Dark-colored Fairy Tale: Seven Magicians - Chapter 25
Chapter 25
Looking at the smiling octopus sausage in the bento box, Chloe picked it up with her chopsticks and put it back into Liu Menglu’s bento.
Liu Menglu looked at Chloe in confusion.
Chloe said in a low voice, “No gluttony.”
Liu Menglu looked at the little octopus sausage that wasn’t even enough to get stuck in her teeth and shrugged. “It’s just one. Do you have to be so particular?”
Chloe, however, said to her in a very serious tone, “It’s a must. Human desires accumulate from self-indulgence.”
With that, Chloe ate all the little octopus sausages in her own bento and closed her lunch box.
Liu Menglu’s eyes narrowed, and a sly smile appeared on her face. Chloe is still too young. It’s time to teach her a lesson.
…
In the afternoon class, the two of them were inseparable, which made everyone in the class a little stunned.
Lu Yuting didn’t know when Liu Menglu and the transfer student had become so close. She found a good time to approach them and asked, “Did you two know each other before? You seem so close.”
Liu Menglu nodded, her blue eyes full of smiles. “Because she’s my lifesaver. Of course, I have to be extra good to her to repay her for saving my life.”
Hearing this, Lu Yuting’s expression stiffened. She apologized and left with a pale face.
Lu Yuting’s sudden action made Liu Menglu a little lost. What happened? Did I say something wrong just now?
Liu Menglu was planning to apologize to her when she saw her tomorrow, but she never expected that Lu Yuting would be the first one to say hello the next day.
Lu Yuting was a delicate-looking girl. At this moment, she was wearing a well-tailored school uniform, her face flushed as she stood in front of Liu Menglu’s desk. If their relationship hadn’t been so bad before, Liu Menglu would have thought that Lu Yuting was going to confess to her.
Seeing Lu Yuting’s hesitant demeanor and her inability to speak, Liu Menglu couldn’t help but speak first. “Is there something you need?”
Lu Yuting pursed her lips and didn’t say anything until a moment later, when she awkwardly took out a bento box from her bag and placed it in front of Liu Menglu.
Then, she said pretending to be nonchalant, “I made an extra one yesterday. If you don’t mind, you can try it.”
Although she really wanted to say this in a casual manner, if you ignored the slight tremor in her voice, the effect might have been better.
Liu Menglu found it a little strange but didn’t refuse the other person’s kindness.
“Okay, then I’ll give it a try. If it’s not good, I’ll return it to you,” Liu Menglu joked casually.
But for some reason, she felt that Lu Yuting looked even more nervous after hearing her joke.
However, she still maintained her nonchalant, slightly arrogant demeanor. “How could the food I make be bad? Even if it is, you’re not allowed to return it.”
“Isn’t that a bully’s contract? I didn’t ask you to make me food. I don’t want it,” Liu Menglu said, pretending to give the bento box back.
Lu Yuting’s expression instantly tensed up. She bit her lip, staring at Liu Menglu’s outstretched hand, wanting to turn around and leave. But as a proud girl, she didn’t want to flee in such a state, so she could only stand there stiffly.
In fact, Liu Menglu had been watching Lu Yuting the whole time.
Seeing her unwillingness, her flushed face, and her stubborn little demeanor, Liu Menglu’s heart softened. But on top of that softness was a hint of subtle mischief.
So, she placed her hand on the bento box and slowly pushed it toward Lu Yuting. Seeing Lu Yuting biting her lip so hard she looked like she was about to cry, Liu Menglu let out a chuckle.
Lu Yuting was bewildered when she heard the laughter. Liu Menglu took this opportunity to bring the bento box in front of her. She opened it, looked at the beautiful and fragrant bento, and took a light sniff. It smelled surprisingly good.
“I didn’t expect you to have such skills,” Liu Menglu praised without any pretense.
Lu Yuting was confused by Liu Menglu’s sudden change in attitude. By the time she realized she had been tricked and wanted to throw a tantrum, the class bell rang.
Seeing the teacher about to enter the classroom, Lu Yuting could only glare at Liu Menglu, snort, and return to her seat.
Throughout the morning, Liu Menglu found that as long as she looked in Lu Yuting’s direction, she would see a pair of eyes staring back at her.
At lunchtime, Liu Menglu took Lu Yuting’s bento and went to the balcony with Chloe. The hostile glare only disappeared for a little while.
On the balcony, feeling the warmth of the sun and the coolness of the breeze, Liu Menglu opened the bento box that Lu Yuting had given her this morning.
The bento looked really good. There were two beautiful meatballs, a golden-fried chicken leg, and a small plate of refreshing cucumber slices. The meat and vegetables were well-balanced, and the colors were unexpectedly beautiful.
Chloe glanced at the bento, then at her own two, and uncharacteristically spoke up. “Which one are you eating today?”
Liu Menglu wiggled the light-pink bento box in her hand and said, “Of course, I’m eating this one. It’s rare for someone to make me a bento. If I don’t eat it, wouldn’t I be wasting her kindness?”
Chloe nodded. She had no objection to this. She looked at her own beautifully made, well-balanced bento, said a casual thanks, and began her lunch.
Liu Menglu saw that there was still some food left in Chloe’s bento yesterday, so she purposely made a little less today and made a few different things. Sure enough, when Chloe was 70% full, the food in her bento was just finished. Liu Menglu smiled with satisfaction.
At the same time, Lu Yuting, who was eating her bento in the classroom, was a little distracted.
Because it was her first time making a bento for Liu Menglu, the amount of food in her bento was a little insufficient.
Liu Menglu hadn’t eaten her fill yet, so she picked up her own bento box. And because she was taught from a young age not to waste food, Liu Menglu didn’t want her bento to be left over. So even after eating her usual 80% full, she still didn’t stop eating.
The portions in both bento boxes didn’t look like much, but in reality, it was more than Liu Menglu could handle.
By the time she had a little less than half of her bento left, Liu Menglu finally couldn’t eat anymore.
She patted her round belly and joked to Chloe, “I was just thinking if she had any bad intentions by giving me this bento. Now I know. She wants to stuff me to death.”
Chloe, who disliked people overeating, frowned, seeing that Liu Menglu had eaten so much this time.
