Dark-colored Fairy Tale: Seven Magicians - Chapter 30
Chapter 30
Chloe nodded. Naturally, it was, since she had always only eaten until she was 70% full.
Seeing Chloe agree with her point of view again, Liu Menglu breathed another sigh of relief.
Her emotions gradually calmed down. Although she had indeed planned to bluff the other party from the beginning, a good bluff required substance.
So, while racking her brain, Liu Menglu tried her best to combine the concept of ‘knowing yourself and knowing your enemy’ with various real-life examples. She then used sophistry to instill it into Chloe’s mind, all while slowly tidying up her own logic to avoid any loopholes.
Perhaps it was because of her natural eloquence, but the once-skeptical Chloe actually agreed after Liu Menglu had finished her explanation!
This made Liu Menglu feel like crying tears of joy. It wasn’t easy!
In the future, she would absolutely not, out of her own kindness, lead someone to do things that didn’t align with their upbringing and beliefs.
After all, she couldn’t guarantee that she would successfully bluff a person into submission every time. And Liu Menglu had a feeling that after Chloe was successfully bluffed, she might be in for some bad luck.
And things indeed went as she expected.
The next day, Liu Menglu saw the once-diligent and serious student Chloe, who would work hard on her math and adamantly refuse her help, was now—copying homework!
Oh, no. It’s over. This thought flashed through Liu Menglu’s mind, and she was on the verge of tears.
“Chlo… Chloe? What are you doing?” Liu Menglu asked, pretending she didn’t know, her voice filled with hesitation.
Is this really Chloe?!
Three days ago, even though Chloe knew nothing, she would still study by herself and complete her homework independently, refusing her help countless times. But today…
Chloe, who was intently copying her homework, heard the movement behind her. She didn’t even raise her head, letting the black hair next to her cheek rest on the homework. Her slender hand held a fountain pen, scribbling non-stop.
Seeing how focused Chloe was on copying, Liu Menglu had a thousand questions but could only hold them in her heart. She went to the kitchen to make two breakfasts.
After she finished making breakfast and brought the two plates in front of Chloe, she wanted to have a serious discussion with her about copying homework.
However, before she could even open her mouth, Chloe took both plates of breakfast and placed them in front of herself. She then finished both breakfasts in a flash, and without a care for her image, she rubbed her stomach.
Looking at the unkempt and completely unmotivated Chloe, Liu Menglu felt her worldview was being shattered.
What made the once diligent and meticulous magical being girl become so lazy?!
Chloe didn’t seem to notice Liu Menglu’s heartbroken expression. She licked her lips and continued to copy her homework.
For a moment, Liu Menglu had a million thoughts, but in the end, all her words were reduced to “hehe.”
It was at this moment that Chloe finally looked at Liu Menglu properly. Her once cool voice now had a strange, yet very firm, tone.
“I think what you said yesterday made a lot of sense.”
Liu Menglu: ???
A moment later, Liu Menglu remembered her bluff. Looking at Chloe, who was exuding laziness, Liu Menglu’s heart trembled.
If I told her now that everything I said yesterday was just a bluff, she would definitely kill me, right?
I’m going to be killed!!!
Thinking of Chloe’s skills, Liu Menglu voluntarily shut her mouth. She then saw Chloe’s perfect, delicate face filled with a serious expression.
“So I’ve decided to take your advice. I will ‘know myself and know my enemy’ to completely eradicate all demons in the world, and even the original evil gods that cause them to fall.”
The dark golden eyes, which had been calm due to her peaceful mood, suddenly burst with a fierce heat, so brilliant that it was hard to look at them directly.
At this moment, Liu Menglu suddenly understood. This girl truly hated demons. Because of her hatred, she wanted to understand them and destroy them.
She was even willing to break her principles of many years, just because Liu Menglu had said, ‘know yourself and know your enemy, and you’ll never be defeated.’
And it was precisely because she understood this that Liu Menglu was filled with immense guilt.
She shouldn’t have bluffed Chloe just to get her to eat more, even if her intentions were good.
A lie is a lie!
She should apologize.
Liu Menglu wasn’t one to run away. When she realized her mistake, she immediately corrected her attitude and was about to say “I’m sorry,” but before she could, she saw Chloe’s eyes narrowing in sleepiness while she was copying her homework.
Liu Menglu was stunned, then sighed. The apology would have to wait.
Chloe hadn’t had a good rest in over a week. If this continued, even a body of iron would break down.
She would apologize later. For now, she should let her rest. All this complicated homework was too much for Chloe.
With this thought, Chloe’s eyebrows softened. She smiled gently. “I believe you’ll definitely succeed!”
Hearing this encouragement, the half-asleep Chloe immediately woke up. She rubbed her eyes, looked at the completed homework, and then slumped to the side. Her golden eyes held a hint of a plea.
Liu Menglu immediately understood and helplessly went over to help her tidy up the messy textbooks.
Just as she got to Chloe’s side, Liu Menglu felt hungry. She then remembered that her breakfast had been stolen just now.
So, she asked jokingly, “Weren’t you full from yesterday? Why did you decide to steal my breakfast today?”
Liu Menglu had intended to use this opportunity to tease Chloe. After all, a Chloe with human feelings only truly looked like a sixteen-year-old girl when she blushed.
However, Chloe, who had been successfully bluffed, said to her very seriously, “I was experiencing four of the Seven Deadly Sins: pride, sloth, greed, and gluttony.”
Liu Menglu: “???”
Chloe explained in a serious tone, “Look, I just didn’t say hi to you and stole your food. Isn’t that pride? Why did I steal your food? Because I wanted both portions, so that’s greed. Finally, I got stuffed after eating both portions, which is gluttony.”
“I experienced three of the Seven Deadly Sins through one action. Do you think I have talent?”
“And! I also copied your homework just now. I was supposed to do it myself, but I copied yours, which is sloth, one of the Seven Deadly Sins. So this morning, I experienced four of the Seven Deadly Sins.”
Liu Menglu looked at the homework, then at her empty plate, and her face was filled with despair.
Mom, I was wrong. I will never bluff people again. She was such a good girl before, but I completely bluffed her into this.
Liu Menglu’s face was bitter. Chloe looked at her seriously and said, “How do you think I did with the experience? When can I truly master ‘knowing myself and knowing my enemy, and never being defeated’?”
