Chapter 21: Qiyu Coldly Rejects the Pervert
Qi Wenyan subtly took half a step back, his face bearing a professional, perfunctory smile.
“Hello, I’m Qi—”
“I know.”
The man interrupted him, smiling suggestively.
“Wenyan, I’ve heard a lot about you.”
Qi Wenyan frowned.
Madam Xu said, “This is General Manager Shang from Wanhao. Young Mr. Shang owns an investment studio—it counts as being in your circle.”
Qi Wenyan forced a polite smile.
“General Manager Shang, truly impressive for someone so young.”
“In your circle”?
Anyone overhearing that might think she meant the entertainment industry—others might assume something more specific.
In front of Xu Qinyi, Shang Qiu played the part of a young, accomplished man uninterested in fame or fortune, managing to quickly amuse her with his charm.
Just then, a call came in from her company. Madam Xu, always efficient, barked out a few arrangements, then conveniently left Qi Wenyan alone with the “reliable” young executive.
Qi Wenyan cursed silently and quickly tried to escape with an excuse.
“I just remembered I left my mother’s gift in the car—excuse me.”
But Shang Qiu blocked his way with an overly forceful move.
There was a flash of obsession in Shang Qiu’s eyes, though outwardly he maintained his polite facade.
“This is your birthday party, Qi-laoshi. Surely the guest of honor shouldn’t leave? I know this place well—how about I accompany you?”
After repeatedly being cut off, Qi Wenyan’s expression chilled.
He smiled distantly.
“General Manager Shang, someone like you—already navigating the business world at such a young age—surely knows how to take a hint?”
The meaning was obvious. But the man before him still wouldn’t back off.
Qi Wenyan let out a cold laugh and stepped around him toward the door.
General Manager Shang? Please, someone call Fang Ruxu to buy out this fool’s company already!
Even after being snubbed so obviously, Shang Qiu didn’t get angry. On the contrary, he followed Qi Wenyan closely like a shadow, clearly not planning to leave.
When they exited the Wenci Pavilion, Shang Qiu was still tailing him.
Qi Wenyan abruptly stopped in the hallway with a cold smirk.
Shang Qiu feigned ignorance:
“What’s the matter, Qi-laoshi? Lost your way?”
Qi Wenyan folded his arms, leaning casually against the wall. Nearby was the door to another private room.
He looked directly at Shang Qiu and said calmly,
“I’ll be direct—Madam Xu introduced you, but I have no plans to look for a partner right now.”
Shang Qiu dismissed his words,
“Then just think of me as a friend. I believe where there’s a will, there’s a way. Don’t you?”
“And besides…”
Shang Qiu suddenly leaned in, breaking social boundaries.
Qi Wenyan instinctively stepped back, but the man blocked his escape.
He gritted his teeth and growled, “Get lost.”
Shang Qiu smiled obsessively and reached out, brushing Qi Wenyan’s bangs with a disturbing tenderness.
Low-voiced, he whispered:
“How would you know we’re not compatible if you don’t try? If you don’t want a relationship, we could just skip the tedious parts…”
Qi Wenyan rolled his eyes hard.
Even an idiot could understand the implication behind that!
He’d really run into a pervert!
Quickly sizing up their physical capabilities, Qi Wenyan made a swift decision and knocked hard on the nearby private room door—anything to make noise!
In the very next second, while Shang Qiu was still processing, Qi Wenyan elbowed him hard in the throat!
“Ugh—”
Shang Qiu staggered back, clutching his neck and gagging.
But when Qi Wenyan saw the gleam of twisted excitement in the man’s eyes, he nearly despaired.
Why did he attract perverted gay men with such a high success rate?!
He was a solid 1.8-meter-tall man, for crying out loud!
Subconsciously, he ignored one small detail—his icy, refined, and breathtaking looks.
He was literally prime beef in the gay dating world.
Shang Qiu seemed ready for Round Two. But just as Qi Wenyan braced himself for battle—
The door to the next room opened!
Unlike Madam Xu’s banquet hall, this was just a regular private suite.
Qi Wenyan’s eyes lit up.
Finally! A witness! Even a passerby would do!
A young man in a suit and glasses was the first to step out, calling back into the room:
“Chu-shao, aren’t you coming out too?”
Then he caught sight of Qi Wenyan—his eyes widened in shock.
“Did… you knock on the door just now? Are you looking for someone?”
Judging by his aura, he was clearly a rich young heir.
Could he possibly know someone like this?
Suspicious, the bespectacled man turned back and called out teasingly,
“Chu-shao! Come out—someone’s here looking for you!”
Qi Wenyan quickly waved his hands. “No, that’s not—!”
But then he caught a glimpse of Shang Qiu’s predatory gaze.
Qi Wenyan: “……”
He closed his eyes in resignation and muttered, “Yes. I’m here to see Chu-shao.”
