Dark-colored Fairy Tale: Seven Magicians - Chapter 63
Chapter 63
Her voice was so happy, yet it sounded so sad.
Even though Chloe didn’t like Yang Shishi, she spoke up.
“Is it that serious?”
“It’s not that it’s serious,” Yang Shishi said, leaning back into the sofa, her posture lazy and her eyes unfocused. “When I was in treatment, I kept thinking about Mengmeng, so my early treatment was very successful, but…”
Yang Shishi hesitated for a moment, then continued, “According to my family’s rules, for the safety of ordinary people and our friends, we have to be in isolation in a separate yard for three days. After three days, we can have contact with people under the watchful eyes of a family magical girl, and finally, we can have contact with our friends. I had no problems with the first few steps, but in the final step, when I had contact with Mengmeng, I felt the demonic energy in my heart increase explosively.”
After saying that, Yang Shishi’s eyes were filled with confusion. She didn’t really understand why this was happening. Liu Menglu was her favorite person, the person she was most fond of and most looked forward to seeing, but in the classroom, she didn’t know why she couldn’t control her temper and didn’t want to get close to Liu Menglu.
Although their relationship seemed to be going well now, Yang Shishi understood her current situation.
She was like a volcano on the verge of erupting. She looked incredibly calm, but if she wasn’t careful, she would erupt instantly.
Chloe frowned. She had never encountered anything like this. “For an unknown reason?”
Yang Shishi nodded.
“Did you encounter any strange people on the way, or hear any strange sounds?”
After listening to Yang Shishi’s story, Chloe remembered what Li Qiuyu had said about the new type of demon when she left that day.
Yang Shishi guessed that Chloe must have discovered something. She frowned and pondered.
“I walked the same route I always do that day, there was nothing special about it. But I think I heard a children’s song, but it disappeared very quickly.”
Chloe’s frown deepened. “I’ll find a time to visit your house.”
Yang Shishi naturally wouldn’t refuse. Who would want to disappear from this world if there was hope for life, especially if after death even their closest people wouldn’t remember their existence?
The two of them, in a back-and-forth, set the date for Sunday to go to Yang Shishi’s house. Just then, Liu Menglu came out with the fruit. She placed Chloe’s favorite dragon fruit in front of Chloe and Yang Shishi’s favorite in front of Yang Shishi, then she asked,
“What were you two chatting about? You looked pretty happy.”
When she said this, Liu Menglu felt a little suffocated for some reason, as if her best friends had betrayed her.
But this thought was immediately pushed down by Liu Menglu.
Yang Shishi and Chloe were very secretive about things in the magical world and didn’t want Liu Menglu to be involved. They looked at each other and spoke at the same time.
“We were talking about math problems.”
“We were talking about tonight’s dinner.”
The different excuses led to an awkward silence between Yang Shishi and Chloe, but Liu Menglu didn’t mind.
Instead, she smiled and said, “It’s rare for you two to be so calm and not arguing.”
Yang Shishi didn’t reply. Instead, she looked at the time and prepared to leave.
“It’s getting late. I should probably go back now.” As for the math problems they had agreed to do, no normal person does math problems at night.
Looking at her friend who wanted to leave after eating and drinking to her heart’s content, a vein popped in Liu Menglu’s forehead. “You’re leaving?”
Yang Shishi nodded, her face showing, “Yes, that’s right, I’m leaving.”
“Didn’t we say we were going to do math problems?” Liu Menglu said with a smile.
“Math problems?” Yang Shishi scoffed. “Who does math problems when they’re a normal person?”
After saying that, she looked at Chloe. “Are you doing math problems?”
Chloe, who also didn’t want to do math problems, shook her head in cooperation. “I’m not.”
Seeing this, Yang Shishi looked at Liu Menglu and said with a smile, “See? Chloe isn’t doing them, and I’m not either. I’m going home.”
Liu Menglu didn’t say anything. She just took the key and locked the door, looking at Yang Shishi with a kind smile. “What did you just say?”
Yang Shishi looked at the key in Liu Menglu’s hand, then at Chloe sitting on the sofa, and quickly pulled her into the battle line to redirect the fire.
“Chloe just said she’s not doing math problems either.”
“I didn’t say that. I said I’ll write them later.”
Are you kidding me? Chloe would not let the fire fall on herself. As the saying goes, “better to let your friends die than to suffer yourself.” She wasn’t that stupid.
Yang Shishi shed a tear of shock at a certain person’s betrayal.
Along with that came Chloe’s little petty behavior of adding fuel to the fire.
“Mengmeng, look at this person. She’s so shameless. All she wants to do is mooch off our food.”
Hearing that, Liu Menglu looked at a certain someone who was tugging at her clothes in an attempt to get by. She didn’t say anything.
Five minutes later…
Chloe and Yang Shishi looked at each other with mutual disdain, as well as the math workbooks in their hands.
Chloe, who was awakened by her alarm, only felt groggy.
She shouldn’t have done those cursed math problems. All her dreams yesterday were about math problems.
“Aiai, it’s time to eat.”
Liu Menglu’s voice came from outside. Chloe opened her eyes and looked at the ceiling, not wanting to get up.
“Aiai?” As she passed Chloe’s door, Liu Menglu called out again in confusion.
“I’m up.” After crawling out of bed listlessly, Chloe suddenly understood why so many people were addicted to the seven deadly sins.
It was just too comfortable.
However, as a magical girl, Chloe still had self-control. After only five minutes of dawdling, Chloe slowly walked out of the room.
At this time, the hardworking Liu Menglu had already made breakfast and arranged it on the table.
Looking at the quite luxurious breakfast, Chloe suddenly felt a sense of extravagance.
Although they had rich breakfasts before, those were things that were not made with care and could only be called assembly-line products. How could they compare to the delicious food Liu Menglu made herself?
Picking up a sandwich from the table, Chloe took a big, happy bite.
“Nom—nom—mm, delicious.”
“Slow down, no one’s going to steal it from you,” Liu Menglu said, feeling a sense of satisfaction in her helplessness.
She sat on the other side of the table, resting her chin on her hand, her eyes gentle.
Chloe naturally knew that no one was going to steal it from her, but she was just too attached to this feeling.
When you wake up, someone has made breakfast for you. Their eyes are always filled with gentleness and affection, there is no urgency of battle or the rigidity of orders, only that kind of warmth she had always known about but had never felt, a warmth called “home.”
