- Chapter 30 - The Female Monk of the Ancient Well
After the red light flooded the entire cave, a figure began to slowly rise from the ancient well.
It was a woman dressed in monk robes!
Her long hair danced wildly in the air as she slowly raised both hands. At that moment, she controlled the malevolent energy in the cave, causing it to reach its peak.
No matter how Mo Ling tried, he couldn’t summon his spiritual energy to resist the immense pressure that seemed to weigh down on his body.
As Shui Yue let out a soft groan, kneeling on the ground, Mo Ling found himself unable to resist and also knelt down.
And at the same time, all three thousand corpse spirits knelt as well!
The King of the Corpse Spirits was a woman?
A woman could also become a monk?
The woman in the ancient well raised her hands to her sides and stopped her actions, slowly opening her eyes.
Once her eyes, glowing with a strange light, fully opened, the red light that had spread across the cave walls was immediately absorbed back into her body.
The female monk lowered her outstretched hands, and her eyes were shifted to Mo Ling and Shui Yue.
Just one glance from those eyes filled with red light made Mo Ling feel his bl00d boil and his spiritual energy become chaotic!
Shui Yue collapsed to his side.
It was over!
Not only could they not use any spiritual energy, but they couldn’t even move their bodies. They had truly become lambs for slaughter.
Fortunately, the female monk immediately moved her gaze away, spreading her hands wide and tilting her head back to inhale. The three thousand corpse spirits, who had been kneeling around them, were forced to raise their bald heads toward the female monk.
It turned out the female monk intended to absorb the corpse energy from the three thousand corpse spirits!
Such a wicked method—to use the corpse energy to nourish herself. What kind of evil magic was this?
The corpse energy was toxic as well, yet this woman could withstand so much of it?
Mo Ling predicted that the corpse spirits in the Mirror Ring Mountain had been created by the release of this corpse energy, which filled the entire mountain range with it!
The dark magic had twisted the situation, making everyone believe there was a hidden realm.
They had been tricked!
Mo Ling just hoped that he wouldn’t lose his life here.
Watching as the female monk absorbed the corpse energy, Mo Ling finally felt the tension in his body relax.
The ancient well became calm, and the red malevolent light in the cave disappeared.
The three thousand corpse spirits, now reduced to dust and flew back towards the temple.
What a terrifying curse!
The Monks were forced into this never-ending cycle of evil magic and could never escape.
What puzzled Mo Ling the most was why the female monk had spared them.
They would have quickly become corpse spirits, new power for her.
“Why are you still in shocked? Hurry up and leave!” Shui Yue, gathering her spiritual energy and wiping the bl00d from her lips, cursed as she stood up.
Although Mo Ling wanted to check out the temple again to see if the three thousand monks were still there, Shui Yue was insistent on dragging him away.
Mo Ling reluctantly summoned Lotus Platform and used it to fly out of the cave, following the path out of the temple.
As soon as they left the temple, the stone door behind them closed.
Mo Ling looked back, but he had no idea where the temple’s entrance was anymore.
“Who?”
A loud voice shouted, and Mo Ling turned to see several figures standing outside the tunnel.
Shui Yue glanced coldly at them and snorted, then leaped down. Her Fire God Whip lashed out several times, using the cracks in the mountain wall to climb up, leaping out from the ground.
Mo Ling stored Lotus Platform and watched her disappearing figure while cursing Shui Yue in his mind.
He had saved her life three time, yet she hasn’t even said thank you. No wonder she was from the Xingyao Sect!
He complained but didn’t plan to leave with her.
Instead, he turned his attention to the figures in front of him.
The three men, dressed in fine robes, looked at Mo Ling. One of them has a broad-shouldered with a square face and a short beard. He clasped his hands and said, “I am Bai Mo, the Supreme Sect Master of the Dayan Sword Sect. May I ask where you my friend came from?”
Mo Ling glanced at the capable disciples that accompanied the man, their strength matching his own. He politely cupped his hands and replied, “I am Mo Ling, the Sect Master of the Tianyun Sect. I got lost inside and am fortunate to have not run into any trouble with the Sect Master.”
Bai Mo, understanding that Mo Ling was from a smaller sect, recognized that he would only be passing through the area, so he accepted his explanation. “I wonder why that woman left so hastily?”
Mo Ling cupped his hands again, “I had a little misunderstanding with her and she was quite upset with me. In a fit of anger, she left.”
One of Bai Mo’s elders, an experienced cultivator, remarked, “I noticed that the woman was wielding the Fire God Whip. The only person in the Northern Cold Region who uses that weapon is Shui Yue, the Saintess of the Xingyao Sect.”
Mo Ling pretended to be surprised and scratched his head, “I didn’t know she was the Saintess of the Xingyao Sect. Had I known her identity, I would have been more courteous.”
The Dayan Sword Sect stood alone at the foot of Mirror Ring Mountain, distant from the three major sects, but they were aware that small sects like Tianyun Sect often relied on larger ones for support.
Seeing Mo Ling’s submissive attitude, they weren’t interested in wasting more time with him. With a simple bow, they turned and left.
Mo Ling watched them disappear into another gap, feeling a little relieved.
Just as he was about to leave, another figure dropped down from the ground fissure. The fiery red cloak above looked like a giant umbrella, and Mo Ling quickly dodged to the side, avoiding the sharp edges.
What landed before him was a figure with wild red hair and blue copper rings in their ears—a face with a bluish tint, unmistakably the Demon Fire Lord, Chong Lou!
Mo Ling knew he was no match for this demon god, so he stood there, remaining as calm as possible.
Chong Lou flicked his fiery red cloak, his red pupils locking onto Mo Ling. Without a word, he instantly appeared in front of Mo Ling and grabbed his neck, lifting him off the ground.
Incredibly fast—before Mo Ling could even blink, he was already under control.
But just as he tightened his grip, Chong Lou’s hand loosened. He pulled back, staring at his own fingers in surprise, then turned his gaze back to Mo Ling.
Mo Ling had made no attempt to resist, and it seemed Chong Lou had sensed the same malevolent energy he had just encountered in the cave.
“Why do you have such strong malevolent energy on you?” Chong Lou asked, his voice filled with curiosity.
Mo Ling pointed to the crack where the Dayan Sword Sect had entered, saying, “I encountered something terrifying in there. It was only by luck that I managed to escape, and the malevolent energy must have come from that place.”
Chong Lou’s figure flickered and disappeared before Mo Ling’s eyes.
“Get going quickly, or you’ll end up as a free tour guide for the ground fissures!” Chong Lou’s voice echoed in Mo Ling’s mind.
Mo Ling considered the other possible fissures. If Long Qianqian hadn’t gone through this one, she must have taken to another.
There must be a path through one of these vents, but which one?
Just as he hesitated, he heard two more figures drop down behind him.
“How is this secret realm so bizarre? Did we walk into the wrong place?”
