- Chapter 7 - Goodbye Bai Fengjiao
After hastily parting ways with Lao Wan, Chen Le’an returned to his small room.
With a single thought, he filled his storage space with wild herbs.
Then, in the blink of an eye, he returned to the Post-Dharma ending world.
By now, he had already reached the sixth level of Qi Refining.
In a second-tier city like Yudu, that was pretty much the peak—at least on the surface.
There was no longer a need for him to stay hidden in a small inn, constantly on edge and carefully selling off his goods bit by bit.
Over the past few days, he had been traveling back and forth between the spirit energy world, bringing back dozens of high-value medicinal herbs like ginseng and polygonum multiflorum.
Without wasting time, Chen Le’an contacted Zhang Ruibin.
The moment he laid out the herbs in front of Zhang Ruibin, the man’s jaw nearly hit the floor.
Chen Le’an didn’t bother explaining. He simply packed them up and sold them off.
Zhang Ruibin, knowing better than to ask unnecessary questions, directly handed over the money and took the goods.
Next, Chen Le’an called Manager Pang.
“Master, what can I do for you this time?” Manager Pang’s voice was filled with flattery.
“I want to buy a small pharmaceutical factory. Also, get me the best bulletproof vests, bulletproof helmets, and grenades you can find,” Chen Le’an said.
The factory was for his future research into alchemical pill formulas.
As for the bulletproof gear and grenades? Better safe than sorry.
He had no idea how strong a Foundation Establishment cultivator was, but he was certain that a Qi Refining cultivator wouldn’t survive a grenade blast.
The smile on Manager Pang’s face stiffened.
“…Master, are you joking?” he asked hesitantly.
“When have I ever joked with you?” Chen Le’an replied flatly.
“Master, I really don’t deal in firearms…” Manager Pang grimaced.
“I’ll pay 100,000 per grenade. As many as you can get.”
“…What? 100,000?!”
Manager Pang’s voice shot up an octave.
Even though firearms were tightly controlled in the Post-Dharma world, grenades could still be found on the black market for just a few thousand each. But this man was offering ten times that amount!
A 2,000% profit margin!
“Master, don’t worry! Forget grenades—I’ll even get you a whole truck of TNT if you want!” Manager Pang sounded like he’d just won the lottery.
Having money really was a wonderful thing.
Chen Le’an sighed to himself.
Then, he hailed a cab and headed to his old home.
There were still some experimental data and drafts related to alchemy that he hadn’t taken with him.
Those were his hard-earned research notes from when he worked as a technical supervisor.
But as he stood in front of the familiar doorway, he suddenly felt like a stranger.
This was the house he had worked tirelessly to buy, all so he could marry Bai Fengjiao.
At the time, he had even been foolish enough to put her name on the deed.
Suddenly, a rhythmic panting sound reached his ears.
Chen Le’an’s expression darkened.
In broad daylight? Seriously? Couldn’t they at least hold back a little?
His gaze shifted to a car parked near the corner.
It was a familiar vehicle—his former boss’s car, Liu Feng. A mere second-level Qi Refining cultivator.
The more he thought about it, the angrier he became. If he let this slide, it would only fester inside him!
This was a test of his Dao heart!
And he was in no mood to tolerate it.
With a single kick, Chen Le’an sent the security door flying inward, crashing into the house with a thunderous boom.
Dust and debris filled the air.
Without hesitation, he stepped inside, heading straight to the study room.
Calling it a study was a bit of an exaggeration—it was just a tiny room, a few square meters at most.
It was also where Chen Le’an used to sleep because Bai Fengjiao hadn’t let him share her bed in a long time.
Chen Le’an quickly gathered his things, ready to leave.
Just then, Liu Feng and Bai Fengjiao stumbled out of the bedroom—Bai Fengjiao hastily wrapped in a bedsheet, while Liu Feng was only in his pants.
“Chen Le’an?! It’s you? What the hell are you doing here?”
Bai Fengjiao was the first to recognize him. She stood there, her brows furrowed tightly, eyes burning with anger. Her lips pressed into a thin, hard line, revealing her fury and frustration. Her fists clenched so tightly that her knuckles turned white, as if she was barely holding herself back from lashing out.
“I just came to grab a few things.”
Chen Le’an replied calmly, without the slightest hint of his former submissiveness.
Bai Fengjiao was caught off guard.
In the past, all it took was a little anger from her, and Chen Le’an would immediately back down, lowering himself to appease her.
Realizing this, she only grew angrier.
“How could you do this?!”
She pointed at the shattered door.
“I paid for that door. If I want to kick it down, I’ll kick it down.”
Chen Le’an was starting to feel like Bai Fengjiao had serious cognitive issues.
“You—”
Bai Fengjiao was momentarily speechless.
“If anything, I should be asking you—what the hell are you and Liu Feng doing here?”
Chen Le’an pointed at Liu Feng.
“We’re divorced. I can do whatever I want. It’s none of your business!”
Bai Fengjiao spat through gritted teeth.
“Oh? We’re divorced, yet he still hasn’t married you? And even for this kind of thing, you two have to use my house?”
Chen Le’an smirked.
“How cheap can you get?”
“You—!”
Bai Fengjiao was once again at a loss for words.
“Jiaojiao choosing to stay here is a privilege for you!”
Liu Feng cut in arrogantly.
“She picked me over you, a worthless loser. That should tell you everything.”
Then, with a sneer, he added, “But you—barging in like this and scaring me—what if something happens to my body? How are you going to compensate me?”
He grinned smugly, confident that he had Chen Le’an cornered.
To him, Chen Le’an was just a regular person, while he—he was a mighty second-level Qi Refining cultivator.
Crushing Chen Le’an would be effortless.
And it was the perfect chance to show off in front of Bai Fengjiao, to make up for his… shortcomings elsewhere.
“Compensation? You need money for some enhancement pills?”
Chen Le’an shot back mercilessly.
With his sixth-level Qi Refining cultivation, he had already heard everything that had been going on inside the room.
“You bastard!”
Liu Feng’s face twisted in rage as he unleashed his Qi Refining second-level aura.
A sudden gust of wind swept through the room, making Chen Le’an’s clothes ripple violently.
“Today, I’ll show you the difference between a cultivator and a mere mortal!”
Liu Feng roared, throwing a punch.
But before his fist could even get close—
Whoosh!
Chen Le’an’s figure blurred—moving like a phantom—
Bang!
A single kick.
Precise. Brutal. Unstoppable.
Liu Feng’s face exploded in pain as his nose cracked with a sickening snap—
Four pearly-white teeth spun through the air, trailing a fine mist of bl00d, before landing on the floor with a dull plop.
Liu Feng’s body flew backward like a broken kite, crashing to the ground in a cloud of dust.
Bai Fengjiao stood frozen, completely stunned.
For several seconds, she didn’t move, her mind struggling to process what had just happened.
Then, with a panicked shriek, she scrambled to Liu Feng’s side, frantically helping him up.
Her eyes were filled with a mixture of fear and fury.
“H-He caught me off guard! I wasn’t expecting it! Otherwise, I… I would’ve dodged!”
Liu Feng stammered, struggling to speak through the gaping hole in his mouth where his teeth used to be.
His voice now whistled slightly, like air leaking from broken bellows.
It was almost look very funny.
“CHEN LE’AN! You despicable, shameless coward! How dare you ambush him?!”
Bai Fengjiao exploded like a firecracker—furious beyond words.
At that moment, she didn’t even look like a woman anymore.
She looked like a rage-filled, screeching pig.
