Dark-colored Fairy Tale: Seven Magicians - Chapter 74
Chapter 74
That was the sound of a demonic core shattering. Seeing this, Li Qiuyu flipped her hand and the White Emperor Sword returned to her, pristine and unstained. Using the momentum from drawing her sword, Li Qiuyu’s body shot backward.
The demon belatedly looked down, its hand clutching its chest helplessly. It didn’t understand why it had lost, but with its demonic core shattered, it would soon vanish. In its final moments, it seemed to long for something, and it looked toward the west.
Li Qiuyu naturally noticed this. She looked in that direction, as if searching, or perhaps it was just an unconscious act.
Regardless, Li Qiuyu remembered that direction, intending to go there and investigate after everything was over.
With the battle concluded, Li Qiuyu finally had time to look at the terrified girl.
The girl’s appearance wasn’t particularly striking, but when you looked at her, you’d find her features were incredibly pleasant.
She was a demure beauty with a refined air.
“Are you okay? Can you walk? I’ll take you out of here,” Li Qiuyu said, stepping forward to comfort her.
The girl didn’t answer. She just stared blankly ahead, seemingly wanting to scream, but fear had robbed her of her voice.
Li Qiuyu was always at a loss when dealing with ordinary people like this and could only wait for the medical team to arrive.
She turned to check on the slain demon, but in the next second, Li Qiuyu’s heart suddenly throbbed with unease.
Almost instinctively, Li Qiuyu spun around. The girl’s face had changed; two strange, circular patches of blush had appeared on her cheeks.
As if she had suddenly realized something, Li Qiuyu was about to flee when the sinister girl grabbed her wrist.
In the next instant, the girl, without hesitation, plunged a knife she had conjured from nowhere deep into Li Qiuyu’s abdomen.
The knife in the girl’s hand was long, running completely through Li Qiuyu’s stomach.
Pain washed over her, and Li Qiuyu clutched her stomach, but her eyes darted around. It didn’t matter if she died.
Where was that girl, the one who had been replaced by a demon?
The demon’s eyes were fixed on Li Qiuyu, seeming dissatisfied that Li Qiuyu hadn’t screamed. It twisted the knife in its hand, cruelly carving out a piece of Li Qiuyu’s flesh.
The intense pain forced a gasp from Li Qiuyu’s lips, a cry of agony that shattered in the air.
The demon instantly became gleeful, cackling maliciously. It yanked the knife out and, in the next second, plunged it into a new spot.
Then, the demon watched Li Qiuyu expectantly, but this time Li Qiuyu bit down hard on her lower lip.
Bl00d trickled from her mouth—she had bitten her lip—but not a sound escaped her.
The demon seemed to get angry and pulled the knife out again.
When Chloe arrived, she first saw Li Qiuyu being held by a pale-skinned girl, bl00d all over her stomach. She looked seriously injured. However, what surprised Chloe was that Li Qiuyu hadn’t fought back.
Although the situation was unclear, seeing Li Qiuyu on the verge of death, Chloe didn’t hesitate and charged forward.
The Parasite’s Spear suddenly appeared in her hand, and she slashed fiercely at the girl’s waist.
Li Qiuyu’s thoughts were hazy, but she heard the tearing sound of a blade entering flesh, like fabric being ripped. When her mind cleared, the smell of bl00d filled her nostrils.
Looking at the gentle face of the girl, Li Qiuyu’s mind was in turmoil. She wanted to find the girl who had vanished, but the heavy bl00d loss made her vision blurry.
Chloe narrowed her eyes and spoke, “Where are your pills?”
Prompted by the question, Li Qiuyu reacted and fumbled for a pill, which she put in her mouth.
After taking the pill, Li Qiuyu’s condition visibly improved. Her pale face regained some color, but she didn’t recover much of her strength.
“Please, help me find if there’s a girl who looks exactly like that demon,” Li Qiuyu said weakly. Her attitude was much better than usual.
Chloe raised an eyebrow. Although she wanted to mock her, seeing the half-dead Li Qiuyu, she closed her eyes and sensed the various auras around her. “I’m afraid there are no living people here.”
“That’s impossible, there was a living person here just now!” Li Qiuyu’s emotions flared instantly, tugging at her abdominal wound. The area that had stopped bleeding began to ooze fresh, red bl00d again.
“If you want to die, keep it up.” Chloe’s brows furrowed as she looked at Li Qiuyu’s abdominal wound.
She hadn’t saved Li Qiuyu just for her to die. She needed Li Qiuyu to help with the subsequent attack on the demon.
Li Qiuyu paid her no mind. She wanted to find the girl who had been sitting there. She could feel it—when she first saw the girl, she was a genuinely living person.
Seeing that Li Qiuyu was still trying to move, Chloe finally couldn’t hold back. She stepped forward and seized Li Qiuyu’s wrist.
“Calm down. The demon isn’t dead yet. Do you want to die first to scout for it?”
Li Qiuyu, who had been agitated, suddenly froze. She stopped moving and looked up at Chloe, a plea in her eyes. “Are you sure there’s no one alive nearby? Please, check carefully. She was just here.”
Her pale finger pointed at the spot where the girl had last been. She asked over and over, refusing to believe it, yet her hand trembled uncontrollably.
Li Qiuyu must have understood the truth that the girl was dead.
Chloe’s eyes flickered. “There is no trace of that girl’s aura here.”
Hearing the news again, Li Qiuyu seemed to lose all her vitality, and the light in her eyes extinguished instantly.
Looking at Li Qiuyu, Chloe suddenly felt a faint sense of empathy. She used to look at their leader, Phialan, the same way.
But people change. The hero of the past eventually became a dragonslayer.
Just as the two were lost in thought, the body of the girl that Chloe had killed with her spear suddenly reacted.
The still corpse suddenly gave off a large amount of purple demonic miasma. Li Qiuyu and Chloe immediately became alert, covering their mouths and noses.
Some say this is a magic user’s instinct, and that instinct is a blend of hellish gentleness and cruelty.
One second they were in mourning, but the next, when a demon appeared, they would rush into battle with absolute calm and rationality.
The purple miasma didn’t spread toward them. Instead, it floated in the air like smoke, and as the countless purple clouds vanished, the girl’s body that had been shrouded in it was revealed in its true form.
The corpse of a young boy appeared before them.
Seeing the child, a long list of details immediately flashed in Li Qiuyu’s mind. The child was one of the missing children from before.
And it was the appearance of this child that made Li Qiuyu immediately realize something.
