Dark-colored Fairy Tale: Seven Magicians - Chapter 14
Chapter 14
However, the previous backlash from the ritual had been too severe, and Chloe held a great deal of affection for Liu Menglu.
She only paused for a moment before she retracted her armor, a bag on her body, and completed the ritual.
The white light was especially bright in the darkness. Liu Menglu watched the girl, who was now without her armor and shorter than she was, and she felt a sense of unreality.
It wasn’t until the white light completely disappeared and Lu Yumo had been fully cleansed from this world that Liu Menglu recognized the girl. Isn’t this the person who just moved into the neighborhood?
How did she suddenly become a magical girl?!!!
So, should I act like an anime protagonist now and go hug her leg? After all, I’ve just discovered this world, and it’s a little scary!
Monsters are not something my science-minded brain can comprehend at all!
Chloe, who had completed the demon’s ritual, was completely unaware of Liu Menglu’s internal thoughts. As usual, after the ritual for Lu Yumo, she gained a few fragmented memories. Seeing the kidnapped girls in them, Chloe felt a bit troubled.
In the past, there were specialized people who handled the aftermath. But now, without the logistics team from Fayalon, she was at a loss. Her gaze was distant; the recent memories told her that there were still people in a nearby abandoned factory.
Although her logistics team wasn’t with her, as a magical being, she still had the duty to clean up the mess left by the deceased demon.
Seeing Chloe ignore her and start walking toward the abandoned factory, Liu Menglu snapped out of it and quickly followed her.
“Wait for me!”
Chloe’s steps paused slightly, but she didn’t wait. Instead of knocking the outsider unconscious like she usually would, she let Liu Menglu follow her. They walked with unsteady steps until they reached the abandoned factory.
Pushing open the factory’s large door, a dark, moldy smell hit them. Liu Menglu instinctively covered her nose, but Chloe’s expression didn’t change as she walked to a vent.
Lu Yuting was lying there, along with a few other corpses that had already been killed.
Liu Menglu was about to go over, but Chloe was a step ahead of her. She hoisted Lu Yuting onto her shoulder and began to walk outside.
“There are still people on the ground. Aren’t you going to do something?” Because Liu Menglu was far away, she couldn’t see that the others were dead and assumed they were all unconscious.
Chloe’s voice was indifferent. “They are not the main people. My team will send them back to their homes later.”
“Wow! Magical girls actually have a team that helps with the aftermath! That’s cool!”
Liu Menglu had no idea that magical girls had teams behind them. Her attention was completely captured by this new information.
After all, magical girls in anime always fought alone and sometimes weren’t even acknowledged, which was so pitiful.
“How many people are on your team? Are there any cute and adorable girls who can eat a lot but never get fat?”
Thinking of all the classic characters in magical girl anime, Liu Menglu couldn’t stop talking, which completely stunned Chloe.
How would I know if my team has people like that?
However, seeing Liu Menglu’s joyful expression, Chloe, for once, didn’t want to dampen her spirits. She only said, “No. My logistics team is very ordinary.”
Liu Menglu nodded, a little disappointed. But she was only curious about the logistics team. The person she was most curious about was the magical girl who was possibly her neighbor!
“So, you’re a magical girl, right?” Liu Menglu’s eyes were burning with excitement.
Seeing this, Chloe felt a headache coming on. She knew how obsessed Liu Menglu was with magical girls. Now that she had revealed herself to her, it meant that until the world’s rules were fixed and Liu Menglu’s memory was replaced, she might be stuck with her.
Although the thought of her sister sticking to her actually brought Chloe a sense of joy, her initial idea still stood. Her sister shouldn’t be involved in the dangerous world of magical beings.
Just as Chloe was thinking about how to convince Liu Menglu to go home, Lu Yuting, who was on her shoulder, woke up.
“Lu Yuting, how do you feel?” Liu Menglu asked, looking at Lu Yuting, who was now on the ground.
Lu Yuting was still a little dazed. She vaguely remembered that she had been resting at home, tending to her orchids, when she had a fierce argument with Lu Yumo.
Then, Lu Yumo broke the orchids, and… he turned into a pig-headed man!
Thinking of the monster from before she passed out, Lu Yuting’s face instantly turned pale, and her body began to tremble uncontrollably.
“Monster! There’s a monster here! Let’s get out of here!” Remembering the scene before she passed out, Lu Yuting scrambled to her feet, wanting to pull Liu Menglu away. But Liu Menglu soothed her.
“It’s okay. That pig-headed monster is dead.”
“Dead…?” Lu Yuting repeated the word, a look of disbelief in her eyes. “How is that possible? How could a monster like that be killed?”
Seeing that Lu Yuting didn’t believe her, Liu Menglu immediately showed off Chloe like she was a treasured possession. “Don’t underestimate her! Look, this is a real-life magical girl.”
Lu Yuting was stunned. She looked at the young and childlike Chloe and suddenly turned her head away.
Liu Menglu was confused. When Lu Yuting turned back around, her eyes were a little red. “That’s good, too. It’s good that he’s dead.”
Silence spread like a dense, heavy air.
Liu Menglu didn’t know how to comfort Lu Yuting.
As time passed, the clouds in the sky grew thicker. Liu Menglu wanted to say something comforting, but Lu Yuting spoke up, her voice hoarse. “Why did he become like that?”
Chloe looked at the girl who was staring at her stubbornly and said, “He had one of the Seven Deadly Sins in his heart. The sin took him over, and he fell.”
Lu Yuting suddenly smiled. “So that’s how it is. It makes sense. It was sloth that tempted him to fall, wasn’t it?” Although her tone was a question, there was a lot of certainty in her voice.
Chloe nodded. The pig-headed man was indeed the embodiment of sloth.
After getting a definitive answer, Lu Yuting slowly began to narrate. “Actually, I’ve had a feeling for a while that something like this might happen to him. Because he was so obedient to my mother; he was a pure Mama’s boy, a ‘freeloader’ who constantly bled his parents dry.”
“He never did anything and always enjoyed being taken care of. Years of comfort made him lose the courage to leave his comfort zone. So when my mother said she was leaving us recently, and I also told him I wouldn’t take care of him for the rest of his life, he got so emotional and desperately looked for someone who would take care of him for a lifetime.”
As she spoke, Lu Yuting hugged her knees tightly, her eyes blank as she reminisced.
