Dark-colored Fairy Tale: Seven Magicians - Chapter 6
Chapter 6
“Are you kidding me?!” Yang Shishi rolled her eyes.
Liu Menglu narrowed her eyes and smiled.
Liu Menglu’s smile was especially beautiful. Her blue eyes sparkled like they were filled with a galaxy of stars. Paired with her soft, chestnut-brown hair, she looked both radiant and gentle.
Some said that Liu Menglu’s smile was like the smile of spring, unforgettable and warming the heart.
Others said her smile was like that of Bao Si, who made King You of Zhou light the beacon fires to amuse her. For a beauty’s smile, what does it matter to lose the kingdom?
Yang Shishi had never believed that before, but today, seeing that smile, she couldn’t help but cover her face. Alright, I believe it now.
“Stop smiling, or there won’t be any living people left in our class.”
Liu Menglu blinked in confusion. After making her friend’s face blush with cuteness, she turned to look around and saw that both boys and girls were blushing, covering their noses, and trying desperately to breathe through their mouths.
Their pitiable and hilarious appearance instantly made Liu Menglu burst into laughter.
She rubbed her face and then showed her usual approachable smile. “Alright, everyone, hurry and check your homework. It’s time for morning self-study. The teacher will be here soon, and she’ll complain if you’re not studying.”
With that, Liu Menglu sat down, took out her book, and began to read quietly.
After a few moments of recovery, the classmates finally lowered their hands, but their faces were still red, and they didn’t dare to look at Liu Menglu, who was sitting there.
Lu Yuting, who had been watching the situation in the class, had an extremely grim expression. She knew that she had already lost before even competing with Liu Menglu.
Looking at the mirror in her hand and the makeup she had been so proud of, Lu Yuting felt like a complete fool for wasting two months on it.
CRASH!
The crisp sound of a mirror shattering on the classroom floor echoed loudly.
Liu Menglu simply raised her eyebrow in confusion, then didn’t say a word.
The students in the class, however, started to whisper.
“What is she doing? She scared me.”
“I think she’s just jealous of Lady Mengmeng. Didn’t you see she just put on makeup today?”
“Ugly people just cause trouble. Just ignore her.”
Listening to the endless whispers around her, Lu Yuting found them incredibly grating. She bit her lip tightly, lowered her head, and stormed out of the classroom.
Liu Menglu looked at the shattered mirror pieces, sighed, picked up a broom, and swept up the mess. When she got back to her seat, she suddenly saw a mirror shard stuck in the crack of her chair.
This discovery made Liu Menglu frown. She crouched down, carefully picked up the shard, and was about to throw it in the trash can.
Just then, Lu Yuting, with water dripping from her hair, rushed back into the classroom. Seeing the mirror shard in Liu Menglu’s hand, she instinctively shouted.
“What are you doing? Are you trying to harm me with that thing?!”
Liu Menglu was startled by the sudden voice. Her fingers slipped, and the sharp shard sliced her fingertip.
The sharp pain, a direct connection to her heart, made Liu Menglu wince. A small stream of bl00d dripped from her fingertip onto the floor, blooming into tiny red plum blossoms.
Lu Yuting instinctively scoffed. “Serves you right! You were trying to use that thing to harm me, and now you’re getting what you deserve.”
Before Liu Menglu could retort, Yang Shishi jumped up. “What are you talking about?! Our Mengmeng saw that shard stuck in your chair and was afraid you’d get hurt, so she was kindly trying to take it out for you.”
“You’re like a person who bites the hand that feeds them, completely ungrateful!”
With that, Yang Shishi looked at the wound on Liu Menglu’s hand with a pained expression and quickly took out a tissue to wrap it up.
Lu Yuting looked at Liu Menglu’s gentle expression, then at her bleeding fingertip. She pursed her lips and hesitantly dug a bandage out of her bag and threw it over.
Meeting Liu Menglu’s confused eyes, Lu Yuting said defiantly, “What are you looking at? I’m just doing this so people don’t yell at me.”
With that, Lu Yuting snorted, turned her head away, and mumbled under her breath.
“Even if you helped me, I’ll still keep competing with you. I will definitely surpass you!”
Liu Menglu had never taken Lu Yuting’s childish provocations to heart, but the person in front of her now was starting to make her feel a little uncomfortable.
“Mengmeng… I’m sorry, Liu, I apologize. My sister caused you trouble again today.”
Liu Menglu frowned slightly, not liking the sight of the boy in front of her with his delicate features and sunny smile.
This person was named Lu Yumo, Lu Yuting’s older brother. He seemed like a nice, gentle person.
Every time Lu Yuting caused trouble, Lu Yumo would come to apologize personally. He seemed like a genuinely good person, but Liu Menglu just didn’t like him.
She didn’t know why, but maybe it was because Liu Menglu felt a brother shouldn’t treat his sister like that.
Because of this, Liu Menglu had always been distant with him, but for some reason, he was very persistent in his attempts to get close to her, which made Liu Menglu very uncomfortable.
Forcing a polite smile, Liu Menglu said, “It’s nothing. It’s just a silly fight between girls. Maybe they’ll be fine in a few days. If you don’t need anything else, I’ll be going.”
Lu Yumo politely made way for her. Liu Menglu nodded and quickly left.
Shortly after Liu Menglu left, Lu Yuting appeared in front of Lu Yumo. She asked him with a sour expression, “Did you come here to apologize to her again?”
Lu Yumo gave Lu Yuting a cold side glance. His formerly straight posture instantly became lazy, and he looked like a person who had lost all his vitality, saying carelessly, “What does it matter to you? Go home and cook for me.”
“Why should I?! What, are you going to starve to death if I don’t?!” Lu Yuting yelled.
Lu Yumo just walked forward quickly, his threats not missing a beat. “If you don’t hurry, I’ll go back and have Mother beat you.”
Upon hearing this, Lu Yuting bit down hard on her lower lip until she tasted bl00d. With a resentful glance at the spot where Liu Menglu had left, she ran to catch up with her brother.
The smell of cooking oil filled the air, making her cough. The kitchen’s temperature soared from the fire. In a moment, Lu Yuting was drenched in sweat.
She kept coughing, tears stinging her eyes. After she finally finished cooking, Lu Yumo only took one bite and made a disgusted face.
“What is this? Even a dog wouldn’t eat it!”
Lu Yuting clenched her fists without saying a word.
Lu Yumo continued to be critical. “I don’t know what you are. You’re ugly, you’re bad at school, and you can’t even cook. Look at how wet you are; it’s disgusting. You’re nothing like Liu Menglu. She’s beautiful every day, she’s good at school, has a good temper, and her family is rich.”
Thinking of this, Lu Yumo’s heart stirred, and he disliked Lu Yuting even more.
