Dark-colored Fairy Tale: Seven Magicians - Chapter 8
Chapter 8
“Sisters, did any of you see who entered Class 1 of Year 2 this afternoon after 4 PM?”
Not long after she sent the message, Yang Shishi’s WeChat seemed to explode, and countless messages instantly flooded in.
Yang Shishi scrolled back and forth, finally finding a few useful messages. After sending another group message to thank them, a furious Yang Shishi shook her phone at Liu Menglu.
The screen clearly showed Lu Yuting’s name. Liu Menglu frowned, a bit unwilling to believe she had done it.
Before she could say a word, Yang Shishi’s fiery temper flared up!
She rolled up her sleeves, ready to go and beat someone up, but Liu Menglu held her back tightly.
Yang Shishi got even angrier. “Mengmeng, don’t stop me! I’m going to find that girl and get to the bottom of this. What does she want?! She’s been so passive-aggressive with you every day, and now she’s going through your stuff!”
Just thinking about it made Yang Shishi feel like her lungs were going to explode.
Liu Menglu frowned, still a little disbelieving. “Shishi, we don’t know for sure that she did it. Can you just calm down?”
Liu Menglu used a gentle, soft voice to soothe her friend’s explosive emotions. In truth, she was also feeling a little uncomfortable.
After all, verbal conflict was one thing, but this time, someone might have gone through her drawer, which was a bit much.
“Either way, we can’t just let this go!” Yang Shishi puffed out her cheeks, her anger still high.
In the end, Yang Shishi was calmed down, but Liu Menglu also promised her that when they came back to school next Monday, she would ask the teacher to change her seat.
Because P.E. was the last class of the day, after all the students had a fun class, they went back to their classrooms to copy down the homework for the day before going straight home.
Although Liu Menglu and Yang Shishi were the first to enter the classroom, they were the last to leave. Even after the reddish sun had set behind the mountains, they still hadn’t seen any sign of Lu Yuting, which made the ready-to-fight Yang Shishi feel a little dejected.
“Coward!” she mumbled. She glanced at the time. Although she was reluctant to go, she said goodbye to her friend and started heading home.
Liu Menglu quickly packed up and also headed in the direction of her house.
No one noticed that in the classroom next door, which was already closed, a girl sighed in relief after seeing them leave. Then, she stealthily took her bag. She had planned to go home, but she looked at the sky, then at the direction Liu Menglu had gone, gritted her teeth, and followed her.
But she had only taken a few steps before Liu Menglu, who had been waiting in a shadowed corner, blocked her path.
The girl’s delicate face was completely devoid of a smile. Her eyes, which were usually as blue as the sky, now reflected the golden-red of the sunset, taking on a brilliant, golden-red hue.
With one hand on her bag and the other on her hip, her figure was stretched out by the sun behind her. She stared at her quietly. “You, what are you following me for?”
Lu Yuting instantly panicked. “I… I… Do I need to tell you when I’m going home?”
“Going home?” Liu Menglu let out a small laugh, reciting something as if she were giving a book report. “Lu Yuting, your birthday is April 12th, and your address is Apartment 1102, Unit A, Building 12, Happiness Community. So, if I remember correctly, Happiness Community is not in this direction.”
Lu Yuting had no idea that this person knew her home address. She froze on the spot, completely bewildered.
“Then… Then I… can’t I go that way to buy some study materials?!” After she said that, she awkwardly hugged her bag tightly and tried to walk in that direction, but she was once again stopped by Liu Menglu.
“Study materials?” Liu Menglu gently narrowed her eyes, then suddenly leaned closer to Lu Yuting’s face. “Hey, you went through my desk today, didn’t you, to look for my study materials?”
Hearing this, a flash of panic crossed Lu Yuting’s eyes. Her gaze darted around, but she finally answered in a voice as small as a mosquito’s buzz.
Seeing this, Liu Menglu gave a wicked smile. “Well, do you want to know what study materials I use?”
Lu Yuting nodded twice, her desperate look paired with her green crystal-like eyes creating an unexpectedly cute and simple expression.
Liu Menglu laughed, and her tone became filled with temptation. “Then come closer. Lean in, and I’ll tell you.”
Lu Yuting didn’t suspect a thing and quietly leaned her ear forward. Then, Liu Menglu maliciously blew a small puff of air into her ear, and the warm breath instantly turned the small earlobe red.
Lu Yuting instantly wanted to pull away, but the study materials were too tempting. She bit her lower lip and tensed her body, staying put.
Then, Liu Menglu said, “My study materials are… READING MORE BOOKS!”
With that, without waiting for Lu Yuting to react, she swung her bag onto her back and walked away gracefully, leaving a trail of cheerful laughter behind. She left Lu Yuting, who stood there with her eyes wide open in disbelief. Finally, she watched as Liu Menglu’s figure got smaller and smaller until she could no longer see her. Slowly, she crouched down.
She hugged her knees, her face completely hidden.
“She’s truly as dazzling as the sun in the sky. She really makes me so jealous…”
…
“Chloe, are you dead or not? You haven’t contacted me in three days.” Mist lay on her soft sofa, toying with her Thorn Rose, saying carelessly.
“I’m not dead. Too much trouble.” Chloe answered the two questions concisely. Her eyes looked at the distance, where the sun was just rising, and high school students were heading to school. Thinking of this, she hid herself more in the tree’s branches, her eyes fixed on the school gate.
My sister is going to school~
Mist couldn’t see the situation there and simply said a flat “Oh.”
“Good, not dead. But be careful. The organization says there are demon fluctuations near you, although they’re hidden. As one of the holders of the Seven Ancient Offerings, you need to be careful.”
“I’m at a high school right now.” Chloe’s lips were pursed, her body pressed against the tree trunk. She frowned slightly as she watched the groups of youths walking together. Children at high school are the purest. How could they be corrupted by a demon?
Hearing this, the rose in Mist’s hand stopped spinning. She tilted her head slightly, looked at the dark night sky outside her window, and scoffed. “Arrogance, jealousy, wrath, sloth, greed, gluttony, and even lust. These things seem impossible to appear in children, but—there are always bad kids.”
“And…” As if thinking of something, Mist’s voice became a little eerie. “Adolescent jealousy can be very, very terrifying~”
Chloe didn’t respond, her downcast eyelashes casting a shadow over her eyes.
The sunlight fell, blurring all the outlines of the school. Chloe knew, deep down, that jealousy truly was the greatest sin.
