Damn It! The Main Shou Turned Me Gay! (Showbiz) - Chapter 17
Chapter 17: Cohabitation
The date quickly turned to the 20th.
As they stepped out of the high-speed rail station, the wind already carried the sweltering breath of summer.
After a month, Qi Wenyan had returned to Jiangcheng—
The city listed as his hometown on his ID.
Though to him now, it no longer carried a strong sense of belonging.
The sun was so bright it made it hard to keep his eyes open. Chu Zhiyu thoughtfully held up a parasol, walking closely beside Qi Wenyan, using the excuse of shade to naturally stick close.
Qi Wenyan scrolled through the ride-hailing app. “Where are you headed, Xiao Chu? I’m calling a car anyway—want me to drop you off somewhere?”
Even with some pay now, the main character shou often still found himself in financially awkward situations due to all kinds of reasons.
So of course he had to help him out with daily life too!
Only that way could he eliminate all the triggers that might cause Xiao Chu to turn dark!
Chu Zhiyu’s eyes sparkled with amusement. He opened his mouth, just about to answer, when suddenly a loud, excited voice called out from the side—
“Yo! Isn’t that Chu-ge?!”
Both Qi Wenyan and Chu Zhiyu turned around. The moment the latter recognized the person, a clear flash of disgust crossed his eyes.
He looked over coldly without saying a word and silently pulled Qi Wenyan behind him.
Zhu Mao studied the young master’s actions with interest.
The person hidden under the parasol had a tall, lean figure and fair skin. Just from the outline alone, he looked like a real catch.
No wonder he could catch this young master’s eye.
Realizing Zhu Mao was eyeing the person behind him, Chu Zhiyu’s expression turned even colder.
He narrowed his eyes and gave Zhu Mao a mocking smile completely different from the usual sweet expressions he used with Qi Wenyan.
“Your broken arm healed already?”
Zhu Mao’s face froze—he seemed to remember some rather painful memory.
Chu Zhiyu couldn’t even be bothered to give him another glance. He grabbed Qi Wenyan and was about to leave.
But just then, the shameless man suddenly reached out to stop them!
Zhu Mao flinched under Chu Zhiyu’s glare, but his curiosity and jealousy were too overwhelming for him to back down so easily.
Sure, his family wasn’t on Chu Zhiyu’s level, but they were still a well-known clan.
Besides, their families were technically related by marriage. No matter how crazy Chu Zhiyu acted last time, all he did was rough him up a little.
It’s not like he tried to kill him!
But things didn’t go as Zhu Mao expected.
The moment his hand reached out, Chu Zhiyu lost all patience and moved—
With one swift twist, he seized Zhu Mao’s wrist, bent it backward, and instantly drew a pained scream that attracted the attention of passersby.
“!”
Qi Wenyan jumped in surprise, but he reacted quickly—pressing down both of their baseball caps in one smooth motion.
Once their faces were safely hidden, he tugged his mask tighter, and thoughtfully adjusted Chu Zhiyu’s mask as well.
Zhu Mao: “……”
He couldn’t even bring himself to scream anymore. Furious, he shouted, “What the hell is this?!”
Aren’t they the ones embarrassing themselves?!
Why are they hiding their faces?!
He hadn’t even gotten the chance to cover his!
Qi Wenyan ignored him and patted Chu Zhiyu’s arm, whispering, “Let’s go to the side. Too easy to get caught on camera here.”
Chu Zhiyu’s hand paused slightly around Zhu Mao’s wrist. A flicker of panic passed through his eyes, and he nodded quickly.
Once Qi Wenyan confirmed his emotional state was okay, he turned and looked directly at Zhu Mao.
Zhu Mao: “!!!”
Qi Wenyan gave a breezy, almost ethereal smile—
And snarled coldly, “Move your ass into that alley over there before we’re forced to do something you’ll regret. Got it?”
But Zhu Mao just kept his gaze glued to Qi Wenyan, as if entranced. He nodded vaguely and shuffled toward the alley in slow motion.
Chu Zhiyu’s expression darkened as irritation bubbled up inside him—but he didn’t dare act out too much and cause trouble for Qi Wenyan, so he held himself back with clenched teeth.
That bastard… how dare he look at Qi-ge like that?!
The very next second, Qi Wenyan tilted the parasol, using it to hide their movements as he grabbed Zhu Mao’s arm in a lock and twisted—
“Ah! Mmph—”
The scream was cut short when Qi Wenyan gently tapped the parasol handle against Zhu Mao’s face, smiling faintly:
“Didn’t you hear me the first time?”
Zhu Mao broke out in a cold sweat. Who would’ve guessed this gentle, elegant beauty could be so ruthless!
Inside the alley, Qi Wenyan glanced around to make sure there were no reporters or sneaky cameras before finally setting the umbrella down beside him.
He didn’t bother asking Zhu Mao anything and immediately started checking Chu Zhiyu from head to toe. Still uneasy, he asked:
“He didn’t lay a hand on you, did he?”
Chu Zhiyu blinked in surprise and shook his head.
Qi Wenyan huffed at Zhu Mao, “Good. If he did, I wouldn’t let this slide so easily today.”
Chu Zhiyu hesitated for a moment, then couldn’t help but quietly ask:
“Qi-ge… aren’t you afraid of getting dragged into trouble? What if I was the one who started it… wouldn’t you get caught up in it too?”
