- Dare to Cancel the Engagement? I Will Marry Your Ancestor!
- Chapter 13 - The Qilin Trading Company
In the main hall of the Tianyun Sect, Mo Ling walked in with his hands behind his back, as disciples respectfully greeted him.
Inside, there was a heated argument. Elder Hu Xin and his close ally, Elder Gu Kewai, were fiercely debating while holding the abacus.
Mo Ling paused to listen.
They were discussing how to handle the money.
The Tianyun Sect had hosted a grand wedding banquet. Despite not worrying about expenses for the sake of face, the guests were generous, mostly to curry favor with Mo Ling and the Long family ancestor.
The good news was that the wedding had made a lot of money. The bad news was that the two elders had different plans for it.
Hu Xin insisted on using the money to buy rare treasures as a wedding gift for the Xingyao Sect and Long Ziyan.
Gu Kewai disagreed, wanting to use the money to improve the disciples’ weapons.
Understanding the situation, Mo Ling boldly stepped in.
“The Sect Leader is delighted, so the disciples should share in the joy. Since we have extra money, let’s use it for their benefit.”
Without even sitting down, Mo Ling made his decision, leaving Hu Xin fuming.
“Leader, be cautious. The Xingyao Sect didn’t even send a servant to the wedding, clearly showing their anger. We can’t afford to offend them!”
Mo Ling remained calm. “Elder Hu is right. When the Xingyao Sect has their wedding, you will represent our sect. They may be unkind, but we must not be unjust. Take any gift you like from the ones we received.”
Hu Xin, with a furrowed brow, retorted, “Are you so happy that you’ve lost your mind, ignoring the Xingyao Sect?”
Mo Ling chuckled. “I don’t mean that. Elder Hu, you’re overvaluing a few coins. Our Tianyun Sect may be small, but we shouldn’t be so self-deprecating.”
The other elders smirked, agreeing with Mo Ling.
No matter how powerful the Xingyao Sect was, they hadn’t shown any respect. The Tianyun Sect attending was already enough; they shouldn’t belittle themselves.
Hu Xin, speechless, watched Mo Ling leave with his hands behind his back.
Mo Ling, with a final remark, handed the sect affairs to Gu Kewai before leaving. “Gu Kewai understands my intentions. You’ll manage the sect’s affairs.”
Frustrated, Hu Xin could only mutter, “If the Tianyun Sect faces disaster, let’s see how the leader will explain!”
Mo Ling knew the sect had no profitable businesses and had to pay tribute to larger sects every year, living frugally.
Money isn’t everything, but life without it is tough!
Mo Ling roamed the bustling streets, seeking ways to generate income.
In Tianguang City, he saw countless small businesses, but none caught his eye.
Until he reached a small house, hidden behind two rows of bamboo, with a stream winding through it. Inside were two large black doors.
A sign above the open doors read: Qilin Trading Company.
This was a place only cultivators could enter, selling all kinds of items they needed, from magical tools to herbs, encompassing everything.
Mo Ling felt a spark of interest and followed the crowd inside.
At the bamboo gate, there was a barrier that ordinary people couldn’t pass through.
He saw a curious child trying to sneak in between adults’ legs, but while the adults got through, the child hit the barrier and ended up with a bump on his head.
Entering through the red lacquered doors, there were different shelves on the left, middle, and right, spanning three floors.
As soon as he walked in, he saw people eagerly spending money, buying all sorts of items.
Mo Ling marveled, thinking that the Qilin Trading Company’s daily earnings might surpass those of Tianyun Sect in a day!
If you’re going to do something, do it big!
Mo Ling ignored the crowded shelves and headed straight up the mahogany stairs, reaching the third floor, where it was deserted.
The middle and upper floors seemed to be separated by a barrier, as it became quiet upon reaching the top.
This floor was filled with magical tools of various attributes, shapes, and forms displayed on the shelves, leaving Mo Ling amazed.
A plump, friendly-looking middle-aged man greeted Mo Ling warmly.
“Feel free to look around. If you like something, you can try it out.”
Mo Ling nodded and picked up a meteor hammer in front of him.
It felt extraordinarily heavy, weighing at least a hundred pounds.
The middle-aged man complimented him, “You truly are impressive. This hundred-step meteor hammer contains refined monster bones. Even a scratch will lead to demonic energy invasion.”
Mo Ling swung the hammer as instructed, and the tip emitted a sinister green gas.
“Good, but not the best.”
The middle-aged man didn’t take it as criticism but rather got more excited, thinking he had a knowledgeable buyer for a big deal. He enthusiastically pitched more items.
“Look at this.”
Mo Ling followed the man to the left room, where a large sword was displayed.
It seemed to be made of black iron and steel, its dark body impervious to the room’s crystal light.
“How about this sword?”
Mo Ling swung it, revealing a hidden red blade within the black one, like it thirsted for bl00d.
“Good, but lacks finesse.”
“How about this phantom sword that can unleash a hundred and eight sword energies? One man can hold off ten thousand enemies!”
“This Luban Ball can transform into various objects with a command. A must-have for roaming the mountains!”
“These Dragonfly Boots allow you to travel even while sleeping. Limited edition, only a few pairs!”
“This Enchanted Bird can remember seven or eight spells, a helper that doesn’t need food or drink!”
…
Apart from powerful magical weapons, there were many ingeniously designed items.
Each time the middle-aged man introduced something, he mentioned it was the only one, and though it might not be unique, it wasn’t widely available.
Isn’t this the way?
Coming from the highly developed Blue Star, Mo Ling understood the concept of industrial mass production.
Being a mechanical enthusiast with a talent for designing mechanisms, he could easily develop and design on his own.
Combining Blue Star technology with otherworldly cultivation techniques would certainly have potential!
For example, the Scarlet Imprint skill, if it could be used through external devices, wouldn’t everyone be able to use it?
