Daily Survival After Inheriting a Harem (GL) - Chapter 6.1
Soon, Yan Wan led the Human envoy in.
“Father! Mother! Your child is unfilial! You’re going to bury your child! May we be a family again in the next life! Ahhhhhhh, help me, I’m scared to death!”
The wailing grew from distant to near, and Qiu Qi’s ears were especially sensitive. By the time the envoy cried his way right in front of her, she felt her head was about to be rattled senseless.
“Stop! Quiet!” She held up a hand in front of her. “Who said I was going to kill you?”
The young man, with snot all over his face, looked at Qiu Qi with tear-filled eyes, then immediately trembled and lowered his head again. “Woo… I was wrong, Great Beast God, please spare my dog life.”
“Ugh, still someone who doesn’t understand human speech,” Qiu Qi exhaled slowly, putting both hands on her hips.
The envoy saw her stance and panicked even more, opening his mouth and looking like he was about to wail again. Pei Yuqing, quick as a flash, shoved the cloth she had just used to wipe Qiu Qi’s hands into his mouth. “My Lord wants you to be quiet. Can you do that?”
“Mmm—mm-hmm!”
Seeing that the man was finally stable, Qiu Qi walked over and crouched in front of the envoy, meeting his kneeling gaze. “Is your mind clear now? Can you understand what I’m saying?”
“Mm-hmm!”
“That’s good then.” Qiu Qi snapped her fingers behind her. Pei Yuqing then handed over the letter she had just written. With a delicate envelope, the scribbled writing actually looked quite presentable. Qiu Qi took it and stuffed the letter into the envoy’s lapel. “Take this letter back and show it to your leader. Can you do that?”
“Mmm—mm-hmm!”
“If you can, nod twice. If not, shake your head.”
The envoy nodded frantically, so hard it looked like his neck might snap off at any second.
“Okay, done.” Qiu Qi clapped her hands and stood up, then turned to Yan Wan. “Butler, see the guest out.”
Yan Wan nodded in agreement, seemingly not at all curious about the letter’s contents. She picked up the envoy by the neck with one hand, carrying him out like a small chicken.
Outside the door, the envoy finally remembered to take the ink-bitter cloth out of his mouth. He trembled, darting a sidelong glance at the eerie old woman walking beside him with no footsteps. “You’re not going to wait until I’m outside, then suddenly stab me from behind, are you?”
Yan Wan looked straight ahead. “My Lord only instructed me to see you to the doorstep.”
Hearing her reply, the envoy panicked even more. “No way… are you really going to kill me?”
Sending him to the doorstep—doesn’t that mean sending him to his death at the doorstep?!
Sure enough, what the elders said was right: no envoy who comes to the Beast Race ever has a good end. If it weren’t for the Saintess specifically naming him, there’s no way he would have gotten involved in this mess.
“Please, spare me! I’ll give you anything you want!”
Hearing this, Yan Wan reacted, turning to face him. “Money. I like money.”
“Okay! Okay, okay, okay! I’ll give you everything I have on me!”
With that, the envoy began pulling things out. First, a tattered money pouch, then a low-quality jade pendant. Seeing Yan Wan’s unchanging grim expression, he panicked and started taking off his clothes.
“This set of clothes is an official uniform bestowed by the Saintess! The embroidery is made with real gold thread, and the gems on this hat…”
“Hurry up,” Yan Wan interrupted his nonsense. “Get undressed and then get going. I’m busy preparing lunch.”
“Okay, okay…” The envoy quickly stripped down to just his shorts, shivering as he stood bare-armed at the doorway.
“Hmm, remember to deliver the letter properly.” Yan Wan methodically picked out some valuable items from the pile of “junk.” “Goodbye, I won’t see you off.”
“Thank you, Granny! You’re my savior!” The envoy wiped his nose and ran off without looking back.
“Come back,” Yan Wan called out in a low voice.
“I… Is there anything else?”
“Call me ‘Sister.'”
“Okay, okay, okay! Thank you, Sister! Thank you, beautiful lady! I will always remember your great kindness!”
