Dark-colored Fairy Tale: Seven Magicians - Chapter 75
Chapter 75
Li Qiuyu and Chloe discover that the missing children were not kidnapped by human traffickers but were instead lured away by monsters and turned into puppets. Enraged by this, Li Qiuyu, despite her severe abdominal wound, checks a child’s pulse and finds they are still alive. Just as she’s about to call for an ambulance, Chloe hurls her spear past Li Qiuyu, striking and killing a “New Year’s painting doll” monster. The monster had been holding a girl, who they now realize is the person they were looking for.
Li Qiuyu, weakened from her injuries, is unable to fight and looks to Chloe for help. As a magical practitioner, she trusts Chloe will rescue the girl. Chloe immediately moves to save the girl from the monster. The monster taunts Chloe, but she remains calm and prepares to attack with her “Parasite’s Spear.”
Just as Chloe is about to rescue the girl, she suddenly turns back. The monster’s laughter grows more manic as a surge of demonic energy erupts from the east. Chloe, without hesitation, turns and flees. The monster, with the girl still in its grasp, also leaves. Li Qiuyu, watching Chloe abandon the girl and violate the principles of a magical practitioner, is filled with rage. She vomits bl00d and faints from her injuries and emotional distress.
Chloe, lacking a flying mount, rushes to her destination, but when she arrives, the area is eerily quiet. The door to the house is open, there are no signs of a struggle, and a pair of shoes is missing. She realizes the resident, Mengmeng, must have left, despite Chloe’s strict instructions for her to stay inside. Chloe’s gaze falls on a photo of a girl with brown hair and blue eyes, and she whispers the name “Mengmeng.”
Li Qiuyu wakes up the next day in a hospital room. She sees Chloe by the window, her expression calm but filled with an intense, almost dangerous, pressure. Chloe offers a partnership, sipping coffee and exuding an air of dangerous elegance. Li Qiuyu notes that this is the “true” Chloe.
Li Qiuyu asks why Chloe didn’t save the girl the previous day. Chloe responds, “Because Mengmeng is more important to me.” Li Qiuyu realizes that Chloe’s sudden departure was to protect Mengmeng, who was also targeted by a monster. Chloe confirms that Mengmeng was taken, expressing regret that she didn’t anticipate Mengmeng would be lured outside.
Chloe explains that she needs Li Qiuyu’s help. She points out that Li Qiuyu has been acting uncharacteristically lately—irritable, reckless, and less cautious. She claims that if Chloe hadn’t intervened, Li Qiuyu would have died. Li Qiuyu, upon reflection, realizes Chloe is right. She agrees to the partnership, and they shake hands.
Chloe then reveals that Li Qiuyu’s vice-captain, Li Shu, is also hospitalized, in a more serious condition, and hasn’t woken up from a psychological shock. Li Qiuyu realizes why she was fighting alone. She immediately gets up to visit Li Shu, despite her own injuries. As she walks, Chloe carries her in a “princess carry” to speed things up, much to Li Qiuyu’s surprise.
