Creating Anime In A Fantasy World - Chapter 65: The New Movie Premiere
Sam was the child of a southern noble, the son of a count. He was supposed to live a carefree life, but Sam was different. He disliked the endless formalities of the nobility and hated the idea of a lazy, purposeless life.
When he was young, he had hoped to have magical talent and become a mage, but it turned out he lacked the gift.
As the eldest son, he couldn’t leave the family estate to join the military.
The only option left seemed to be becoming an adventurer.
However, even this was something his father refused to accept, considering it a lowly pursuit.
He hoped Sam would inherit the title of count instead.
But Sam didn’t give up. On his sixteenth birthday, he secretly took a sword from one of the guards and left home in pursuit of a more exciting life.
He made his way to the Adventurer’s Guild, where anyone could register to become an adventurer. He successfully joined and began his journey.
His first partner was Joseph, who had also become an adventurer later in life after working in a theater.
The two shared similar goals, and after bonding over their dreams, they became partners on the road of adventure—or at least, that’s how it should have gone…
“Ugh, I’m so bored! Why haven’t we gotten any missions lately? All the monster hunts are so far away, like in Tanzan Town. We’d spend more on travel than we’d earn from the rewards…” Sam complained.
Joseph, already used to this life, shrugged and said, “That’s normal. The Southern Territory is the safest part of the empire. For newbies like us, this is a great place to train. You can’t expect to go fight trolls when you haven’t even mastered swordsmanship. Didn’t the master at the sword school say you have great potential to reach the third rank within a year? I’d love to have your talent.”
“Tch, what’s the point of reaching the third rank if there are no missions? Maybe we should save up and become adventurers in another part of the empire. What about the North? I’ve heard it’s full of dangerous monsters!”
Before Joseph could respond, a commotion arose in the Adventurer’s Guild.
“Hey, there’s a huge crowd heading to the Nosrick Cinema! Is there an event going on?” someone shouted.
“Damn! I just remembered—a new movie is premiering today!” another person exclaimed.
“A new movie?! Oh, crap! They changed the posters at the cinema this morning!”
“Hurry up! Do you think we can still get tickets?!”
In an instant, the entire guild erupted into chaos, resembling the bustling mess of a school cafeteria at lunchtime.
Sam, still confused about the excitement, found himself dragged outside by Joseph.
“Huh? Is there a boss monster or something?” Sam asked, bewildered.
Realizing his partner had never seen a movie, Joseph explained the concept while they ran toward the Nosrick Cinema. The result?
“Tch, I thought it was something important. It’s just a play, right? I’ve seen way too many of those already, and I’m bored of them. You commoners love making a big deal out of nothing…” Sam said dismissively.
Joseph, unfazed by Sam’s attitude, confidently replied, “I knew you’d say that. Don’t worry, movies are nothing like those dull stage plays. You’ll understand once you see it. I promise you won’t be disappointed!”
Soon, they arrived at the cinema. Sam was immediately overwhelmed by the sea of people outside, a sight he had never seen before.
Shocked, he muttered, “Wait… all these people are here for that… ‘movie’? This is insane.”
Though annoyed by Sam’s disdainful tone, Joseph held back his frustration.
He used his old connections at the Nosrick Theater to secure two tickets and dragged Sam inside, ignoring any protests.
As they made their way into the cinema, Joseph noticed that the posters for KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World had been replaced by new ones featuring a movie called Goblin Slayer.
The image showed a heavily armored warrior wielding a longsword, emerging from a dark cave.
The poster immediately captured Joseph’s attention, while Sam, now curious, asked, “Hey, what’s this? It looks interesting.”
“Uh, I’m not sure what this one’s about. Goblin Slayer, huh? Sounds a bit… strange, but I’m sure it’ll be good.”
“Alright, alright. If you say it’s good, I’ll take your word for it. But remember to think about where we’re going next after this! I still think we should head to the North! Just imagine being adventurers in a place full of monsters. Doesn’t that get your blood pumping?”
Ignoring Sam’s constant chatter, Joseph found their seats and sat down.
As the theater filled up, the air buzzed with excited murmurs.
“I heard this one is way darker than KonoSuba,” one adventurer said. “Apparently, a lot of girls at the premiere got so scared they couldn’t handle it.”
“Hah! You said it was girls who got scared, right? Come on, we’re seasoned adventurers. We won’t get scared by a mere movie!” another responded.
“Sure, whatever you say. You’ve never even fought a real monster before. If you start crying, don’t expect me to help.”
“Bah, we’ll see about that!”
Listening to the adventurers’ conversation, Sam rolled his eyes in disdain.
He, too, thought a mere movie could never scare him.
In fact, he didn’t care about movies at all.
Joseph just smiled and shook his head, knowing that many first-timers had the same reaction.
Soon, the lights dimmed, and as the movie began, the once-boisterous theater fell silent, with everyone glued to the screen.
As the characters appeared on the screen, Sam, watching his very first movie, gasped in shock.
“Wait… isn’t that… Lady Daphne?!”
