Deceased Mother's Inheritance - Chapter 15
Chapter 15: Are you asleep?
Yun Jing didn’t agree to see a psychologist, but Meng Zhengyue forced her to listen to an hour-long “advice” as a mother.
Yun Zhixue was indeed lacking in trace elements. Meng Zhengyue bought a bag of oral solutions from a large pharmacy, and Yun Zhixue opened and drank one bottle before even leaving the hospital.
Yun Jing sat in the back seat, her hands on her knees, her brows furrowed. She would occasionally look at Yun Zhixue in the passenger seat. Yun Zhixue was uncomfortable at first, but she quickly got used to this high-pressure situation. She would think, “Ah, you get jealous so easily.”
It was three o’clock in the afternoon, the hottest part of the day.
When the car arrived home, Yun Zhixue went upstairs to review, while Yun Jing looked through Yun Zhixue’s stack of check-up reports.
The summer heat was intense. Meng Zhengyue took a short nap, then changed into a black swimsuit that hugged her fair skin. She walked barefoot on the tiles by the pool, casually tossing a gauze scarf onto a lounge chair, and swam leisurely.
Yun Jing sat by the floor-to-ceiling window downstairs, watching, and her daughter stood by the floor-to-ceiling window upstairs, also watching.
The water surface was shimmering with light. Meng Zhengyue emerged from the water. The neckline of her swimsuit perfectly outlined her graceful curves. The sunlight cast a soft glow on her fair skin. Meng Zhengyue saw her. Yun Zhixue wanted to hide, but she couldn’t bear to. Meng Zhengyue beckoned to her and told her to change into some shorts and come down to play.
Yun Zhixue scurried downstairs.
A thick scab had formed on her wound. The doctor said she could go into the water and exercise, but Meng Zhengyue was still worried, so she only let her stand in the water.
Meng Zhengyue asked, “Do you know how to swim?”
Yun Zhixue shook her head. “No.”
Meng Zhengyue said, “I’ll teach you when you’re all better.”
Yun Jing was puzzled. Yun Zhixue knew how to swim, and she was quite good at it. Yun Jing looked deeply at her daughter in the pool.
Meng Zhengyue held her and used a towel to wipe her face.
Yun Zhixue could see her swimsuit.
The neckline of the swimsuit was neither too high nor too low. The swell of her chest was partially revealed, and the triangular shape outlined a smooth curve. Her skin was a tempting milky color, with a delicate sheen in the sunlight, making one want to press their face against it and use their tongue to trace the soft curve.
Her waist was slender, and the lines were beautifully tapered, as if one could wrap a hand around it. If she got closer, she might be able to smell the faint scent of sunscreen on her, which was damp and warm.
The ends of her hair were wet, clinging to the side of her neck. Water droplets slid down her jawline and disappeared at the edge of her swimsuit.
—She wanted to get closer.
—She wanted to touch her.
—She wanted to bury her face in the crook of her neck, feel her body temperature, and hear her low laugh in her ear.
What could she do?
Just then, Yun Jing walked toward the pool. Yun Zhixue tentatively took a step forward. Yun Jing was close to Meng Zhengyue, so Yun Zhixue got even closer to Meng Zhengyue and walked straight into her arms.
Meng Zhengyue also noticed Yun Jing’s direct expression. Not to mention the child being afraid, even she didn’t like it. She pinched Yun Zhixue’s face and gently kneaded it. Yun Jing walked over. Yun Zhixue buried her head in Meng Zhengyue’s shoulder, as if she were hiding from her. “I’m done with my homework. Can I play for a while?”
Meng Zhengyue almost lost her balance. She leaned back, sat on the edge of the pool, and comforted her. “It’s fine. You can.”
Yun Zhixue buried herself even deeper. Yun Jing stood by the side like a hundred-watt light bulb, momentarily unable to understand her own purpose.
Meng Zhengyue’s legs had to hold Yun Zhixue’s waist to keep her in place. Yun Zhixue could feel the softness of her thighs and the strength of her muscles.
She loved this close contact. It squeezed out all the anxiety in her heart. She even wanted to say, “Mommy, can you hold me a little tighter?”
Meng Zhengyue was intentional about creating contact between the mother and daughter. Yun Jing sat next to her with a stern face. After ten minutes, Yun Zhixue hadn’t looked at her once. Yun Jing hated being given the cold shoulder so much that she got up after only sitting for a while.
Yun Zhixue raised her head at this moment. Meng Zhengyue knew she wanted to talk to Yun Jing. She said, “Do you want her to come over? I’ll call her for you.”
Yun Zhixue shook her head furiously.
“Look how scared you are.” Meng Zhengyue pinched her flushed cheeks. The more she pinched, the more she liked it. They were warm and she was shy and wanted to hide. But if she really stopped pinching, Yun Zhixue would on her own let her pinch her a couple of times. “You’re completely different from your mom.”
Yun Zhixue liked this sentence.
It meant that Meng Zhengyue liked her uniqueness and that Yun Zhixue had attracted her.
The two of them played in the water for a while. Meng Zhengyue helped her up to the edge of the pool, re-tied her hair, and then swam another lap. Yun Zhixue ran to get her a towel and a bathrobe. Meng Zhengyue rubbed her hair. “Such a good girl.”
Meng Zhengyue wiped her hair. Water droplets flowed down her strands.
Below her waist were beautiful ab lines. A sexy triangular piece of cloth wrapped her hips. The palm of Yun Zhixue’s hand, which was close to her, felt itchy.
Yun Zhixue glanced at it and then lowered her head.
“You should wipe yourself too.” Seeing her clothes were wet, Meng Zhengyue reached out and pinched the hem of her shirt.
Yun Zhixue turned sideways, her hand accidentally touching her side. Her fingers trembled instantly. Yun Zhixue didn’t wipe herself. She held the towel in her hands.
