Dark-colored Fairy Tale: Seven Magicians - Chapter 12
Chapter 12
At the same time, Lu Yumo looked at Lu Yuting’s faded pajamas with a gentle smile. “Why did you decide to wear this today? Why not the one I bought for you?”
Lu Yuting just gave him a cold look, then turned her head away, not wanting to see that face she hated, even though he was her brother.
Lu Yumo seemed accustomed to Lu Yuting’s temper tantrums. He simply walked over to her desk. When he saw some notes on an exam paper that were in a different handwriting from his sister’s, he held it like a precious treasure.
“Did Mengmeng do this exam here just now?”
“Yes, that’s right. She did it for me. Put it back.” Lu Yuting’s voice was sharp, and she reached out to snatch the paper.
Lu Yumo was faster than her and lifted the paper high up. He looked at the elegant yet sharp handwriting and praised it with a hint of obsession. “It’s so beautiful.”
Hearing this, Lu Yuting’s body, which had been reaching for the paper, stiffened. A sneer formed on her lips. She suddenly jumped and, before Lu Yumo could react, snatched the paper back. With a rip, the paper was torn to shreds.
Looking at the scraps of paper floating in the air, Lu Yumo became enraged. He grabbed Lu Yuting’s clothes and roared.
“What are you doing! Why did you tear her paper?!”
“Why can’t I tear it? It’s my paper!” Lu Yuting mercilessly pulled her collar out of Lu Yumo’s hand and slammed the door on him.
Lu Yumo was still pounding on the door. “Open the door! I’m going to fix it! I’m going to—”
“You’re so annoying! Get lost!”
“Lu Yuting! I know you’re just jealous! You’re just jealous of Liu Menglu!”
“Yes, I am! So what?!”
“I’m jealous that she’s pretty, I’m jealous that she’s good at school, and I’m most jealous that she doesn’t have a brother like you!” Lu Yuting screamed hysterically.
Outside the room, Lu Yumo froze, his body rigid. He turned to go back to his room but saw his mother looking at him with a tired expression.
“Yumo, why are you back so early today?”
Lu Yumo gave a vague answer and returned to his room, closing the door tightly. Thinking of Liu Menglu, Lu Yuting, and his mother, he felt even more agitated.
…
“Mengmeng, what’s wrong with you lately? You’ve been so distracted in class. The teacher looked at you so many times, didn’t you notice?” Yang Shishi helplessly poked her friend.
Liu Menglu was in a daze for a moment, then gave an apologetic smile, but she didn’t say anything.
For a week now, ever since she visited Lu Yuting, she’s felt like someone was watching her nearby. She had never been able to find anyone, which was starting to get to her.
Looking at the gray sky, Liu Menglu gave a weak smile and suddenly said something completely out of context. “Good thing I brought an umbrella today.”
Yang Shishi was stunned. She couldn’t help but roll her eyes. “Is it fun to pretend to be an idiot? I’m not dealing with you.”
With that, Yang Shishi pouted, tidied her bag, and left the classroom with a look of worry.
Liu Menglu was startled for a moment and was about to go after her friend.
But, suddenly, a voice whispered, [Why are you so perfect?]
Liu Menglu’s movements stopped abruptly. Her eyes widened, and she looked around cautiously. There was no one around, but the cruel, malevolent voice from before was still echoing in her ears.
Where is this thing coming from?!
Liu Menglu didn’t know if she was really in danger or just hallucinating. She retracted her steps toward her friend and quickly headed home with her bag.
The sky grew darker, and black clouds hung over the city, signaling the arrival of a storm.
On any other day, Liu Menglu might have chosen a shorter path to get home, but today, when she saw that small, secluded path, she abruptly stopped. Her gut feeling told her to take the main road.
But… the storm…
Liu Menglu hesitated for a moment but decided to trust her intuition and started running along the main road.
She didn’t know where her intuition came from, but Liu Menglu didn’t like to take mindless risks.
The main road home was close to the highway. Normally, during rush hour, it would be filled with countless cars, but for some reason, not a single normal car appeared in front of her.
This made Liu Menglu even more uneasy, and she quickened her pace.
“BOOM!”
A sudden thunderclap in the sky startled her. She glanced at the way home. Five minutes left.
Without hesitation, Liu Menglu put her head down and ran. Just then, she felt the road beneath her feet tremble.
Liu Menglu looked down in shock. The road is shaking?
Do I need to go to a hospital soon? Why am I having hallucinations?
Liu Menglu laughed at herself, forcefully suppressing the unease and fear in her heart, and sprinted toward home.
But the next second, “THUMP, THUMP, THUMP.” A rhythmic footstep, no, it was a heavy pounding, sounded behind her.
Liu Menglu wanted to turn around, but a chill ran down her spine. For some reason, her legs moved faster uncontrollably.
As Liu Menglu ran, the deliberately heavy footsteps also started to run behind her. The continuous thumping made her heart race.
Liu Menglu was very fast, but not as fast as the sound of the footsteps behind her.
Only a hundred meters away, Liu Menglu, who had been a good distance away from the footsteps, suddenly felt that the source of the sound was now just a step away.
“CRACKLE!”
Suddenly! A bolt of lightning tore through the night sky.
The blinding light from the lightning reached everyone’s eyes. Liu Menglu saw a massive, pig-headed silhouette holding some unknown object, and it was slowly covering her small shadow.
Watching her shadow get covered, Liu Menglu felt as if she was being devoured by an unknown monster.
Her body trembled uncontrollably. Her rapid breathing stopped for a moment, but even though she was filled with fear, a sudden burst of courage from somewhere made her turn her head.
The lightning once again pierced the night sky, and the creator of the footsteps finally showed its true face—a giant, two-meter-tall humanoid pig monster.
Looking at the monster that should only exist in anime, Liu Menglu stood petrified with fear and shock, yet she still had the presence of mind to make fun of herself.
If monsters exist in reality, does that mean mages and magical girls also exist?
The huge monster in front of her looked at the petite girl. It didn’t hesitate to lift the pig-head-shaped hammer in its hand and swing it toward Liu Menglu.
Liu Menglu was frozen in fear. The hammer, which came with a whooshing sound, was swinging directly toward Liu Menglu’s head.
