Chloe shook her head. She wasn’t picky about food; anything edible was fine.

Seeing this, Liu Menglu lowered her eyes. After a moment of thought, she whispered instructions, “Wait for me here. I’ll be right back. Watch our cart.”

Chloe wasn’t sure what Liu Menglu was going to do, but she nodded in agreement. Yang Shishi, seeing that Liu Menglu’s full attention was on Chloe, couldn’t help but feel a little jealous.

However, she crossed her arms and scrutinized Chloe out of the corner of her eye. Especially when her gaze landed on the exposed bandage on Chloe’s wrist, a sharp glint flashed in her beautiful cat-like eyes. That’s a curse seal.

“Shouldn’t you introduce yourself?” Chloe’s voice remained flat.

“Why should I? I’m a local; you’re the outsider. I, Yang Shishi, have a hundred ways to…” However, she deflated halfway through her sentence.

“What are you two doing?” Liu Menglu looked at the two who seemed to be in a standoff and asked, confused.

Yang Shishi instantly swallowed her arrogant words. She put on a smile and said, “Nothing. I was just curious about the bandage on her hand that looks like a tattoo. Good kids shouldn’t wear these.”

Liu Menglu also glanced at the indeed strange bandage. But knowing Chloe’s identity as a magical being, she helped cover for her.

“It’s just a unique bandage. It’s nothing special. You see stranger bandages at a comic convention.”

Liu Menglu chuckled as she said this, giving Chloe a wink.

Although Chloe wanted to tell Liu Menglu that there was no need to cover for her, she didn’t act rashly without confirming Yang Shishi’s true nature. She nodded in agreement with Liu Menglu’s explanation.

Seeing this, Liu Menglu let out a sigh of relief. She smiled and took out a paper plate and a toothpick from behind her back. The paper plate had four thumb-sized pieces of beef on it.

Chloe was a little curious. Liu Menglu explained, “This is a free sample from the meat section. See which one you like the best. If you like it, I’ll buy more to put in the fridge.”

Chloe didn’t expect that Liu Menglu would leave her in such a “dangerous place” just for this. She felt a little touched. To put it in the words from her memory, My daughter has finally grown up and knows how to care for me. Although Liu Menglu had always been very caring, this time was different.

But, for the sake of Liu Menglu, who didn’t have to squeeze into the crowd because of her, she wouldn’t hold a grudge against this little brat.

Liu Menglu, seeing this, just thought that Chloe was not used to crowds. She told Yang Shishi to buy a few more. When the group returned home, they were carrying large bags of groceries. Along the way, people around them couldn’t help but stare.

Even Liu Menglu, who was used to being stared at, couldn’t take it anymore. She leaned in toward Yang Shishi and complained in a low voice, “It’s all your fault. Why did you buy so much stuff? Can you even eat it all?”

Yang Shishi patted her chest with great enthusiasm. “Don’t you worry! I can guarantee that I’ll eat every last bit! I’m the Eater of the Universe, and the Eater of the Universe is me!”

Liu Menglu raised an eyebrow, ready to debunk her, but to her surprise, Chloe spoke first. “Gluttony is also one of the Seven Deadly Sins, and the Seven Deadly Sins are the most fundamental things that tempt humans to fall.”

At her words, the once-proud Yang Shishi was instantly defeated. She gave Chloe a resentful look, then looked pitifully at her friend.

With that, Liu Menglu grabbed her bags and quickly ran ahead, dodging Yang Shishi’s hand that was reaching for her shoulder.

Yang Shishi still wanted to catch Liu Menglu, but Chloe subtly stood between the two of them. Yang Shishi’s interest instantly vanished.

“Mengmeng, what time is dinner?” she asked lazily.

Liu Menglu looked at the ingredients on the table. After calculating, she said, “Before eight.”

“Then I’ll wait for you~”

“I know, I know. You’re the one who loves to eat!”

She complained with her words, but not long after, the aroma of food wafted from the kitchen.

Looking at the colorful and fragrant dishes on the table, Yang Shishi’s eyes were filled with undisguised happiness.

“I’m going to eat!”

With that, Yang Shishi picked up her chopsticks and began to feast. Every plate she ate from was left a mess, as if a hurricane had passed through.

Liu Menglu looked at her in disgust but still joined in the scramble for food. However, by that time, one-third of the large table of dishes had already disappeared.

Watching the two of them gobble down their food, Chloe held her chopsticks and occasionally picked up a piece of food.
