“Of course! What kind of treasure do you have?”
Zhang Ruibin was quite familiar with Chen Le’an and knew he used to be a technical director. Hearing that he had something to sell, his interest was immediately piqued.
His pharmacy was running low on stock, and he desperately needed to replenish his supply.
“Ginseng!”
The moment Zhang Ruibin heard this, his excitement vanished.
Ginseng was something that everyone was cultivating, but due to the lack of spiritual energy in the world, the quality had drastically declined.
The price was cheap too—just 1,000 yuan per plant for a one-year-old ginseng.
With such low prices, the profit margins were practically nonexistent.
Unless… it was a wild ginseng over ten years old.
But such ginseng was nearly impossible to find. Even professional ginseng hunters who spent all year in the mountains might not dig up a single one.
And even if they did, the major factions would snatch it up immediately.
There was no way something like that would ever make it to a small pharmacy like his.
“Xiao Chen, you know how it is. We’re old friends, so I can offer you 900 yuan per plant, at most!”
Zhang Ruibin said with a sigh.
At this price, after labor and processing costs, he’d barely make any money.
Seeing Zhang Ruibin’s lack of enthusiasm, Chen Le’an didn’t bother explaining.
Instead, he pulled out a ginseng root and casually tossed it over.
Caught off guard, Zhang Ruibin fumbled to catch it.
“Holy… This ginseng’s tendrils are red!”
“This is at least a hundred-year-old ginseng!”
Zhang Ruibin’s eyes widened in shock as he looked at Chen Le’an.
Then, he picked up the ginseng and examined it carefully.
“No doubt about it—this is definitely a hundred-year-old ginseng!”
A delighted smile spread across his face.
“Are you really planning to sell this? With such a rare medicinal herb, why not keep it for yourself? You’re just an ordinary person—it could help you extend your lifespan…”
Before he could finish, Zhang Ruibin suddenly realized something.
He could no longer see through Chen Le’an’s cultivation.
“Sell it. It’s of no use to me now.”
Chen Le’an nodded firmly.
“Xiao Chen, forgive me for asking, but… how did you suddenly…?”
Zhang Ruibin was clearly curious.
“I got fired from my company, my wife left me, and in a fit of rage, I smashed an old family heirloom jar… Turns out, there was a Qi Gathering Pill and this ginseng inside!”
Chen Le’an had already prepared an explanation.
Otherwise, his sudden transformation would inevitably raise suspicion.
“Oh, I see. What a bunch of idiots—how could your company be so blind as to lay you off?”
Zhang Ruibin didn’t ask any more questions.
Though he was envious, everyone had their own stroke of fortune.
“A hundred-year-old ginseng is incredibly rare. How about 1.5 million yuan?”
“Alright, deal!”
Chen Le’an nodded.
The price Zhang Ruibin offered was already quite fair.
After selling the goods, Chen Le’an visited several other pharmacies across the city.
To be safe, he didn’t sell everything at once—attracting the wrong kind of attention wouldn’t be worth the risk.
Unfortunately, the other pharmacies didn’t offer nearly as good a price.
The highest they were willing to pay was 1.2 million.
These middlemen were ruthless!
But Chen Le’an didn’t mind too much—after all, he could get as many of these herbs as he wanted in the future.
The priority now was selling them quickly.
In total, he made 6.9 million.
He didn’t keep all the money in one account, though.
Instead, he spread it across five different cards, with the highest holding 1.5 million and the lowest 1 million.
After selling the medicine, he immediately headed to the mall.
There was still another problem he needed to solve in the other world.
First, he bought himself some clothes.
All his hard-earned money had gone to Bai Fengjiao, and he’d been wearing the same old clothes he bought years ago from a discount app.
Plus, after using a healing spell in his room earlier, his clothes were soaked and uncomfortable.
He walked straight into the most expensive clothing store, gathered a ball of energy in his palm, and revealed his identity as a cultivator.
The salesgirl, who was used to dealing with wealthy customers, immediately perked up and rushed over to serve him.
Chen Le’an picked out an outfit he liked without even glancing at the price.
Swipe the card. Done.
He spent 100,000 on a single set of clothes.
His aura completely mesmerized the salesgirl.
For the first time, Chen Le’an felt the joy of spending money.
Earning money and spending it on himself—what a great feeling!
Maybe getting divorced wasn’t so bad after all.
It felt like freedom.
Next, he headed to the agricultural products section.
Just like people rely on clothes, crops need the right conditions to thrive.
Wearing his 100,000-yuan outfit, he immediately caught the attention of the sales staff.
Several of them rushed over, eager to serve him.
Chen Le’an picked the one who seemed the most experienced.
“I need a ripening agent,” he said directly.
“Sir, right this way. These are our latest products,” the salesgirl introduced.
The prices ranged from 500 to 50,000.
Of course, the cheaper ones weren’t very effective—it would still take a week or two for crops to mature.
That was what most regular farmers used.
The 50,000-yuan one was much better—crops could mature in just three days.
It was mostly used for rare and ornamental fruit trees.
“Do you have anything even faster?”
Chen Le’an frowned.
“Sir, you’re in luck! Our company just developed a brand-new product!”
“It can ripen plants in just one day!”
The salesgirl led him to a display.
Two potted tomato plants were placed on a rotating platform, allowing for a full 360-degree view.
“Sir, take a look. This pot here grew naturally—it’s still green. But the other one was treated with our newest ripening agent just yesterday, and it’s already fully ripe!”
Chen Le’an examined them closely.
Sure enough, the treated one was completely mature.
Technology was amazing!
“We’ve done extensive testing to ensure it works in just one day!”
“But… it is a bit pricey—150,000,” the salesgirl added cautiously, sneaking a glance at him.
The three-day version was only 50,000.
But cutting the time by two more days tripled the price.
150,000! How many hours of hard labor would that take to earn?
“I’ll take it. Right now!”
Chen Le’an didn’t hesitate.
The salesgirl was stunned.
150,000—just like that?
But she quickly snapped out of it, thrilled about the commission she’d make.
“Also, I need some growth enhancers to make the fruit look bigger,” Chen Le’an said.
“Sir, you must be joking. Growth enhancers are strictly regulated! You need proper authorization to buy them. Besides, they only make the fruit look bigger without adding any real nutrition. In fact, they could be harmful if consumed!”
The salesgirl explained.
Chen Le’an frowned.
His spiritual rice was still too small. Even if it ripened faster, the size and weight weren’t enough to pay the rent.
He needed something to make the fruit bigger.
“I want the growth enhancer. Right now.”
“But…”
The salesgirl hesitated.
“Call your manager. I’ll talk to him myself.”
Under Chen Le’an’s powerful presence, the salesgirl obediently made the call and explained the situation to her manager.
