Deceased Mother's Inheritance - Chapter 19
Chapter 19: She touched Meng Zhengyue’s lips.
She touched Meng Zhengyue’s lips.
They were soft, just as she had imagined.
As if by intuition, she suddenly wanted to taste Meng Zhengyue’s lips. Would they taste like apples? If so, she would clean it up, sucking up all the juice. If not, it would be a surprise, and she would taste it more carefully.
Just as she tentatively stuck out her tongue, a suppressed groan suddenly escaped from between their lips.
Yun Zhixue was like a startled rabbit, scrambling back and falling onto the floor. Her back was pressed against the sofa, and the open book was clutched tightly to her chest. The lingering sensation on her lips made her heart pound, and she unconsciously licked the tip of her tongue.
Meng Zhengyue was still sleepy. She placed her palm on Yun Zhixue’s trembling back and patted it gently. “Honey…” Her hoarse voice, wrapped in sleepiness, was especially clear in the darkness.
Yun Zhixue’s throat tightened. She heard herself swallow.
“Why didn’t you turn on the light?”
“I was… afraid of waking you up.” The pages of the book crumpled in her fingers.
“Oh… So you can see while holding the book?”
It was her first crime. Yun Zhixue’s voice was weak, and her knuckles were white from clenching. The pages of the book made a subtle crunching sound in her hands.
Just then, Meng Zhengyue’s hand rested on her shoulder and squeezed it twice. She said, “Come here. Help Mommy up.”
Yun Zhixue hurriedly reached out to help. Meng Zhengyue lazily propped herself up, her palm supporting her chin. Her eyelashes were still half-lowered, and her breathing was deep and slow.
She finally opened her eyes, her voice filled with a sleep-ridden grogginess. “What’s wrong?” Her voice trailed off. “What bad thing did you do to be so guilty?”
“…The task Mom gave me, I…” Yun Zhixue glanced at her lips. “I didn’t do it very well.”
Meng Zhengyue: “What task? I’ll help you.”
Yun Zhixue stared at her, wanting so much to tell her, “I want to kiss you.” Meng Zhengyue’s finger made a small circle in the web of her thumb. An itchiness instantly spread throughout her body. Yun Zhixue shuddered. “…It’s a secret.”
Meng Zhengyue didn’t press her. She encouraged her. “Don’t be afraid. Take it slow. You can do it.”
The bl00d under Yun Zhixue’s skin trembled more violently. She swallowed her breath. “I’ll go get you a glass of orange juice. With ice, okay?”
The small refrigerator in the room was empty before Meng Zhengyue came. Now it was stocked with a lot of food that Meng Zhengyue had bought for her at night. She twisted open the juice bottle. Meng Zhengyue leaned back quietly. “The sugar is too high.”
Yes, yes.
Her lips were so sweet. It was a pity she didn’t get to taste the inside.
“Pour me a glass of water.”
Yun Zhixue turned her back to her on purpose. The juice almost overflowed, so she poured some out. She didn’t dare to look at her; she would get lost in her thoughts.
She would bite her lips and kiss her hard until she couldn’t breathe. Maybe she would kiss her back, and then she would rub against Meng Zhengyue’s chest.
Meng Zhengyue took the water. Her fingertips accidentally brushed against the back of Yun Zhixue’s hand. It was warm and moist, like a summer afternoon rain.
Yun Zhixue stared at the lines of her neck that slightly moved as she tilted her head back to drink. She watched the tiny mole on her throat gently rise and fall with each swallow.
Yun Zhixue stared at it, and as if by some strange impulse, she reached out and gently brushed her thumb over the corner of her lips.
Meng Zhengyue was startled for a moment. She didn’t understand why she was suddenly so meticulous, but she quickly accepted it… The little girl had been tamed by her.
Yun Zhixue appropriately lowered her eyes, pretending as if nothing had happened.
Meng Zhengyue said, “Such a good girl. No wonder I dreamed of you.”
“Hmm?” Her eyes lit up slightly. “What did you dream about?”
Meng Zhengyue drank her water unhurriedly. Her throat was moistened, and she began to speak. “Well… I guess I dreamed that you kissed me.”
Yun Zhixue was stunned. Her spine felt like it was being pricked.
It wasn’t a dream.