Qi Wenyan looked at him sharply, almost offended.
He sighed and said seriously, “Xiao Chu, didn’t I already tell you? We’re friends, we’re bros! Your business is my business! This guy picked a fight with you—how could I not step in?”
“And besides—”
He glanced at the trembling Zhu Mao: “That guy just looks like a scumbag.”
Their little Xiao Chu was a sweet, innocent protagonist shou who clearly had a rough childhood. The fact that he turned out this well was already impressive.
He was so considerate—what kind of trouble could he possibly cause?
This guy was obviously just some jealous background cannon fodder trying to mess with the protagonist!
Branded as “not a good person,” Zhu Mao looked heartbroken at the two in front of him—one his old crush, and the other a cold beauty who’d just beaten him up:
How could they say that about him?!
Chu Zhiyu lowered his gaze and happened to meet Qi Wenyan’s sincere, unguarded eyes.
A moment later, he suddenly smiled and drawled playfully, “Qi-ge’s right. He is a bad guy.”
Qi Wenyan nodded in satisfaction and finally looked back at Zhu Mao. “So? What did you want from Xiao Chu?”
Zhu Mao had never seen Chu Zhiyu act like this toward anyone. He stared in shock, mouth agape.
But his astonishment soon turned into burning jealousy and… lustful desire.
So the young master was into guys—
Then why wouldn’t he sleep with him?
He’d rejected him so coldly back then, yet now he was all soft for someone else…
Zhu Mao’s eyes roamed Qi Wenyan’s figure with an odd, unreadable expression.
He chose to back down. “I admit, Chu-ge and I had a little falling out in the past, but that’s long gone. I just happened to see him today and wanted to say hi. I only stopped you guys because—tomorrow, the prestigious Qi family is throwing a birthday banquet for their eldest son at the Mingdu Hotel. Practically everyone in Jiangcheng who’s anyone will be there. Chu-ge, are you going?”
Chu Zhiyu pressed his lips together, ready to explain his background—
But Qi Wenyan suddenly gawked and pointed at Zhu Mao.
“I knew it! You’re totally lusting after Xiao Chu’s body! So what if it’s a banquet? If Xiao Chu wants to go, he can go! He doesn’t need you to invite him!”
Sure, he didn’t know exactly how rich this screenwriter Qi’s family was,
But this was his own birthday party!
Even if it was a “meet-and-greet” version for matchmaking purposes, the Qi surname still came first!
And this creepy loser thought he had any right to dangle it in front of Xiao Chu like bait?!
Zhu Mao got ruthlessly scolded—and annoyingly, everything Qi Wenyan said actually made sense.
Swallowing the insult, Zhu Mao forced a bitter smile. “Fine, guess today’s just not my lucky day. I’ve passed on the message. I won’t keep interrupting your little lovers’ moment.”
He fancied himself a young master too. Normally, a mere wave of his hand would summon a crowd of willing lovers.
And yet here he was, still hung up on Chu Zhiyu.
But as he watched the two walk away, his eyes slowly shifted from Chu Zhiyu to the slender waist of the man beside him.
An unfamiliar face.
He’d heard this Qi young master had recently lost his mind and joined the entertainment industry. Must’ve met this guy there.
Chu Zhiyu, the legitimate heir of the Chu family—he couldn’t touch.
But some unknown little actor with no background or fame?
He could.
Zhu Mao sneered, dusted off his wrinkled clothes, and flexed his aching wrist with a dark expression.
Back at the upscale villa in Huan Zhuyuan, Qi Wenyan was still fuming.
“That guy seriously had the nerve to harass you, Xiao Chu? What, does he think the whole world bends over for filthy money?!”
After blurting it out, Qi Wenyan realized it sounded a bit off, so he corrected himself:
“Not that money’s bad! But still—this whole sugar daddy nonsense is disgusting!”
After all, money wasn’t the issue. The problem was those gross people behind it.
He liked money too! He could easily fall for it himself.
Especially since next month’s utility bill and that mysterious massive credit card charge were still chasing him.
He used the opportunity to extend the serious talk a bit.
“So Xiao Chu, you must never give in to those types of people. Don’t ever take that shady route. If anything happens, just tell me—I’ll help you, okay?”
Chu Zhiyu nodded obediently.
Since they were only staying in Jiangcheng for a few days, Qi Wenyan simply invited Chu Zhiyu to stay at his place.
It saved the protagonist shou some lodging costs and kept the cannon fodder wolves at bay.
Two birds, one stone!
Qi Wenyan felt like a genius.
Chu Zhiyu changed into slippers and opened the fridge in the kitchen.
As expected—completely empty.
Hearing the sound, Qi Wenyan walked in from the foyer, scratching his nose in embarrassment. “Ahem, haven’t been home much, so I cleared it out.”
To check the fridge, Qi Wenyan naturally leaned in closer to Chu Zhiyu.
Unknowingly, the distance between them had shrunk to almost nothing.
Then suddenly, Chu Zhiyu turned around without warning. “Qi-ge, I…”
Qi Wenyan didn’t have time to react. Their noses nearly bumped, and the rest of Chu Zhiyu’s words got stuck in his throat.
Feeling the awkward air, Qi Wenyan glanced up uneasily—
Only to see Chu Zhiyu’s ears suddenly flush a bright red.