When they entered the living room.
Yun Jing was in a meeting. She was charmed by Meng Zhengyue, who was changing her slippers at the moment. She beckoned to her. Meng Zhengyue put on her outerwear. When Yun Jing looked up again, Yun Zhixue was standing next to her. Yun Zhixue asked her seriously, “Mom. Do you want a towel?”
Sometimes, Yun Jing felt that it wasn’t that she couldn’t love her daughter, but that her daughter’s rigid behavior sometimes annoyed her.
Yun Jing: “No.”
Yun Zhixue let out a long sigh of relief.
Yun Jing: “What are you sighing about?”
Because you don’t want the towel that Mommy used, I can take it now.
Meng Zhengyue, who was walking up the stairs, found her amusing and interesting. She beckoned to her and said, “Come here. I’ll help you with your lotion.”
Yun Zhixue followed her upstairs. Meng Zhengyue told her to go to the bathroom to rinse off and change clothes. Afterward, she took some toner and lotion and applied it to her face. She put both hands on her cheeks and deliberately rubbed her face.
Meng Zhengyue then told her to apply the rest herself. She put some on her arms and legs. Yun Zhixue raised her arm and sniffed. Meng Zhengyue asked, “Don’t you like this scent?”
“I love it.” Yun Zhixue nodded. This was Meng Zhengyue’s scent, the same scent on the nightgown. She loved it so much.
She applied it slowly and meticulously. Meng Zhengyue thought she didn’t know how to do it. She poured some into her palm and applied it to her neck. She could distinctly feel her tremble. She asked, “What’s wrong? Itchy?”
She didn’t know. Her body just wanted to tremble, and her toes curled.
From her neck to her arms, and then to her shoulder blades, she was caressing her. Yun Zhixue wanted to turn around and let Meng Zhengyue touch her front too. Her front also wanted to be touched, but Meng Zhengyue pulled her hands back.
Meng Zhengyue saw her two big toes rubbing against each other and chuckled. She gave the bottle to Yun Zhixue. “Put some on your legs too.”
The little girl was fair and looked very nice. She would look better once her complexion improved. It was best not to get a tan.
Meng Zhengyue washed her hands and went downstairs.
Yun Jing’s meeting was over. She had a cigarette in her hand and was about to light it. She was filled with gloom. She looked up at Meng Zhengyue, who was walking down the stairs.
Meng Zhengyue said, “Don’t have that expression. She’s your daughter. Do you want her to flatter you like she’s kissing up to you? Do you want her to be intimate with you just because you want to interact? How is that possible?”
Yun Jing was unyielding. “Then I’ll make her learn.”
Meng Zhengyue continued, “If you can’t give her affection, or listen to the doctor’s advice, then send her to her father.”
Yun Jing frowned. “Who said I had her with a man?”
Meng Zhengyue clicked her tongue.
“Ms. Yun, having a child with a woman at such a young age is quite rebellious.”
In the evening, the three of them had dinner together.
Yun Jing kept looking at Yun Zhixue. She noticed that she wasn’t as scrawny as before. She had gained a little weight and was prettier and more like… A face flashed through her mind, and she suppressed it.
Yun Zhixue also occasionally looked at her, constantly urging in her heart, “Why isn’t Yun Jing leaving yet?”
The doctor’s words carried authority. After careful consideration, Yun Jing decided to nurture a relationship with Yun Zhixue for the sake of her grades.
She spoke up, which was rare. “You’ll sleep with me tonight.”
The bean Yun Zhixue was bringing to her mouth fell onto the table. She looked at Yun Jing in confusion. Was her mother crazy? She wiped it off with a tissue and quickly glanced at Meng Zhengyue.
Meng Zhengyue was also shocked and almost laughed. She said, “Then Zhixue, you sleep in my room. I’ll go to your room. If you mind, I’ll sleep in another room.”
“Okay.” After saying it, Yun Zhixue regretted it. She wanted her blanket to be filled with Meng Zhengyue’s scent, but… sleeping with Yun Jing was so strange.
After dinner, Meng Zhengyue went back to her room to pack. To help the two of them build a relationship, she only left one pillow. She first moved to Yun Zhixue’s room. Yun Zhixue was in the bathroom, getting ready to move to that side.
Yun Jing didn’t have to work at night, and Yun Zhixue didn’t have any homework. The two of them lay stiffly in bed. Yun Jing rested her head on the pillow. She first held her arms, and a few minutes later, she put her hands down flat. Yun Zhixue kept staring at the ceiling, blinking her eyes repeatedly.
“Are you asleep?”
“No.”
“Are you asleep?”
“Mom, you’re a little loud.”
Yun Jing wished she could sit up directly. She was truly annoyed.
She didn’t know who was being tormented like this. Fortunately, Yun Jing had a biological clock. She held on for a while and then fell asleep. Her sleep quality was very poor. She had a shallow dream where Yun Zhixue was still a baby. She had received a lot of nutrients in the womb, so Yun Zhixue was born bigger than a normal baby, and her eyes were bigger too.
She went to see the woman holding the baby. The light was harsh in her eyes, and she slowly woke up.
At first, Yun Jing didn’t remember that Yun Zhixue was sleeping next to her. She lay there, recalling the dream. When she came to her senses, she immediately sat up and looked at the side. She fumbled for her phone, turned on the light, and called her name, but she didn’t hear a response.
Yun Jing thought for a few minutes. She took her phone and turned on the rear light to go to Yun Zhixue’s room. She twisted the doorknob and gently pushed it open, creating a small gap. She could see Meng Zhengyue’s back as she slept on her side.
But when Yun Jing shone the light, she could faintly see her daughter curled up in her lover’s arms, her hand on her lover’s thigh.
