Summary
Synopsis
When literary classics become stage-shredding abilities, and the souls of great writers inhabit the bodies of talented singing and dancing girls—this idol survival show is about more than just fighting for the top spot.
16-year-old Edogawa Ranpo enters the competition, stepping on a worldview constructed from mystery novels. Her “Ultra-Deduction” ability allows her to see through all stage traps at a glance, yet she struggles to read the complexities of people’s hearts. That is, until she meets Dazai Osamu, who always wears a gentle smile. Dazai’s “No Longer Human” can nullify all abilities, but he prefers to use jokes to burst her arrogance: “Ranpo-chan, instead of cracking the loopholes in the choreography, why don’t you guess if I genuinely want to help you right now?”
Five girls, each possessing a literary ability, form the trainee group “Bunyo.” One uses her ability to write lyrics that blow up on trending searches, while another relies on her power to make a comeback in a public opinion war. From tearing each other down to standing back-to-back against hidden schemes, they use the spotlight to rip open the facade of the “Variable Project”—revealing that this survival show has been a conspiracy against literary ability-users from the very beginning.
When “Ultra-Deduction” meets “No Longer Human,” and the cries from classic works become roars from microphones, the girls will ultimately prove that what should really be blown up is this world that has been defined for them, not just the debut rankings.
