Dark-colored Fairy Tale: Seven Magicians - Chapter 21
Chapter 21
When Chloe was about 70% full, she unhurriedly put down her bowl and chopsticks, having no more desire for the delicious food in front of her.
Chloe, who had grown up in Fayalon, was disciplined.
The constant indoctrination was to never engage in any of the Seven Deadly Sins. The one that was easiest for people her age to be exposed to was gluttony. Therefore, to prevent this group from falling in the future, Fayalon’s education was strict. Because of this, Chloe put down her bowl and chopsticks the moment she felt 70% full.
The two others, still scrambling for food, looked at Chloe’s untouched bowl and chopsticks with curiosity.
Liu Menglu was the most concerned. “What’s wrong? Is it not to your taste?”
Chloe shook her head. “No, I’m just full.”
“But you only ate a little,” Liu Menglu said with worry, and more so, with self-blame. Did she not do a good job with this welcome dinner?
As if she could see Liu Menglu’s disappointment, Chloe explained, “The elders at home warned me to only eat until I’m 70% full.”
Liu Menglu blinked, not saying anything, but she felt that this elder was a little inhumane. Going to fight monsters every day and not even getting to eat until you’re full? That’s just abuse!
Thinking of this, Liu Menglu picked up a chicken leg that Yang Shishi had been eyeing and placed it in Chloe’s bowl, feeling a little heartbroken. “It’s okay. The elder isn’t here now. You can eat a little more, and she won’t find out.”
Chloe flatly refused. “A person must be self-disciplined.” With that, she meaningfully looked at Yang Shishi.
Yang Shishi was so annoyed she laughed. Without a word, she snatched the chicken leg and shoved it into her mouth, mumbling, “What’s the point of being a self-disciplined monk? A person should be carefree!”
“Carefree is a personality and attitude, not an excuse for you to eat like a pig,” Chloe glared at her.
Yang Shishi retorted mockingly, “Then have you become an immortal from being a monk?”
Chloe wasn’t annoyed. Instead, she said seriously, “Immortality is a lie. If someone tells you that, don’t fall for it.”
This time, Yang Shishi didn’t know what to say. She could only twitch her lips, her face sour!
Seeing the two of them acting like they were in a wrestling match, Liu Menglu quickly tried to play peacemaker. “Shishi, how’s the food I made today?”
“How is it?” Yang Shishi rubbed her bulging belly with a mischievous smile. “Mengmeng, look, I’m pregnant with your child. At least three months along.”
Liu Menglu casually tilted her head and played along. “What kind of hybrid is in there? Chicken and duck? Or preserved vegetables, sausage, and leeks?”
“Of course, it’s preserved vegetables! And it’s personally prepared by Cuihua~”
Hearing this, Chloe raised an eyebrow. The plate of preserved vegetables was the one she had set on the table.
Liu Menglu also remembered this and laughed heartily. “Chloe, so your Chinese name is Cuihua?”
Chloe remembered a scene from her memory and suddenly said, “How about we add a Chinese surname? Wang.”
Liu Menglu was just trying to tease Chloe, but she didn’t expect Chloe to respond to her joke!
“Hehe.” Liu Menglu was a little surprised and didn’t know how to respond. She could only give a slightly silly smile and walked directly into the kitchen. As for the conflict between Yang Shishi and Chloe? Was there one? She didn’t know anything about it.
“Hey, you guys, wait a minute. I’ve made some hawthorn soup for digestion. Drink some,” Liu Menglu said, disappearing into the kitchen.
Seeing Liu Menglu go into the kitchen, Chloe looked at Yang Shishi, her voice cold.
“You’re not a magical being.”
Yang Shishi nodded, not hiding anything, and even showing some annoyance on her face.
“That stuff is too hard and too tiring. I’m not happy doing it. Isn’t it better to just go home and inherit a fortune of 20 billion?”
Chloe didn’t make any conclusions about this. She just asked another question that she felt was crucial. “Then how have you known about magical beings for so long?”
When Chloe first joined the organization, she was told that the lives of magical beings and ordinary people were two separate worlds that did not interfere with each other. Even if an ordinary person occasionally came into contact with a magical being, with the passage of time, the memories of the magical being and the events they experienced would slowly be forgotten and even replaced by other memories.
This was a correction of the law for the world. It largely ensured the secrecy of magical beings and also created a long chasm between magical beings and humans. No one could cross the line.
But now, an ordinary person who wasn’t a magical being knew about magical beings for a long time without any long-term contact and could even tell that Chloe was a magical being without knowing her identity. This was highly abnormal.
“Who are you?” Chloe’s golden eyes deepened, like a beast about to kill someone.
Yang Shishi looked at her, her expression calm. She said unhurriedly, “Me? I should be your sweet little baby~”
“CRACK!” The bowl on the table fell and shattered.
Chloe retracted her hand, her expression icy. Her eyes were full of menace as she looked at Yang Shishi.
Seeing this, Yang Shishi quickly raised her hands above her head in a gesture of surrender. “Don’t be angry, don’t be angry. I’ll talk, okay?”
With that, Yang Shishi glanced at the kitchen. Seeing that Liu Menglu was still busy, she leaned in toward Chloe and whispered, “You should know that magical beings can have children, right?”
This time, it was Chloe’s turn to be confused. Magical beings can get married? She really didn’t know about this.
Looking at the obviously clueless Chloe, Yang Shishi sighed. “Okay, I forgot you’re only 16, a half-year younger than me.”
With that, Yang Shishi gave her a helpless lesson. “Actually, in China, it’s very common for magical beings to get married and have children. After all, magical beings in China are descendants of magical families. And I am the daughter of a magical being.”
With that, Yang Shishi pulled a red string from her neck. A triangular talisman was hanging from it.
“See? This is the perk of being the daughter of a magical being.” With that, Yang Shishi even shook the talisman hanging from her neck.
This kind of yellow talisman that she was wearing was developed in China. Although it wasn’t a sacrifice, it was easy to carry, didn’t take up the space of a sacrifice, and had all sorts of abilities, such as healing, lightning, and more.
Most importantly, the talisman could be used by an ordinary person, which greatly ensured the safety of the current magical being’s family. So it was very popular in China.
In other countries, because most of the magical beings’ friends were also magical beings, and due to the different emphasis on relationships compared to China, this talisman was not widely known abroad.
So it was normal that Chloe didn’t know about it. However, not knowing about it didn’t mean she was clueless. Looking at the inverted triangular talisman, some information about yellow talismans and sacrifices flashed in her mind. This was what that perverted drunkard had told her.
