deserves to die!” he snapped.
“If it’s because of me, then she doesn’t deserve to die.” Murong Ziying’s voice was sorrowful. “Lady Shui wasn’t wrong—I am an unlucky person, and I should remember that. If Your Highness kills for my sake, won’t that only prove my misfortune true?”
“You…” He clenched his jaw. “You always belittle yourself. Let me say this again—maybe you are unlucky to others, but to me, you are my greatest fortune. Stop twisting my heart like this.” His voice was filled with both pain and frustration.
Why Murong Ziying can’t understand? Why did she lack faith in both herself and him? The crown prince feels frustrated.
Murong Ziying’s eyes were misty. “Your Highness, regardless of everything, please spare Lady Shui. She didn’t mean what she said.” She was afraid of talking too much with him. Even though she wasn’t the modern version of herself, she still feared her heart would waver, that her defenses would break. She couldn’t let that happen—she couldn’t let herself harm him… She kept reminding herself of that.
“Didn’t mean it?” Yi Han’s voice was sharp. “Even if it was unintentional, such words deserve death!”
“No! Your Highness, I don’t want to die! Please, have mercy!” Li Yingshui sobbed desperately, clutching his leg.
Yi Han coldly tried to pull away, but she clung to him with all her strength.
“Let go,” he demanded, furious.
“No! Please don’t kill me! I won’t dare to do it again!” Li Yingshui had never imagined that a few words of anger could bring her to the brink of death.
“There will be a next time?” His anger burned even hotter.
“Your Highness, I beg you as well—please don’t stain your hands with more sins because of me.” Murong Ziying knelt down and pleaded. Li Yingshui was the daughter of Minister Li and the niece of Princess Li—killing her would only bring endless trouble.
Yi Han immediately reached out to help her up. “Why are you kneeling? Get up.”
“I won’t get up unless Your Highness spares her,” she said firmly.
He let out a deep sigh. “Are you threatening me?” Everything he did was for her, yet she didn’t appreciate it.
“Murong Ziying wouldn’t dare, Your Highness” she lowered her head.
“You say that, yet you still insist?” he muttered in frustration. “Fine. Both of you, get up.”
