- Dare to Cancel the Engagement? I Will Marry Your Ancestor!
- Chapter 14 - Big Store Bullies Customer
“Excuse me, cultivator, is there nothing here that satisfies you? Could you tell me your requirements?” The middle-aged man wiped the sweat from his forehead with his sleeve, finally suspecting Mo Ling’s intentions.
“I want to see your shopkeeper!”
“Haha, so you weren’t here to buy anything after all. Our shopkeeper isn’t here. If you want to see him, you’ll have to go home and wait.” The middle-aged man’s friendly demeanor turned cold in an instant. Two guards appeared, forcing Mo Ling downstairs and out the door. Once he was outside, they returned to the shop.
“Go away; if you can’t afford it, don’t look!”
Mo Ling stood at the entrance, unfazed by the teasing child with a bump on his head. He turned and walked towards the city.
At the City Lord’s mansion in Tianguang City, Xu Changming heard that the newlywed Mo Ling had come to visit and immediately had him invited in.
As Mo Ling entered the reception hall, Xu Changming stood up to greet him and led him to a seat.
“What brings the Sect Leader here today?”
Mo Ling chuckled, “I’d like to ask a favor.”
Given Mo Ling’s current status, Xu Changming didn’t hesitate to agree.
“Whatever the Sect Leader needs, just ask. I hope I can be of help and not hinder your important matters.”
Xu Changming, as the City Lord, was humble and smooth-talking, always saying the right things.
Mo Ling, however, didn’t fully trust such a person and simply smiled. “I recently had a breakthrough in my cultivation and need a suitable magical tool.”
Xu Changming sighed, “Do you know the Qilin Trading Company? Even if they don’t have what you need, they can take commissions to find it. I’m sure they can get what you want.”
Mo Ling sighed and showed a troubled expression. “It’s not something I can discuss with the shop assistants; I need to talk to the shopkeeper. I went to the store earlier but didn’t see him.”
Xu Changming understood that Mo Ling wanted him to arrange a meeting with the shopkeeper, which was an easy task for him.
“Haha, you’ve come to the right person. The Qilin Trading Company has only one branch in our Tianguang City in Beihan Continent, and our relationship is strong.”
Mo Ling cupped his hands in thanks. “I appreciate it.”
Xu Changming called for his butler to make arrangements while flattering Mo Ling. “The Sect Leader is truly gifted, breaking through a difficult bottleneck overnight. Is there a secret to it?”
There was indeed a secret, but it couldn’t be shared with outsiders. The treasure that Long Qianqian, who had been in Beihan Continent for years, possessed was unknown to others—because they had only themselves to blame.
“It’s just sudden inspiration. You know that feeling? Everything you do is fortunate, and everything you practice yields twice the results with half the effort.”
Xu Changming awkwardly smiled, “Heaven’s blessing indeed. The Sect Leader is destined for great achievements. I hope for your guidance in the future.”
Mo Ling cupped his hands, displaying a natural air of authority, making him seem very sincere. “Of course!”
Xu Changming, even more eager to please him, had his butler bring the shopkeeper of the Qilin Trading Company to the city.
The shopkeeper, a tall and thin man with high cheekbones, walked in, resembling a rugged old pine tree standing in the wilderness.
“Does the City Lord wish to see me?”
Xu Changming quickly stood up and introduced, “This is Mo Ling, the Sect Leader of Tianyun Sect. You may know him.”
“Hehe, I’m sorry, but I don’t.”
From the shopkeeper’s demeanor, Mo Ling could tell he was as stubborn and unyielding as an old brick, and his lack of courtesy was expected.
Xu Changming awkwardly tried to smooth things over. “You must have heard about the grand wedding recently, where the Tianyun Sect Leader married the Long family ancestor?”
The shopkeeper replied, “I’ve heard of the Long family ancestor.”
This was essentially saying that Long Qianqian had married someone beneath her, further disrespecting Mo Ling.
Xu Changming introduced the shopkeeper to Mo Ling, “This is Bai Yun Song, the shopkeeper of Qilin Trading Company.”
Mo Ling sat calmly, with a slight smile. “No wonder Qilin Trading Company is so successful; the shopkeeper’s temperament is even grander.”
This remark was a veiled criticism of the shopkeeper’s arrogance.
Xu Changming, hearing this, decided to sit down and call for tea.
Bai Yun Song coldly snorted, “I’m busy today. What does the City Lord need?”
Xu Changming smiled wryly, “I’m just a middleman. Sect Leader Mo wants to meet you.”
Bai Yun Song lowered his eyes and responded, “Consider us acquainted today, Sect Leader Mo. We’ll arrange another time.”
“Alright.”
Bai Yun Song bowed and left, with Mo Ling following him out the door. As they reached the entrance, Mo Ling muttered, “What’s the use of expensive magical tools if they can’t be sold?”
Bai Yun Song, enraged, turned around. “Mind your words, Sect Leader Mo. Our Qilin Trading Company deals with great cultivators. Small sects like yours shouldn’t embarrass themselves.”
Mo Ling realized Bai Yun Song simply looked down on Tianyun Sect rather than having a personal grudge.
As Bai Yun Song got into his carriage, Xu Changming emerged: “Sect Leader Mo, that’s just his temperament. He travels extensively and prides himself on his vast knowledge, looking down on others.”
Mo Ling smiled amiably, “Managing Qilin Trading Company and sourcing so many magical tools is no small feat. They say geniuses have quirks, after all!”
Xu Changming, impressed, cupped his hands. “Sect Leader Mo, your broad mind is admirable! If you need anything in the future, just ask.”
Watching Xu Changming leave, Mo Ling’s expression turned mocking.
Indeed, old grudges are settled, and forgiving them brings peace of mind.
He immediately called for a carriage and followed Bai Yun Song.
Bai Yun Song was heading to the Xingyao Sect’s residence in Tianguang City.
Long Ziyan gracefully walked ahead, entering the residence without acknowledging the guards, arrogantly bypassing any formalities.
Mo Ling halted his carriage to watch the scene unfold.
The guards blocked her path and asked, “Miss, who are you here to see?”
Long Ziyan, still upset about Mo Ling’s marriage to Long Qianqian, had come to complain to Li Daotian, determined to make Mo Ling look bad.
But as the future Saintess, she was not expecting to be stopped!
“How dare you! Do you know who I am?”
“We don’t. Please state your name, and we will announce you.”
Long Ziyan stomped her foot in anger, her face turning red. Just as she was about to erupt, Bai Yun Song, carrying a box, walked past the guards without any questions.
Long Ziyan, even angrier, shouted, “I am Long Ziyan. Let me in!”
The guards remained stern. “Wait for the announcement.”
Mo Ling found this highly amusing, knowing Bai Yun Song was there to deliver gifts. That old rascal, bullying the weak and fearing the strong, would soon receive a taste of his own medicine!
Mo Ling took out a communication talisman to contact Gu Kewai, giving instructions and reminding him, “Make sure not to reveal your identity!”
