Damn It! The Main Shou Turned Me Gay! (Showbiz) - Chapter 12
Chapter 12: Disgusting!
“Uncle?!”
“Director Qi, he’s your uncle?!!”
“President Fang is your uncle?!”
Qi Wenyan was the first to blurt out a shocked response. Right after, Director Li followed with a stunned question, and then the assistant director let out a shrill wail like a bomb had just dropped.
Director Li looked confused and turned to Qi Wenyan, who looked just as baffled: “Director Qi?”
Qi Wenyan opened his mouth, about to explain, but Fang Ruxu reacted first.
He narrowed his eyes and looked at Chu Zhiyu, who was standing in his way, his tone low and pressing:
“If you really care about him, then tell me what exactly he’s been hiding from me that made him end up like this.”
Chu Zhiyu just smiled gently, his posture unmoving and unyielding.
Seeing how protective he was, Fang Ruxu suddenly laughed and started sowing discord:
“You care so much about him, yet he didn’t even tell you I’m his uncle.”
The tension in the room thickened palpably. The assistant director, sensing an imminent explosion, tried to intervene weakly:
“President Fang, Xiao Chu, since we all care about Director Qi… maybe we could all just, uh, sit down and talk this out?”
For some reason, the assistant director couldn’t help but feel like this scene was straight out of a soap opera—a dramatic family feud in a wealthy estate.
Fang Ruxu barked coldly, “This is a family matter between me and Xiao Yan. Outsiders don’t need to meddle.”
Outsiders.
Chu Zhiyu’s eyes flickered. Then he suddenly said, “That’s where you’re wrong, Mr. Fang.”
Fang Ruxu looked at him in displeasure.
Chu Zhiyu remained calm. “Director Qi and I have only known each other for less than a month. It’s perfectly normal for him to keep some personal matters to himself. In fact, it just shows his strong sense of privacy. But of course, there’s another possibility—”
He smiled faintly, his next words clearly provocative:
“Maybe, in Director Qi’s heart, you’re not that important. Not worth talking to me about. What do you think?”
Whether that offended Fang Ruxu wasn’t clear, but it certainly startled the poor assistant director.
He covered his pale face and inched toward the door, ready to bolt and call for backup if things turned physical.
Was this really happening? Was their production about to hit the trending topics with “Investor and Male Lead Come to Blows”?!
Finally, Qi Wenyan snapped out of his shock.
He looked half-doubtful, half-incredulous as he stared at Fang Ruxu’s proud face: “You’re really my uncle?!”
Fang Ruxu’s expression was cold: “Disappointed? Sorry to break it to you, Young Master Qi, but I’m your mother’s real brother.”
Qi Wenyan went quiet for a second. “Hey, keep it civil. No need to start swearing.”
Fang Ruxu: “??!”
“So…” Qi Wenyan thought for a moment, then muttered as if a realization struck him: “So you really did watch me grow up…”
He had been expecting a cute, sweet little fan who grew up watching his dramas—not a grumpy old relative who literally watched him grow up!
Almost like a trigger had been flipped, all the little suspicious clues he had ignored before suddenly rushed into his mind at once:
“Young Master!”
“Young Master Qi!”
“Don’t tell me you’re the one who did this, sir?”
Xu Du’s voice practically echoed in his head.
And Qi Wenyan—the actual young master—had only now realized:
Holy crap. That guy wasn’t joking.
He really was a young master.
Then what about his empty bank account?
His balance was so pathetic, even Alipay coupons looked like they had more value than his card.
Fang Ruxu impatiently knocked on the table: “What, finally realizing you’ve ignored your poor uncle for twenty-three years?”
Qi Wenyan’s fingers itched, but he forced a bright smile: “Uncle, huh.”
Since the man was an investor, he could tolerate it. But now? Things were different.
Qi Wenyan smiled sweetly and said, “Has no one ever told you what a crappy personality you have?”
To his surprise, Fang Ruxu genuinely paused to think. “No, not really.”
Well of course not—who in his company would dare insult their boss to his face?
Qi Wenyan’s smile grew wider. “Well, congrats. You’ve finally heard it.”
Before Fang Ruxu could even react, Qi Wenyan launched into a barrage:
“President Fang, you really went out of your way just to come all this way and insult me? Anyone watching might think you’re so bored from your perfect life that you came here just to be scolded.”
He wasn’t going to just stand there and take it—not with his temperament.
Qi Wenyan pulled Chu Zhiyu behind him protectively and snapped, “And what’s your problem with Xiao Chu, huh? He’s the male lead of our drama! Do you understand what a male lead is?”
“Do you know why the industry is flooded with garbage content? Because investors like you always think they know everything and end up force-feeding the audience crap!”
The bamboo room fell deadly silent. You could hear a pin drop.
Fang Ruxu’s fingers twitched with rage as he pointed furiously at Qi Wenyan: “Aren’t you afraid I’ll pull the plug and withdraw funding?!”
Qi Wenyan raised an eyebrow like an old fox: “Weren’t you just asking me to acknowledge you as my uncle? Now you’re suddenly back to investor mode?”