“Get lost.”

Finally, with the study key in hand, Qiu Qi hurried to the study.
Most of the books here were tributes from the Human race, with the earliest ones dating back thousands of years.
Following the original owner’s memories, Qiu Qi walked to the innermost shelf, stopping at the second to last row. Standing on tiptoes, she painstakingly pulled out a dusty, thick book from the top shelf.
“Hmph! Cough, cough… Ptooey, ptooey, ptooey.”
Blowing away the dust from the cover, Qiu Qi finally saw the book’s title: “Five Elemental Spirit Arts.”
First, she took out the profound ice ring key hidden inside, then Qiu Qi began to flip through the book. The spirit arts mentioned inside seemed to be the kind cultivated by the Elves and Humans.
As the book’s title suggested, the Five Elemental Spirit Arts were based on the five elements of metal, wood, water, fire, and earth, with incantations as a medium for casting spells.
The first Human to be discovered capable of using spirit arts was a descendant born from a royal family member and an Elf. They were also the first person capable of using all five elemental spirit arts.
Subsequently, all descendants from this royal child inherited their talent. Ordinary people would generally only master one elemental spirit art, while those with higher comprehension might learn two or three. An all-rounder spiritualist like the Saintess hadn’t appeared in over a hundred years, which was why the current Human race worshipped her like a god.
Qiu Qi, with her years of experience in understanding technical manuals, quickly grasped the spirit arts.
First, you needed to have Elven bl00d. Second, you just needed to memorize incantations and practice diligently. However, this primarily depended on bloodline. Many people’s efforts for ten years couldn’t compare to the power of someone with pure bloodline simply saying, “Balala Little Fairy, full body transformation.”
“Tsk, that’s it?” Qiu Qi thought that since it was hidden so deeply, it would at least be some martial arts secret comparable to the Eighteen Dragon Subduing Palms. But it was, at best, a collection of spells.
Her eyes glanced at the water glass on the table. Qiu Qi thought, “Might as well try?”
“%&%…&%” As soon as the words left her lips, the water in the glass soared into the air, forming a column of water that flew in the direction of Qiu Qi’s finger.
“Wow? It really works?” Qiu Qi’s eyes widened. She hadn’t found it strange when Pei Yuqing almost froze her to death last night, but the fresh joy of using spirit arts herself now welled up.
She flipped a few pages back, picked a more difficult one, and chanted again, “%…ï¿¥%&&%*ï¿¥&”
After reciting, she moved her thoughts, controlling the water column suspended in the air to rise, transform into an arrowhead shape, and then with a slight movement of her index finger, pointed at the floor. The water arrowhead rapidly accelerated and plunged into the floor with a “bang,” splashing water everywhere, leaving only a small pit about half a knuckle deep on the ground.
Although the damage was minimal, Qiu Qi was very satisfied. She didn’t expect a few casual chants to have such a significant effect.
After playing enough, Qiu Qi suddenly remembered an important matter—why could she, a beast-person, use spirit arts?
Struggling to search through the original owner’s chaotic memories, Qiu Qi soon found the reason.
The original owner had always been a force of nature, slaying gods and obstructing buddhas. Not to mention how many beast-persons it had harmed, it had also taken the lives of many from other races. Even powerful elves who could single-handedly take on an army had been killed by it, no less than ten of them.
Humans had to pray to gods and buddhas for more inherited talent, but Qiu Qi didn’t need to. After all, the original owner’s method of acquiring spiritual energy was comparable to outright devouring it, with an absorption rate of almost one hundred percent.
And the reason the original owner hadn’t bothered to read this book was simply because it looked down on it. After all, it was already an unbeatable force in the world, so why waste time memorizing this stuff?
Furthermore, the original owner hated reading and writing above all else.
That creature was truly ignorant, but Qiu Qi was not.
She happily hugged the book. “I’m definitely going to memorize this book!”
Qiu Qi meticulously wiped “Five Elemental Spirit Arts” clean from top to bottom, then placed it prominently on the desk alongside the “World Weapons Compendium” she had brought with her.