At that time, Meng Zhengyue felt like she was having sleep paralysis, half-asleep and half-awake. She thought about it and wanted to laugh. The little girl had kissed her on the mouth.
Yun Zhixue tried her best to control the force with which she was pinching her palm, trying to keep her breathing steady.
Meng Zhengyue said in annoyance, “Did I scare you? I shouldn’t have told you.”
She then added, “…Don’t worry, I won’t kiss you.”
Yun Zhixue’s mouth twitched stiffly.
Meng Zhengyue then patted the back of her neck. She got up from the sofa. Yun Zhixue held the cup. The lingering sensation on the back of her neck was burning. She stared at the water rippling in the cup and finally pressed her lips to the wet rim.
“What’s wrong?” Meng Zhengyue noticed that something was off. She rested her head on her hand, which was propped on her knee. “What’s making you unhappy?”
Yun Zhixue first shook her head, then stopped. “From now on, when we’re at home, you’d better not do anything intimate with my mother.”
Meng Zhengyue took a moment to understand what she meant. “Huh? Me and your mom?” Shouldn’t it be me and you?
“Yes, you and her,” Yun Zhixue’s cheeks were flushed. She frowned, trying to hold back her shame. Her fingers clenched tightly. “Your intimacy with her will affect my studies.”
Meng Zhengyue’s expression quickly became serious. She took this issue very seriously.
She thought back. Her relationship with Yun Jing wasn’t good, and she was busy. At most, they had kissed once, but it wasn’t even really a kiss… For Yun Zhixue, it should be considered inappropriate for children.
The college entrance exam was the most important thing.
“Okay.”
Yun Zhixue was surprised that she agreed so easily.
“But you have to promise me too…”
“Hmm?” Yun Zhixue spoke quickly. “I won’t be very intimate with anyone else either.”
Meng Zhengyue smiled and said, “No. I mean, study hard. It’s only a few days left. If you do well on the test, I’ll take you out to have some fun.”
Meng Zhengyue’s thought was very simple. The child had been through too much recently. It would be good to take her out and get rid of some bad luck.
Yun Zhixue’s eyes lit up.
“Okay!”
Meng Zhengyue went to put away the computer on the table. She unlocked it with her fingerprint, checked the songs inside, and saved them.
“Why didn’t you eat the late-night snack?”
Meng Zhengyue’s tone became serious again. “Don’t overthink things. Take care of your body and study hard. It’s only a few more days.”
Yun Zhixue gave a strong “mm,” sat next to her, and started doing her homework. She really wanted to hug Meng Zhengyue and lick her.
That night, Meng Zhengyue didn’t leave.
Her studio was far away, and there was no one at the villa, so Meng Zhengyue decided to stay here. Meng Zhengyue remembered there was a nightgown here. She asked, “Honey, is that nightgown in the closet?”
Meng Zhengyue was about to get it, but the pen in Yun Zhixue’s hand tilted to the side. “No, I’ll get you a new one.”
“What about that one?”
It was under the blanket.
“I wore it. I washed it.”
“Okay.”
Yun Zhixue went to the closet to find a loose, long T-shirt for her. When she was about to give it to her, she thought that Mommy’s scent would be all over it, and she could hug it later. She liked the feeling of satisfaction, so she changed to a long dress instead.
Meng Zhengyue took the clothes and went to the bathroom. Yun Zhixue lowered her head and continued doing her homework, but she secretly pulled out the purple lace nightgown, carefully folded it, and hid it under the blanket.
The sound of water stopped. Meng Zhengyue changed into a plain long dress. Her wet hair was draped over her shoulders. The thin fabric was semi-transparent from the water droplets that hadn’t been wiped off, vaguely revealing the outline of her skin. She leaned on the sofa, scrolling on her phone, a section of her fair calf exposed below the hem of her dress.
“You should go wash up too. Get some rest early.”
Yun Zhixue found her clothes and went to the bathroom. She looked a little happy. She closed the door and thought, “Should I kiss her again tonight?”
Meng Zhengyue stood up.
The little girl’s evasive eyes were too obvious. Meng Zhengyue scanned the room—the closet was empty. The room itself wasn’t big, and Yun Zhixue couldn’t hide anything.
She went directly and lifted the mattress. The nightgown was crumpled up in the blankets. The pathetic fabric was wrinkled from being clutched. The worst part was the clear bite marks on the chest area.
