Dark-colored Fairy Tale: Seven Magicians - Chapter 1
Chapter 1
“Late Night in the UK”
In a shadowy, dark alley, a long, slender figure moved rapidly. Her form was hard to make out, but you could see the sway of a short skirt and her nimble posture. Each step covered dozens of meters.
If a normal person saw that astonishing speed, they would definitely take out their phone and post to social media with a caption like—Shocking! On a dark and windy night, Superman is no longer wearing red underwear!
Of course, Mist, as a mage, never paid attention to such things. The organization behind her would handle all of that anyway.
In her hand, she held a red rose, full of romantic flair, and she was rushing toward the outskirts of the city like a young girl eager to meet her beloved. But anyone who truly recognized the rose would never think that.
The Thorn Rose—a man-made offering, capable of summoning several poisonous thorns to shoot at a target. Once struck, the target will grow thorns and be briefly bound. Its lethality is capable of slaughtering a hundred people.
“Damn it, who was derelict in their duty! To let this kind of demon, corrupted by demonic energy, appear in the university town!! Gah!” Mist cursed under her breath, frowning. She stopped and listened, and soon she heard heavy footsteps chasing her.
Mist didn’t move. She tightly gripped the sacrificial Thorn Rose in her hand, her eyes cold and focused.
As the heavy footsteps approached, a two-meter-tall demon, shrouded in darkness, charged at Mist, holding a giant crown.
“I am the best!”
“I am number one!”
“No one can be stronger than me!!!”
As the demon roared, Mist’s eyes grew even more tranquil.
She could even find time to quip, “What’s the point of being the best? Can you get a girlfriend? You’re clearly a pathetic loser.”
Though she was muttering and complaining, Mist felt extremely annoyed.
She was supposed to be on vacation today, planning to see if a recently popular male celebrity really had a sugar daddy. If he did, she’d take photos and expose him. Her camera was ready, but then this trashy demon showed up!
It infuriated her! You trashy demon, don’t let me find an opportunity, or I’ll blast you back to where you came from!!!
Although she was cursing internally, the university town had a very high population. While the world’s laws helped mages, who must remain unknown to outsiders, conceal their extraordinary nature, the traces of battle between mages and demons would not be erased. There was also the risk of accidentally harming innocent people. Thus, magical organizations around the world have clear rules prohibiting the use of large-scale offensive offerings in urban areas. These can also be called spell-form offerings.
Because of this, Mist, who had a total of six offerings on her person, could only use two: the Thorn Rose in her hand and the control-type offering, the Deep Sea Barrier.
Watching the demon get closer, Mist finally dropped her careless smile. “What a trashy rule. How can there be a battle without anyone dying? It would be their honor to die by my offering.”
She touched the “One-Eyed Princess’s Tear” that was destined to remain unused today. As she watched the demon approach, Mist suddenly yelled, “Hey, idiot! You’re not powerful at all! Come on, let’s have a baby and see who’s better!”
At her words, the demon’s chase paused. He seemed to be a male…
Fortunately, the demon’s mind was muddled and violent. As long as someone triggered the obsession that caused his fall, he would chase that person until they were dead.
Just like now, the demon felt insulted. He was the best!
There should be no one in this world more outstanding than him!
So, he was going to kill this person who claimed to be better at having children than him!
This kind of purely verbal attack was what Mist usually disliked the most, but looking at the mindless demon, roaring in rage, Mist was so disgusted by his ugly appearance that she gave him a few extra words.
“Hey, idiot! Should I send you to Thailand for a s3x change and to Korea for plastic surgery? Only then might some blind person have a baby with you!”
As her voice faded, the demon roared with even greater fury, charging at her as if insane.
Looking toward the not-so-distant outskirts, Mist flexed her fingers. Her usually careless face took on a look of determination, and she began to curse fluently in her native tongue. “You punk! Your grandpa’s here, and today I’m going to scatter your ashes!!!”
Mist spat. A light blue pearl floated from her chest, and a deep blue energy instantly enveloped the demon.
This was the Deep Sea Barrier, one of the two offerings Mist could use in the city. Its main function was to create resistance and pressure like that of the deep sea, which could make the demon blossom—like a firework.
“Roar!” The demon seemed to sense the danger and struggled desperately, swinging its weapon wildly, but it couldn’t break free.
The demon’s struggle delighted Mist, and she couldn’t help but smile. However, a moment later, her face suddenly turned grim. The Thorn Rose in her hand instantly shot out its thorns, and just as they approached the Deep Sea Barrier, the barrier shattered. At the same time, an even more violent aura erupted from the demon’s body.
Mist was shocked. She activated the Wind Feathers on her shoes, wanting to teleport away, but it was too late. With no other option, Mist had to take the hit directly. The demon’s giant crown was as heavy as a thousand pounds, and the force of the blow left Mist with severe internal pain. A look of agony appeared on her face.
“Cough, ugh.” She licked the metallic taste of bl00d from her mouth. Mist’s originally light blue eyes instantly turned dark blue, and her usual smile returned. She now held the “One-Eyed Princess’s Tear,” her most lethal offering.
This was her most powerful offering. If she used it in this city, more than half of it could be destroyed. This was why the organization strictly prohibited the use of such spell-type offerings.
Even though she knew the organization’s rules, Mist showed no intention of stopping.
Her tone was light and cheerful, but laced with a chilling, unsettling coldness.
“Well, well, well, fighting a demon like you head-on really isn’t a rational choice for a mage. So, for the safety of the entire city, it should be fine if I sacrifice a small portion of the population to save the majority, right?”
The words hung in the air with no one to answer, but perhaps Mist never expected anyone to.
“Since no one is saying anything, I’ll take that as a ‘yes’ from all of you.”
Before she could finish her playful words, a tiny white light began to gather at her chest. At first, the point of light was very small, like a firefly’s glow in a lamp. But as time passed, the light grew stronger and stronger! If you looked closely, you would see that the space around the white light had already begun to warp due to the high-temperature condensation.
If this compressed, giant, high-temperature ball of light was launched, half the people in the city would be annihilated!