He wasn’t stupid. If Fang Ruxu had put up with all those rejections just to meet him, it meant he needed something—badly. In that case, would he really dare to withdraw?
Sure enough, Fang Ruxu was left speechless, like he’d swallowed a fly. He glared at Qi Wenyan and ground out:
“Fine. You recognize me as your uncle now? Then come home with me. I checked, the script for ‘Lonely Leaning’ is basically done—you don’t need to be here with the crew anymore.”
Qi Wenyan immediately snapped, “No way!”
Fang Ruxu narrowed his eyes at Chu Zhiyu: “Is it because of him?”
He gave Chu Zhiyu a once-over, then scoffed:
“Your taste is really that bad now? Besides his face, what else does this kid even have that makes him worth staying behind for?”
Qi Wenyan was offended. How dare this man reduce everything to something so crude and dirty?
He raised his voice righteously: “Disgusting!!”
Fang Ruxu: “?”
Qi Wenyan continued, “He’s a promising young actor I’m personally mentoring! Xiao Chu respects me like a big brother! How could you twist such a pure relationship like that?!”
Chu Zhiyu added calmly, “Director Qi is a very serious and loyal person when it comes to relationships. He’s definitely not as impulsive as you seem to think.”
Fang Ruxu snorted with laughter: “Great. So you’ve grown wings and now you’re teaming up with your little boy toy against your own family?”
That look in the boy’s eyes—he didn’t believe for a second that Chu Zhiyu was “just” respectful.
Qi Wenyan sighed with a frown. Truly, when you’re rotten inside, you see rot in everything. People like Fang Ruxu, soaked in the darkness of the business world, would never understand his honest and good heart.
Seeing that things had finally cooled off, Director Li figured the drama was over and stepped in:
“Well, since we’re all family now, President Fang, you’re welcome to visit Director Qi anytime. But the afternoon shoot is about to start. If you don’t mind, I’ll have Xiao Lu show you around the set?”
The assistant director—surname Lu, full name Lu Ren—felt his soul leave his body. That was NOT what I meant by a rescue look, Director Li!
Qi Wenyan blinked. Who’s Xiao Lu?
Then he locked eyes with the assistant director’s despairing gaze.
Qi Wenyan: “…Oh. It’s you.”
Thankfully, Fang Ruxu had a sliver of investor decency left when he wasn’t raging.
He waved his hand, “No need. I’m flying overseas tonight. I just wanted a quick word with your Director Qi.”
The assistant director let out a breath of pure relief and shot Qi Wenyan a look of sincere gratitude and admiration.
Director Li nodded, “Then we won’t disturb your catch-up. Oh right—Xiao Chu, it’s about time. Come with me to the set?”
But Chu Zhiyu didn’t move. He looked at Qi Wenyan, clearly waiting for his word before leaving.
Qi Wenyan thought for a second and patted his shoulder reassuringly: “It’s fine. Don’t delay filming. If we fall behind schedule, President Fang will come yell at me again. I’ll find you after I’m done here.”
Chu Zhiyu gave a low “Mm,” neatly tucking away all emotions, then smiled that familiar obedient smile:
“Okay. I’ll wait for you on set.”
He had only changed his costume and hadn’t taken off the wig, so his long hair was still on.
Qi Wenyan tousled his hair bun and patted his head. “Go on, go on!”
Fang Ruxu looked like the whole scene was stabbing his eyeballs. He opened his mouth, ready to spit venom again, but—
“Uncle,” Qi Wenyan cut in sharply.
Fang Ruxu instantly shut up, holding back his temper as he looked at his nephew, waiting for more nonsense.
Qi Wenyan said sincerely, “Honestly? I had a car accident recently. Hit my head. Still haven’t fully recovered.”
So if there’s any grudge or vendetta… please don’t aim it at the current him! He’s innocent!
But at the word “car accident,” Fang Ruxu’s entire demeanor changed.
Like a firecracker that had been quietly smoldering, he exploded.
“A car accident?! What car accident?! Where are you hurt?!”
His voice shot up in volume until Qi Wenyan’s ears buzzed again.
Fang Ruxu stepped forward, reaching out to touch him but hesitating—unsure where he could even start.
Qi Wenyan, seeing this rare display of concern, actually started to feel a little guilty.
But the guilt evaporated with Fang Ruxu’s very next line:
His eyes scanned Qi Wenyan top to bottom. The fact that he was healthy enough to work on set and keep a pretty boy around meant he had mostly recovered.
Still worried deep down, Fang Ruxu remained stubborn and said:
“If your parents find out and give you a beating, don’t expect me to save you!”
Qi Wenyan squinted, picking up the real meaning behind those words. If he did have to go home one day, he’d definitely drag this annoying uncle along for cover.
He nodded half-heartedly, acknowledging it.
Fang Ruxu grew irritated again. He sneered darkly, “I don’t care if your brain’s broken or not, but don’t tell me you haven’t realized that kid—Chu—is clearly after something. He’s almost twenty! Not twelve!”
But Qi Wenyan just lifted his gaze calmly and replied,
“Of course I know.”
