Dark-colored Fairy Tale: Seven Magicians - Chapter 27
Chapter 27
Liu Menglu looked at Chloe’s confused expression and couldn’t hold back. She hugged her and rubbed her cheek against hers.
In the past, Chloe would never have been hugged by this flirtatious girl, but now her body and mind were suffering from the torment of mathematics.
She wasn’t paying attention, and Liu Menglu caught her in a full embrace. Her body went stiff, and she didn’t move.
This made Liu Menglu laugh. In the past, Liu Menglu and Chloe’s relationship was good, but it was never this close.
But on the balcony, their conversation clarified their positions while also accepting each other’s existence. It was that moment that created their close intimacy.
I feel like Chloe is finally getting a little more down-to-earth.
“How is it? I told you math is hard, didn’t I? Are you sure you don’t want me to teach you?” Liu Menglu’s tone was teasing.
Chloe silently raised her head and shook it firmly. “No need. I can figure it out.”
Seeing that a certain someone wouldn’t give up until they hit a wall, Liu Menglu raised an eyebrow and kindly placed her notebook, which was from a higher grade, in front of Chloe.
“Math needs a foundation. Start with the basics. Maybe you’ll understand it after reading through it.”
Chloe didn’t refuse Liu Menglu’s kindness. She took Liu Menglu’s notebook and once again dove into the math problems.
Lu Yuting was sitting to Liu Menglu’s left. She looked at Chloe’s stubbornness and pouted.
“Are you really not going to teach her? She hasn’t even mastered the basics yet. How can she possibly pass the exam in a week?”
Liu Menglu just patted Lu Yuting’s shoulder with a strange smile.
“It’s okay. I believe she can do it, but…”
Seeing Liu Menglu say half of what she was going to say and then approach her with a mischievous smile, Lu Yuting quickly hugged her textbook and took a few steps back.
“What are you doing?” Her voice was full of caution.
“I’m not going to eat you, am I?” Liu Menglu chuckled. She put her arm around Lu Yuting’s shoulder. “Actually, I’m just a little curious about why you’re being so nice to me today.”
“I’m not being nice at all! You’re talking nonsense!” Lu Yuting immediately retorted.
How could she be nice to her rival? They were competitors!
Seeing Lu Yuting’s face turn red and her desperately shrinking back, Liu Menglu leaned in even more interestedly. “Tell me, tell me. You’ve never brought me a bento before.”
Seeing that Liu Menglu wouldn’t let go and wouldn’t stop until she got an answer, Lu Yuting gritted her teeth and said, “Thank you for what you did when I ran into those human traffickers.”
This time, it was Liu Menglu’s turn to be stunned. She wanted to ask what human traffickers, but she closed her mouth right before she asked. This must be related to magical beings again.
She really wanted to keep her mouth shut and not talk about that day. After all, that demon had almost become her nightmare. But looking at the girl’s slightly red, stubborn face, she still smiled and said, “It’s nothing. It’s everyone’s duty to do what’s right.”
Lu Yuting looked deeply at Liu Menglu and pursed her lips.
It seemed like she had something more to say—
“CRACK!” “BAM!“
Chloe’s desk exploded!!!???
The huge noise instantly attracted the attention of the entire class. Looking at the chaotic mess of a desk, Liu Menglu quickly went forward. She let out a huge sigh of relief when she saw that Chloe had no injuries or scratches.
Her tone was worried but also reproachful. “How can you be so careless? Didn’t you know to step back when the desk broke? You were lucky you weren’t hurt this time. What are you going to do if you get hurt next time?”
Chloe looked at the collapsed desk, feeling a little guilty. She hadn’t intentionally damaged public property. If she hadn’t been so angry about not being able to solve that math problem, this wouldn’t have happened.
“Sorry,” Chloe said, standing still, looking a little helpless.
Liu Menglu, who had wanted to use this opportunity to lecture Chloe, instantly softened her heart. “It’s okay. I’m guessing this desk was old and in disrepair. It has nothing to do with you. As long as you’re okay, that’s all that matters.”
Chloe didn’t think so. She knew how much force she had used to completely break the desk.
Since it was her own fault, Chloe didn’t try to escape responsibility. She told Liu Menglu that she would go to the teacher and confess what happened and take on the cost of the desk’s replacement.
Liu Menglu wanted to say no, but seeing Chloe’s determined eyes, Liu Menglu agreed. She and Chloe went to the control room to get a new desk.
Along the way, Chloe was in a low mood. As a top student at Fayalon, her math skills were so bad. It was too embarrassing.
Liu Menglu carried the desk and comforted her. “Math is a very complex subject. It’s normal for you not to understand it now without a foundation. I’ll help you review the basics from the first year tonight.”
Chloe wanted to refuse. After all, she had just boasted. But thinking of the various symbols on the math problems that seemed like astronomical figures, she finally gave in. It was better to cram now than to get a big fat zero on the exam.
The new desk was set up, and the class bell rang. Liu Menglu and Chloe sat down again. Coincidentally, this class was also math. The math teacher didn’t teach new material. Instead, she reviewed the problems from the last class.
Liu Menglu had already mastered these problems and was a little bored. When she turned her head to look at Chloe, she saw that Chloe’s serious expression was filled with confusion.
Liu Menglu blinked and smiled. Even though she was a magical being, she was still essentially a competitive little girl.
She pretended to have a sore throat and lightly coughed a few times. Chloe looked over with a worried expression. She was always extremely concerned about Liu Menglu’s health.
Seeing that Chloe had walked right into her trap, Liu Menglu chuckled and leaned in, whispering into her ear, “The problems the teacher is explaining are all advanced math. You haven’t even learned the basics yet, so it’s natural that you can’t understand them. Take out the notebook I gave you, and I’ll help you with your studies.”
Chloe was a little tempted, but she still gave up on that enticing idea. She whispered back, “Although I really don’t understand what the teacher is saying, not understanding and not listening are two different things and attitudes. I don’t want to disappoint the teacher.”
After saying this, Chloe raised her head again and focused on the inhuman symbols on the blackboard.
Liu Menglu already knew Chloe’s rigid little personality well. She wasn’t too disappointed, but because she knew all the problems the teacher was explaining, Liu Menglu couldn’t help but get a little distracted.
Although Chloe had rejected Liu Menglu’s suggestion, she was still watching Liu Menglu.
Now, seeing Liu Menglu so disappointed, she felt a little guilty.
Chloe quietly moved closer to Liu Menglu, gently bumped her arm to get her attention, and then spoke again.
“Actually, if it’s okay…”