Between losing face and losing his dignity—clearly the latter was worse.
This Chu-shao guy probably belonged to some prominent family too—maybe he even shared a surname with Xiao Chu.
Who knows which room Xiao Chu was in today?
Hearing approaching footsteps, Qi Wenyan mentally braced himself for a social nightmare and opened his eyes—
Only to see Chu Zhiyu emerge from the room, wearing a black t-shirt and a frosty expression.
The moment their eyes met, both of them froze.
Qi Wenyan: “?”
He hadn’t eaten any mushrooms today… Why was Xiao Chu here?
Chu Zhiyu stared, stunned, mouth opening and closing as if unsure what to say. Panic bloomed inside him.
The two stood awkwardly by the door.
The glasses guy sensed something odd and looked toward Shang Qiu in the hallway.
“Hey, is your friend actually looking for someone or not?”
Shang Qiu adjusted his glasses, asking slowly,
“Is this your friend, Qi-laoshi?”
Qi Wenyan snapped back to the present.
He had almost forgotten about this damn pervert!
No matter what was going on with Xiao Chu, he had to shut this creep down first!
Qi Wenyan grabbed Chu Zhiyu’s arm and flashed a sweet, intimate smile:
“Darling, didn’t we agree to spend my birthday alone together? What took you so long to come find me!”
Worried that Chu Zhiyu would blow the act, Qi Wenyan stood with his back to Shang Qiu and frantically signaled with his eyes.
Thankfully, Xiao Chu remained ever-reliable.
He stepped up beside Qi Wenyan, pulling him slightly behind him, then greeted Shang Qiu with a composed smile.
“Hello, I’m Chu Zhiyu.”
The smile on Shang Qiu’s face began to fade.
Qi Wenyan added a fake smile for good measure.
“If you’re still hungry, General Manager Shang, feel free to return to your table. No need to worry about me.”
Chu Zhiyu chimed in politely:
“Thanks for looking after our Wenyan.”
Qi Wenyan’s ears turned bright red.
Why the hell was he calling him “our Wenyan”?
Shang Qiu’s gaze slid away from Qi Wenyan and toward Chu Zhiyu, flashing a dark, challenging grin.
“Then Mr. Chu, you’d better keep a close eye on him. Precious things tend to attract… attention.”
The air turned tense.
Right then, Qi Wenyan suddenly raised his phone and smirked.
“I recorded everything. Maybe General Manager Shang would like to play it in the background next time you try sucking up to my mother?”
Shang Qiu narrowed his eyes.
Clearly, he wasn’t willing to let go of someone who fit his tastes so perfectly.
Qi Wenyan gestured grandly toward the exit.
“So please stop acting shameless and leave.”
This was the first time Shang Qiu had been humiliated this badly. After repeated rebukes, even he began to lose his temper.
But just as he was about to act, Qi Wenyan turned to a passing server and shouted loudly:
“This man’s having a manic episode! Call security, now!”
The server turned pale.
Xinyue Mansion hosted banquets frequently—they knew the city’s elites well.
A quick glance, and he realized: one was Wanhao’s General Manager Shang, and the other… was their boss!
Along with a distinguished-looking young heir!
Terrified, the server didn’t hesitate. Their boss had already made a hand signal.
He radioed for help and shouted:
“Guests, please step back! Security is on the way!”
Didn’t matter who this Shang guy was—if the boss said he’s mentally unstable, then he’s mentally unstable.
Xinyue’s staff were well-trained. Before Shang Qiu could react, two baton-wielding guards were already charging over.
Getting dragged out as a lunatic would be the ultimate disgrace.
Shang Qiu’s face turned grim.
No way the staff would dare act like this unless someone behind the scenes had ordered it.
The culprit—Chu Zhiyu—was now clinging softly to Qi Wenyan and whispering sweetly:
“Qi-ge, you’re still too polite to creeps like that.”
Qi Wenyan sighed deeply.
“Call it a good deed.”
Shang Qiu, furious, finally turned to leave, but not before glaring daggers at Qi Wenyan and threatening,
“Mr. Qi… we will meet again.”
He shoved past security and left, visibly humiliated.
Qi Wenyan spat dramatically in his wake.
“That creep thinks he’s the Big Bad Wolf or something!”
The farce finally over, the hallway quieted once more.
Glasses Guy, who’d watched the entire scene, was completely dumbfounded.
Eventually, he turned to the pair, wide-eyed with shock.
“Wait… You… You’re Chu Zhiyu’s partner?!”
Qi Wenyan winced. Just as he’d gotten rid of one walking disaster, now he had to explain this?
He was about to launch into a long-winded clarification—
But then Chu Zhiyu tugged gently at his arm, looked calmly at Glasses Guy, and said—
“Yes.”
